    A European female journalist whose name escapes me stated “Muslims are breeding like rates”.
    She was naturally castigated.
    It’s a rather crude and rude way of saying “Muslims have a high birth rate”
    By using insects and vermin in allusions, one weakens the arguments and discussion points laying one open to charges of racism.

    Splain … How can it be considered racism? It is no different that saying catholics are breeding like mosquitoes. There is no race implied, but rather, a religious sect.

  7. I don’t think canuck guy is refuting the statement. I believe that he has heard the familiar refrain from the apologists way too often. When confronted with facts about Islam,many automatically yell ‘RACISM’ at the top of their lungs. This allows them to feel morally superior and usually results in the debate being over for different reasons. 1;you realize that you are talking to a fool, 2; no one likes to be called a racist,even when the allegation is totally baseless,3;you do not want to spend time in the hoosegow for opening a little window in their skull to allow more oxygen to their brain.

  11. Canukguy, Oriana Fallaci is the name you are having difficulty with. You should read her work. She was an impressive author,and a hell of a great reporter. She wasn’t just “castigated” for her work by the way. Do some digging. Try Jihad Watch, or perhaps read some of Robert Spencer’s works.

Canuckguy, the “Muslims…mosquitoes” comment in Steyn’s work was one particularly objected to by the actual HRC complainant, El Masry, and by the sock-puppets who have been fronting for him; the problem is, Steyn was quoting a prominent Norwegian imam, and has sourced the statement publically for the perpetually-offended … naturally, it has made no difference that it was a Muslim who actually said it, they still complain of it, and complain, and complain, and complain….

    I don’t think that’ll be a problem. The TVO host was on Dennis Miller’s radio show. Apparently for some strange and absolutely inexplicable reason, the ‘Osgoode 3’ can’t find anybody to hire them.

  23. The issue “breeding like mosquito’s” has everything to do with the rights of an author or publisher in Canada to quote and then publish the words of an independent news source.
    Why aren’t the sock puppets outraged at the Norwegian Imam who stated the innocuous and accurate metaphor?
    They have proven beyond doubt that their intent to disrupt our legal system is belying the true agenda, to push their “Muslim Canada” offensive. The goal is to silence publishers and strong arm Canadians to fear the Muslim like any gang or mafia that recently moved into the neighborhood. They are threatening our livelihoods by using our own institutions as their muscle if we refuse to pay their ransom(s).
    As in Europe they will not stop! Regardless of the HRC outcome they are the winners. If they “lose” (what’s for them to lose?) they continue the process anew with someone else somewhere else and will grind Canadians down day by day, year by year. It will never end until the Canadian people speak as a country and say enough is enough.

  31. This is an important video which should be widely distributed to Canadian Members of Parliament as well as Provincial legislatures, to get their views on the issue. Mark is right, this is one of the most fascinating and important topics for discussion of our time.
    These 3 young lawyers are feeling threatened and insecure about their position in our society, and rightfully so. But in using their legal skills to fight negative perceptions of Islam, instead they may only adding to it. They clearly don’t fully understand the ‘can of worms’ that they inadvertently triggered, and the greater dialogue in Canada, with and within the Muslim community that must come out of this matter, if we are to bridge the obvious divide.
    Mark and McLean’s are not the problem here. They are just the messengers. Mark reports on what he sees happening in the world,and backs up his viewpoint with facts and context. This is the time honored tradition of a free press. Mark and McLean’s in no way advocated hated, they only reflected back the images and words of Muslim leaders. These young lawyers didn’t like what they saw, but attacked the wrong target. If they want to be listened to, they should speak out loudly against those Muslims who preach hated and violence. Unfortunately, they are very likely to be beaten up or even murdered from within their own communities should they hold such views.
    These young people need to grow a thicker skin, and concentrate on cleaning up their own houses first. How about devoting their legal expertise to fighting for the rights of their less fortunate Muslim sisters in repressive Islamic regimes? That would get them a tons of respect and acceptance in Canadian society at large.
    But in the meanwhile, stop whining!

  34. The commentary below is circulating on the internet and provides an excellent historical context for us to view the current rising tide of militant Islam. Let us not forget George Santayana’s remarkable insight: ‘Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.’
    A German’s point of view on Islam.
    A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.
    ‘Very few people were true Nazis ‘he said,’ but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything.     We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true,
    it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the
    fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
    It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 5 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the ‘peaceful majority’, the ‘silent majority’, is cowed and extraneous.
    Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.
    China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
    The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
    And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?
    History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
    Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
    Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
    Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
    As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
