“No news publication has dared to barely scratch the surface like this before”

The Onion skewers Time Magazine;

According to political analysts, the Time piece features the most lack-of-depth reporting on Obama ever published, and for the first time reveals a number of inconsequential truths about the candidate, including how he keeps in shape on the campaign trail, and which historical figures the presidential hopeful would choose to have dinner with.
“The sheer breadth of fluff in this story is something to be marveled at,” New York Times Washington bureau chief Dean Baquet said. “It’s all here. Favorite books, movies, meals, and seasons of the year ranked one through four. Sure, we asked Obama what his favorite ice cream was, but Time did us one better and asked, ‘What’s your favorite ice cream, really?'”
Time managing editor Rich Stengel said he was proud of the Obama puff piece, and that he hoped it would help to redefine the boundaries of journalistic drivel.

I don’t know about that – the field is pretty deep.

  1. The Old Grey Lady has cancer. Prognosis, terminial by liberal left poisening.

  2. They forgot to add he wears bunny slippers around the house and massages the feet of his female reporters on long flights.

  3. This is very, very scary the way the press is giving Obama a pass on intelligence and policy. To anyone who is a serious Bible scholar this is a very scary person. Anti-Christ anyone? His age and place of birth is very relevent to Revelation. He is exactly the right mix of races and appearing in the United States is very phophetic. The way in which everyone is falling all over themselves to make him King is also very scary. He has no credentials and has no policy and is way too young to be handed the Presidency.Be prepared.

  4. When a satirical paper like the Onion starts skewering the left like that, you know things are bad. Funny stuff.

  5. Guys at the Onion must be tearing their hair out these days. Its almost impossible to lampoon the MSM anymore, they’ll trump you the next day no matter how wild the characterization.

  6. Are you sure it was TIME magazine and not Tiger Beat or some other Teenybopper magazine?

  7. Time hits a new low, and that is saying something.
Okay, that kind of fluff crap is okay as a little sidebar but they ought to be totally embarrassed to have that as the cover story on a supposed serious publication.

  8. Not bad, but what The Onion’s writers missed satirizing about Time’s style was the magazine’s jaw-dropping capacity to start with the dead obvious before blundering on through the merely uninteresting like second grade remedial ed teachers trying to lead their charges through the intricacies of using a teeter-totter. A case in point here.

  9. I wonder if the article mentioned this little “factoid”….Obama has 300 foreign policy advisors. Yes, “The One” needs that much help.
I do hope the Americans wake up soon and see this player for the opportunistic Marxist he really is.

  10. Are we watching the actual dividing and up coming fall of the USA happening?
Like a banned slow motion loony-toon vid clip?
Seriously – that saying – united we stand, divided we fall, is all I can think of.
9/11 has succeeded because of the complete help of a large group of USA people – “them” -self loathing appeasers.
The rich, the influential and the utterly ignorant, playing right into the hands of the terrorists and their money handlers.
There were Jews in the French countryside who were told about the invading Nazi’s and what they were doing to the Jews in the so called ‘work camps’, they refused to listen or believe anyone who was not the ‘authoritative voice’ as well …

  11. The media is so enthralled with this vacuous… (I was about to say black hole but that has been deemed “racist” by people who look up to corky as an intellectual giant.)
The good thing is that when the public has to listen fawning media circle-jerks for long enough they tend to get nauseous and start to want the subject of this uncritical attention to bugger off (unless they’re someone important like an actor or musician.) The election is a long way off…
When you turn the people’s stomachs, you lose their votes. By the time November rolls around, all McCain will have to do is be plain and boring – which is his strong point…
