  1. “Some scientists have warned that…”
also it has been said that
“Some scientists think some scientists are scientifically compromised by their addiction to grants…”

  2. “Shaken”, they’re not necessarily compromised. There will always be disagreement and argument within the scientific community, and that’s a good thing. The diversity of thought within it’s various disciplines is one of the strong points of the scientific community. The problem here is that non-scientists like to latch on to whichever argument seems to support their preconceived beliefs, and hold it up as if it were the Ultimate Proof of their thesis, while ignoring any evidence from the opposing camp. Both sides of the global-warming argument are guilty of this.

  3. I agree, Alex. Yet until the day I can obtain a reliable weather forecast for even a couple of days out, my skepticism will remain at space shuttle altitudes.

  4. John Coleman, The Weather Channel founder;
“In my remarks in New York I speculated that perhaps we should sue Al Gore for fraud because of his carbon credits trading scheme. That remark has caused a stir in the fringe media and on the internet. The concept is that if the media won’t give us a hearing and the other side will not debate us, perhaps we could use a Court of law to present our papers and our research and if the Judge is unbiased and understands science, we win. The media couldn’t ignore that. That idea has become the basis for legal research by notable attorneys and discussion among global warming debunkers, but it’s a long way from the Court room.”
Please speed it up – it may be the quickest way to stop the insanity.

  5. I wonder if a nuclear device would qualify as Accelerated Global Warming (AGW)?
Truly this stuff is of “Sun Spockian” ™ proportions!
I gather the Goracle will be sending squadrons of Catepillar earth moving equipment to prevent the Dutch from drowning.
What with 20 foot rising sea levels you would think that a new Ark of the Covenant would be in order. Oh, lions first before sheeple when trying to avoid “Hell or Highwater”.
Sounds all rather Apocalyptic to me. Cue the 4 horsemen the false profits are about to arrive at a carbon credit exchange near you.

  6. Why was that big island in the north Atlantic named Greenland instead of Whiteland?
When the melting during the the Medieval Warming Period (approx 950 to 1100 A.D.) caused glacial ice melting to the extent that the fiord’s of that island were ice free and lush green with vegetation, the island was appropriately named Greenland. That warming period caused much more glacial ice melting than anything recently.
Some questions arise from this-was there massive flooding as so many fear mongers say will happen with the more recent melt? No there was not.
Did the polar bears perish? No they did not.
    Please AGW radicals, explain.
And while you are at it, please explain why the earth has been cooling as of late?

  7. Never mind the Eemian interglacial, a hundred some odd thousand years ago that was significantly warmer than today. Polar bear fossils pre-dating this period have been found. Not of interest though in the decision of whether or not to place the polar bear on the endagered species list.

  8. So let’s recap here, AGW is supposed to be causing record flooding. Now let’s see, where did all this water come from? Oh yes, record level snowpacks from a very long winter without any significant thaws. So if AGW causes flooding, it’s because it in turn caused more and deeper snow which resulted from longer and colder winters.
So, AGW causes colder and longer winters. I think I understand it all now.

  9. Not to mention the Holocene Optimum, when the mid-summer sun was more directly overhead in the Arctic and Arctic temps were significantly higher than today. Polar Bears survived that just fine not eight thousand years ago.
Gawd this is so frustrating. These warmies are deaf to reason.

  10. Tim…Polar bears ARE endangered,if we let the eco-terroists try to save them. Mother Nature has a funny way of looking after herself.Save a polar bear, feed him a PETA.:)

  11. I am confused. The global warming freaks are the same people who want about 80% of humanity gone.
Nothing will rid the planet of pesky humans faster than diminishing human habitat and food supply.
Why not let their dreaded climate change do their cull for them? Perhaps it is they who are confused.

  12. they can’t forecast tomorrows weather so what’s with all of these catastrophic predictions related to global warming after one of the coldest winters on record???
    todays eco-doomers are yesterdays communists

  13. I studied a bit about the weather in college and even with my limited training I know the larger the temperature differential in 2 weather systems the greater the chance you will have violent climate when they interact. Now if global warming as I understand it causes a much higher level of heating in the more northern and southern latitudes that would mean a much lower difference in temperature between the majority of systems.Of course this spring proves that concept because its one of the coldest in 20 plus years and we have the most violent weather inthe same time frame.

  14. Yesterday was actually sweltering…..22 degrees. It felt so hot that I could actually wear short sleeves in the afternoon. Alas, today at noon we are back to 12 degrees. The average daily high for this week…..21 degrees. I don’t give a rats ass about GLOBAL warming, I just want EDMONTON warming….at least for a couple of weeks this summer.

  15. What absolutely baffles me is how so many lefties that are getting off on the GW thing do not appear to be remotely sceptical.
Wheres the misstrust of the man?
Wheres the doubt and critism that they display routinely for all other things?

  16. I’ll take some of that kewl weather, it feels like 95 down heya in Luisi-Yana. I swear you can’t go outside without a cold one in your hand.

  17. Well now, I see Tim Russert is dead from a heart attack today.
Is Hillary already getting even ?

  18. As Moses said when he was found floating in a wicker basket on the flood waters of the Nile. (Or was that the Euphrates??) “How high’s the water mama??” The truth is that flooding is not a result of global warming and/or cooling. It’s the result of excessive rain or snow! If you want to complicate that statement any further, you’ll have the jon the International Associations of Disillusioned Forecasters.

  19. Severe thunderstorms, tornado’s are more INTENSE when cold arctic air hits warm tropical air.
Less intense storms are a result of warmer arctic weather meeting warm tropical air.
So isn’t the more intense storms a result of global cooling in the arctic?
The Global warming crowd can’t have it both ways.

  20. Gus, you are hilarious. I live through nordic blasts originating north of the 49th each winter so can understand the frustration. From a glass half full perspective, it does filter the riff raff. Don’t tell anyone. This place is growing faster than I ever anticipated as it is. “Google go home!”

  21. Just a thought!
Could the unexplained double homicide of 2 innocent men in a RANGE ROVER in Toronto possibly be explained by someone disgruntled over
    1) gas prices?
    2) environmental issues?
The only suspect remains a bicyclist pedalling away from the crime scene.

  22. “Did the polar bears perish? No they did not.”
Their decendants are now known as Brown Bears. That’s called “adaptation”
Much like the REAL “first nations” are now known as Chileans. The North American Indians were the first “invading force” in North America. They accomplished what their decendants could not! (see HIRO HITO) They are no more “first nations” than us europeans, they just have a better press agent/litigator (see AMULANCE CHASERS..MERCHANT)

  23. Examining the chart accompanying the story reveals this:
10 year average annual trend – 1270 tornadoes per year
    2005 – 1264
    2006 – 1105
    2007 – 1085
There would appear to be a strong downward trend in the number of tornadoes, for if the three years cited are subtracted from the 10 year average, the average for the previous 7 years is 1321 tornadoes per year. So the last two years have seen a reduction of at least 15% in the number of tornadoes. Gotta love that global warming.

  24. Blame CNN. Now we get to see all 1200 tornadoes up close, listen to the victims first hand accounts, see hours of aerial video of the damage. I don’t know if it’s a bad thing, but it would be nice if they’d quit acting like this sort of thing never happened before we had 24/7 coverage of every square inch of America.

  25. What, CNN does weather?
I thought they had become the Celebrity News Network with all their idiotic coverage of the Hulk Hogan family and continuous other stories on the much troubled Hollywood Stars.
Be sure to take our important poll now – Does the Hulk look good in yellow?
The BBC beats CNN’s pathetic superficial coverage of world events hands down.

  26. It is the excess cold weather that is spawning the tornadoes, but there is no slowing down the Gore nazies. No matter what happens these days it is blamed on Global warming.

  27. And we were being told that global warming would make hurricanes more worse then ever and were suppost to be getting world wide flooding like was shown in that silly KEVIN COSNER movie WATER WORLD and so far nothing at all AL GORE IS A LIAR
