    I am ashamed of him as a Canadian. Wish I had a newspaper column to tell the same public what an ass he is. A few pictures of Mugabe’s victims would set the piece of just nicely.

  12. Remember when Margolis was a regular on Studio 2 with Janice Stein and Richard Gwyn? I think Paiken and company thought he’d be the token righty, but it turned out he was even more far-left loopy than the other two combined. They had to kick him off the show because of his nuttiness.

    The headline caught my attention…what can I say…?
    Seriously…how would we know about the loony-left unless we read the stuff? We couldn’t bash the Fifer, Taber, or Newman unless we watch,right?
    I pay close attention to Zimbabwe as I have close friends who had to leave their beloved Rhodhesia, and had to swallow their disgust for the way Canada and the rest of the west ignored the terrorist take over, and came here to raise the kids. He’s Canadian, went over to fight the terrorists , married and when he tried to bring the family back the Canadian immigration gave her a hard time…she’s white.A black from Zimbabwe could claim refugee status, not the whites who were being terrorised.
    Margolis is ignorant of the facts and can write garbage like that because most(not all) who read his stuff are just as ignorant.

  17. Good for Mugabe for refusing to be pushed around by the hypocritical western powers screaming about his electoral fraud while blessing worse fraud and oppression in the Arab, Central Asian, and African dictatorships they support.
    What an absolute typical lefty moron. There is no “blessing” being conferred upon thug states which are 3/4 of the globe mind you. Never mind that most of the world’s easily accessible oil, needed for our economies to survive, is situated in thug states. Never mind that Russia, NK and Pakistan have nuclear capabilities. Never mind that when humanitarian aid is given to those thugs state attempts are made to make it conditional. In the very real circumstances of global realities you’ve got to pick your battles and hold your nose often because you simply can’t take on the world.
    The US and Canadian state departments can’t do much about Russia and Venezuela rigged elections. They can’t do much about China and most of the ME on that issue because they don’t have elections. Of course, Margolis omits the two places in the ME where no elections were a problem, Iraq and Afghanistan, got fixed. Mugabe didn’t rig the last election, he out right lost it. It makes it far easier to publically condemn him, an important point that Margolis is too dumb to get. What an idiotic putz for cheering for that.
    Stupid lefties always employ the whole or nothing standard even when in their own personal reltationships that’s impossible. It’s totally disingenuous.

  18. It would be interesting to see what kind of loopy-leftist dribble Eric would spew out concerning today’s exchange between Israel and Hezbollah.
    Israel and Hezbollah have made an agreement to exchange abducted Israeli soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser in return for convicted terrorist Samir Kuntar and four other Lebanese prisoners
    Kuntar was involved in the 1979 killing of 3 Israeli’s, including a 4 year old girl.
    Smadar Haran Kaiser, describes her daughter’s death.
    “Then he smashed my little girl’s skull in against a rock with his rifle butt. That terrorist was Samir Kuntar.”
    One of the more disheartening scenes the Canadian public will no doubt witness in the upcoming days is the celebration of Kuntar by the Lebanese.
    What does it say about a society who can call a man like this a hero? A man who in a cold, calculating style deliberately took the end of his rifles and smashed in a 4 year old’s head.
    This was not a crime of passion, or something that occurred in the heat of battle. It was a planned out, well executed brutal killing of a little girl.
    We are witnessing Israel trying to move beyond outstanding grievances and trying to go in the direction of constructive engagement with its neighbours.
    The reaction of the neighbours is to hold up a child killer on a pedestal as if he is a hero. How can Israel have peace with people who have who squandered away their morality to the point where they are barely recognizable as human beings?

    This is a man who spent time with the Afghan mujahadeen early on in the soviet invasion. He admires them greatly, and seems to have filtered all his views through the Islamist/anti-US/evil Joooos phrasebook ever since.
    Have a look at some of his prior columns. He has a terminal case of BDS, and likewise is derisive of anything to the right of Mao (“neo-cons”is his preferred terminology).
    The man jumped feet first into moonbat territory a couple of decades ago, and seems to find this to his liking.

  25. Margolis is operationally insane. He doesn’t think; he rants. He has a pathological hatred of the US, of Bush, of the West.
    He can’t be called ‘right’ or ‘left’ because he doesn’t seem to have any intellectual capacity to think through a theory or to provide any factual support for his rants.
    He’s just about the worst of the MSM junk. There’s Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star, who is equally ignorant and biased but isn’t as freaked out as Margolis. And the various other MSM pundits – Salutin, Tabers, Galloway etc etc. They are all mild compared to the total irrational emotionalism of Margolis.
    Yet – he might have been kicked off the Studio 2 panel because Janice Stein and Richard Gwyn (both rather traditional Liberal types) couldn’t handle his rants – but he’s been back on to Steve Paikin’s Agenda.

  27. Margolis’ world revolves around the evil US empire. Everything is “analyzed” through that biased prism. Thus if US criticizes a state or person, that automatically puts them in the right because, well, US is always wrong. Of course, Margolis would deny this, but his silly and ridiculous article (Condy Rice is girl Friday, nothing racist or sexist about that, eh) presents ample evidence of his biased worldview.
    While I believe Margolis occupies the same headspace as Siddiqui and Salutin, they are far worse than Taber, Gwyn and Stein (who used to be quite good until she lost it). Galloway is something like Margolis in that everything she says is ill informed and quite irrelevant.

He likes to flaunt his intellect (I know, what intellect?!) by giving opinion/analysis that most others don’t in the hopes that people will think he’s on to something for taking a different view. In fact, on Studio2 on 9/11 (a TV Ontario political talk program, which airs at 8PM ET), Margolis said that he thought everyone was getting it wrong and that he felt the Japanese Red Army could be behind the 9/11 attacks. And remember, this was almost 12 hours AFTER the 9/11 attacks. Just goes to show you that this guy is completely out of his mind.

    If you want to play amateur psychologist on the guy, note that his father Harry was a wealthy New York Jewish businessman and theatre impresario, who had two wives, one an Israeli actress, the other an Albanian Muslim, Nexhmie Zaimi, Eric’s mother, who was one of the first journalists to champion the Palestinian cause.
    With its Chomskyite overlay, Margolis’s writing expresses a sympathy for Islamism, as he usually champions Pakistan (but not is current leader), and vilifies India, and of course, has little use for Israel and other insults to his “Muslim World.”
    How he continues to have a platform in Sun Media is a mystery.

  42. Honestly, everybody, just ignore this. I’ve never heard of this Margolis fellow before. Based on reading this single article of his, I’m hard-pressed to figure out how he makes a living at journalism. I recommend everybody simply ignore the fellow. I plan to promptly forget him myself.

    If McCain wins, he can spend 4 years criticizing him as a neo-con who failed to understand the delicate sensibilities of his NVA jailors/torturers.
    If Barry Hussein wins, he can spend 4 years creaming his jeans about how the “progressives” are revitalizing the US’s image, while blaming Bush for everything he does wrong.
    Margolis will be seriously lacking credibility either way.

  45. I hate to admit it, but I used to read every one of Herr Eric’s columns. I would read them to see how many paragraphs it would take before Israel was blamed for whatever drivel and grievance he was blathering about that week. I think the most he ever made it to was 6. Of course, that was before he contracted his terminal case of Bush Derangement Syndrome but even today he still manages to squeeze in a reference to Israel in between his paranoid fantasies about the Great Satan. Not that he is a raging anti-Semite mind you, it’s all just astute political commentary.
