  1. Every time we send up a new Mars SUV we contribute to Mars global warming don’t you know. Oh the humanity!

  2. Fantastic.
Landing a lab on Europa will be even harder, and much more important…

  3. Kate, if you can find the time to make a 100 mile trip to North Battleford, a little bit of space history could be made there tomorrow – Michel Fournier is attempting the world record of the highest skydive, from 130 thousand feet. The old record was set in 1961 by Joe Kittinger, who technically became the first man in space when he parachuted down from 102800 feet. From what I can tell from the website, the balloon will take off around 4:30am and the jump will occur around noon.

  4. Well we Know what parts of NASA are results driven!
I hear that NASA has convinced Gore that he & the AGW experts need an upclose inspection of Solar Sun Spots. NASA’s plan is for them to travel at Night.

  5. Actually I think the Mars mission is a big hoax just like the moon landing. In fact governments have been lying to the public for hundreds of years. It is a well known fact that Columbus never discovered the new world. It was done from a sound stage in Madrid.

  6. “Failure is not an option.” Way to go gang. Not as glitzy as a human landing but incredable given the complexity of getting there in one piece.
I find it a bit amusing though that so far I’ve read at least two MSM articles that claim that there has been only a 50% sucess rate. What they gloss over is that most of the failures were Russian spacecraft.
The truth is out there… unless of course you have a deadline or spin due.

  7. Amazing how these scientists can shoot at a target 420 millions miles away and put it inside the X-ring. Meanwhile some earthbound far-left libs can’t find their ass using both hands… 😉
More wonderful science to be done in the next three months.

Fe Man, I agree, but I have this creeping fear that all of these efforts will come to a screeching halt if Obama wins the general.

  9. Great pictures! After seeing them I can’t get “Great deal on East Taber Acreage” out of my mind.

  10. Yeehaa we gets a landing on mars and soon eough MARVIN and K-9 will have another interesting earth antiqe

  11. The Red Planet – close up !
Imagine how quickly this image may have stopped the Orson Welles radio panic of 38.
“Welles made an important change: under his direction the play was written and performed so it would sound like a news broadcast about an invasion from Mars, a technique that, presumably, was intended to heighten the dramatic effect.]
    Sounds like a CTV production – make a biased Taber/Fife spin-bin skit seem like a news-item.
[Not unlike Stanislaw Lem’s deluded populace, people were stuck in a kind of virtual world in which fiction was confused for fact.]
    Sounds like Global Warming Hype.
[They have proved that a few effective voices, accompanied by sound effects, can convince masses of people of a totally unreasonable, completely fantastic proposition as to create a nation-wide panic.]
Throw in a few iceberg calving scenes and you have Al Goreism.
[And, as happened with the Orson Welles broadcast, an effort was made to ensure that such manipulations wouldn’t recur.]
    Did. In Kyoto Japan.
[But in 1990, it happened again. Audiences around the world discovered that they were taken in by the ultimate Hollywood illusion in which two performers faked their own talent, lip-syncing, to create the impression they were singing.]
    See! Hollywood, Oscars.
[More to the point, we live in a time in which the ability to create deceptive simulations, especially for television, has become essential to the exercise of power. And the inability to see through these deceptions has become a form of powerlessness. Those who let themselves be taken in by the multiple deceptions of politics, news, advertising and public relations, are doomed, like the more gullible members of the radio audience in 1938, to play a role in other people’s dramas, while mistakenly believing that they are reacting to something genuine.] Transparency
Presto ! An Inconvenient Truth !!
Nothing is new – except Mars pictures 🙂
