Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Is there nothing Obama cannot do?
Seth Borenstein, AP “Science” Writer is convinced that The Messiah has very little time to save the polar bears. Why hope for change when what we need is a miracle?
Um, yes. Expect the European ski season to start earlier and earlier as the Gulf Stream gradually alters its course. It will be a shame to live to see the vineyards disappear from Europe.
On the Aggravating Press wire today:
Ironic is not exactly the word I was thinking…
Growing consensus?
Actually, I see a growing consensus that, in fact, Chicken Little (Al Gore and the IPCC, etc.) are full of chicken shee-it.
650 prominent scientists are in consensus that the IPCC is full of it, that the whole thing is a pile of B.S. Nothing to sneeze at.
Someone should scare Al Gore with the dire warning that the hair on the top of his head will be gone in five years. Can’t prove that, but then again, Gore can’t prove a damn thing he claims, either.
Predicting the future like that?
Now we know Al Gore is insane. Guy thinks he’s frickin’ Nostradamus!
And Leftists make fun of me for warning that Islamic terrorists are going to try to strike in North America again, and that they’ll try to make it bigger than before… at least my warnings are believable when one looks at observable facts in the real world, though not, obviously, by those who believe Al Gore’s Nostradamian prophecies.
And Lizzie May was right there in the midst of her, contributing more than her fair share of hot air: http://pelalusa.blogspot.com/2008/12/elizabeth-may-embarrassed-to-be.html
How about the huge storm that is heading to sunny-less California?Any consensus there?

It’s all about the money folks!
If Ellie May were taxed every time she farted, she’d need a helluva lot more than $1.95 a vote. And she blew a really big one when she said she was embarrased being a Canadian.
I am sure the 20 degrees below zero/or -30, will help the average temps for the year. Snow in New Orleans, will also help.
Where is all that global warming we are warned about. I could use some.
From hennessey
“This weather comes from Siberia where daily highs have been -80 F for the past few days. Apparently, there’s not much CO2 in Russia.”
It feels like the polar ice cap is trying to sneak in through my windows at the moment .- 45 windchill and already colder than the overnight forecast – 33 .
Between twelve and fourteen inches of snow outside my door this morning, and that was just last night’s fall. Not unusual for Canada as a whole, but we’re not used to this much white stuff falling on Vancouver Island.
Kate.
I just read over at Phantom Observer that you have won the 2008 Conservative Blog Award. Congrats!
perfect headline when it is -40 across the Prairies.
We can expect a final flurry of screaming alarmism as the AGW Warmonger crowd realizes their claims are not being matched by actual climate data.
The colder the climate gets, the more frenetic the Believers will get.
I had to chuckle at the quote about “the entire North Polarized cap …” Surely that was a mis-transcription.
And yes, I watched the video clip and I’m sure Gore said “polar ice” rather than “polarized”.
Still, whoever made the error, it’s a wonderfully appropriate Freudian slip, given how polarizing this whole scam has become.
Has Baghdad Bob moved on to being the Communications Director for the IPCC? This is so bizarre it boggles the mind. These guys are now becoming a laughing stock.
Al keeps trying to Gore us with his bull.

“After dangerous lull, war on climate change faces crunch year
2 hours ago
POZNAN, Poland (AFP) — After a year in which it nearly lost its compass, the campaign against climate change heads into 2009 needing top-level political commitment, creative thinking and a deep well of money.
Next year holds a big dream: by its end, the world will have forged a treaty in Copenhagen to shrink global warming from mankind-threatening juggernaut to manageable problem.
Unprecedented in scale and complexity, this accord, due to take effect from 2012, will rein in the greenhouse gases that stoke global warming and throw a lifeline to poor countries exposed to mutated weather patterns.
But realising this vision will now require extraordinary effort.”

Last winter there was a story, prominently featured all over, about a company that was closing their ski-hills because of GLOBAL WARMING.They were going to feature eco-walks or some such sheet. I wonder how they are doing this year. The hills are alive with the sound of muses, and NO,you can’t take that to the bank.
I am 100% positive I read an article in 2006 ( or 2005, I may have it on a back up CD somewhere ) in which Al Gore was saying the pole would melt in 5 years which would mean in 2011 ( or 2010 ).
Now he says in 2013.
If in 2013 he says again “in 5 years” then he should give back his Nobel Prize because the man has no idea what he is talking about and is obviously a fraud.
Well some of us have known for years he is a fraud, but some in the MSM and the general public should eventually catch up.
I have had about all the global warming I can take for today. Just got in from the shop after thawing the fuel out in my tractor. Cows gotta eat.
Dear Friend of USA,
I’m positive you’re right. He now realizes that he has to keep on moving the date forward in order to remain credible against the numbskulls who still think he’s speaking the truth!

An e-mail has been making the rounds lately about Irena Sendler, who did not win the Nobel Prize the year that Gore and the IPCC did (2007). She’s dead now, so that ship has sailed.
Worth a read, an incredible life, with acts of real heroism and courage

I hope so, Friend of USA. Because, quite frankly, I’m getting sick of this global warming and/or climate change scam. It’s no coincidence the rise of modern environmentalism started to happen after the fall of communism. AGW-based environmentalism is simply the latest ‘ism’ adopted by the leftist elites to control the great unwashed while lining their own pockets.
I’m so sick of the MSM, and their implicit assumptions about the “truth” of AGW. I was listening the the Christy Clark show on CKWN (Vancouver, BC) the other day, and she had Jay Ingram from the Discovery Channel on talking about global warming. This Ingram fellow made copious use of the “Denier” moniker to describe AGW-skeptics. Christy, a true believer, was little more than a tea hostess, having a nice chit-chat about the topic. And, the callers were nicely screened to only include AGW believers.
The Bill Good show on the same station offers similar AGW coverage.
It’s a sickening display of sycophantic behaviour, as if there’s no legitimate objection to AGW theory. And, despite what the religious believers say, AGW is ONLY A THEORY.
All that’s missing is the gray robe, the white beard and the staff and Gore would be a perfect “The End Is Near” whack job that you might see in on a street corner in any large city.
Clearly, he is insane, but it’s less noticeable on someone with that kind of money and influence.
Deceive many? Could Al be the antichrist?
Conference held in Poznan… awfully close to being Ponzi, as in scheme
Eric Larsen, that’s quite a story about Irena Sendler.
thank you.
Whatever happened to “The Scientific Method”?
This is what we all learned in high school, and post-secondary education, that scientific FACTS came about by an idea/theory, then, proven, BEYOND A DOUBT, by repeated experiment. Period.
But, of course, this is Al Gore, and all we need now is consensus, not facts.
This is such a scam of huge proportions. Some well-meaning people involved, but, they are too busy looking at symptoms, and a convenient scapegoat, but they have not been successful relating the two together, without using flawed data, and character assassination.
That’s not science, that’s blind faith, and that’s what makes the acolytes of AGW dangerous.
We must persevere against this tide.
Might anyone be able to track down Baghdad Bob’s current address? I think we should introduce him to Lizzie May. They’d make such a perfect couple!
Just imagine him introducing her at every Green Party Rally …
Hey Dan, you inspired me…
The Radical Left’s Scientific Method:
1. Think up new hair-brained idea.
2. Modify so that it:
a. Inflicts the most financial damage to greedy capitalists (aka “anyone working in the private sector”)
b. Damages one or more pillars of capitalism and the free market.
c. Generates work for fellow members of the Radical Left.
3. Determined desired outcome of research studies.
4. Conduct research studies that “magically” support desired outcome.
How many times have we all seen these same tactics employed in the past 20 years?
We must persevere against this tide.

Indeed. What disturbs me about the notion of scientific consensus, is that the phrase is am oxymoron by definition: skepticism is a necessary ingredient for scientific advancement.
And, while some scientific facts can be closely held with little controversy (for example, the earth is round), I have seen nothing to suggest AGW theory is anything but conjecture, with data available to support the conjecture. That said, here is sufficient counter data available to, at the very least, be skeptical of AGW. Frankly, I’m an out-and-out disbeliever. The politicization of the issue is enough to make me question the motives of AGW pushers.
I did read about Irena Sendler a couple months ago.
She was an amazing human being who risked her life to save Jewish children from the Nazis.
Al Gore is a snake oil salesman who owns stock in his own scam business and charges hundreds of thousands of dollars to lie from a podium.
The choice is clear.
But the Nobel People chose Gore instead of Sendler for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Who in his right mind can still have respect for the people in the Nobel committee (or whatever it is called)?
I keep hearing g.w. proponents/experts saying that the g.w. deniers don’t have any expertise or credibility.
So I find it incredible that these so-called scientists would even listen to a guy like Gore. He has NO credentials whatsover.
Imagine that. Gore goes to Germany and tries to scare some more suckers about the icecaps melting. (he’s been doing it for a decade now.) Then the temps in North America and elsewhere plunge 20 or 30 degrees below normal. And they say the Gore effect isn’t real.
Who in his right mind can still have respect for the people in the Nobel committee (or whatever it is called)?

I lost respect for the Nobel organization after the Arafat fiasco. Arafat was granted the prize after a lifelong pursuit of terrorism — but after signing the Oslo peace accords all was forgiven.
Too bad he didn’t live up to the treaty’s obligations. But hey, the day of the signing was a great photo-op.
Well out here on the left coast, Qualicum Vancouver Island almost 2 feet of snow in the last 24 hours. If “saber tooth” Lizzy was around 10,000 years ago when the ice started to recede on North America she could have dropped her brontosauras rib and ran in circles screaming “global warming” at that time she would have been right, good luck with getting them “hunter-gathers” to give up fire. anyone got a time machine?
Cheers Bubba
Al Gore is one of the most obnoxious windbags on the planet. He is so arrogant he won’t even debate the subject of “Global Warming” and that says it all. The Nobel Prize has been diminished to crackerjack level in recent years, starting with Yasser Arafat, that was a real jaw dropper.
Lizzy may may be embarrassed to be Canadian but how about the vast numbers of Canadians who are embarrassed and angry that she’s flitting around the globe slagging our country?
deBeauxOs,
Can you show me any evidence that the Gulf Stream has actually slowed? I mean any studies that have not later been refuted?
tick….tick…..tick….
Didn’t think so. It used to be a ritual to ask the warmie believers for evidence. But after so much disappointment, we have all come to accept that they never do. I ask deBeauxOs this question as a kind of ritual. Anybody who has followed the evidence knows that there is no evidence that the Gulf Stream has slowed, and that the Younger Dryas event, to which she likely dimly refers, was due to to the sudden release of a quanitity of fresh water into the North Atlanic much larger than that held by the entire Great Lakes. A quantity of liquid fresh water unavailable even in this era of global warming.
Our lake is also frozen over, in the parts that are protected from the wind, about a month early.
Some of the bays were already frozen by Thanksgiving (US version), or two months early.
Colin: I disagree; the Earth is actually an oblate spheroid. {/geek}
Seriously, though, Colin, yours is a point that we must continue to make, especially to the know-very-little press: that science is all about questioning, about being skeptical. Questioning the validity of assumptions, measurements and conclusions does not make one a “denier”; it makes one a scientist. I’m a scientist and I must question every observation; if not, my work might as well be for naught.
Science deals with facts. Something is either true or not true. If something is proven to be a fact, all scientists have to agree on it. That is what a fact is. If some scientists disagree, and the other bunch have to talk about a “consencus” that means the item has not been proven to be a fact. At this point, it is just an opinion.
Consencus = not proven to be a fact = opinion
I’ts frightening how many people you talk to on this subject that just swallow the bs about AGW. Come on people! there’s thousands of resources out there just waiting to refute this madness. I’ve been in a battle with a coworker (solid Dion supporter, loved the Green Plan… i just vomited in my mouth a little) on this and every time I provide him a link he appropriately ignores it and goes on an on about diversifying Alberta’s economy and needing to stop carbon emissions. Blah! RTFM: co2 is not pollution.
Don’t you get it!
It is an ever growing consensus among politicians, lawyer, carbon traders, ex-politicians, bureaucrats, Greenpeace, WWF, sierra club members, environmental journalists and second hand environmental scientists that global warming is real, is getting worse and will be catastrophic unless we adopt a compulsory 19 century living standard.
At least it was warm inside the conference hall.
