“But just in case you’re still running into the sophomores in college who with their professor-instilled new-found knowledge are going to continue to tell you that it’s all a conspiracy man and the oil companies are working together to keep us down, here is another little tidbit that should help you quelch those little brats up…”

Soybean is a biofuel, so “Big Soybean” is not too far off.
If Bob Rae’s Liberal Party is elected, how long do you think it will be before we have a Soy Bean Marketing Board? And once we have it, will the world not be thus made more perfect?
I have never gotten the whole “big oil” thing.
Are there mom and pop oil companys? Anyone involved in the go juice industry has got to have some serious cash behind them.
Jim, just check out the oil industry in redniK Albertie. Lots o’ lil mom & pop operations, milking the Oil-Cow for all it’s worth.
Why stop at a Soy Bean Marketing Board?
We need a Soy Bean Registry.
What ?
And all this time I thought China was sending that soyabean by-product back to us as Wheat Glutin.
,
China can save itself by becoming Big Soybean.
we don’t need no stinkin oilsands………
China was formerly a net exporter of Oil. That wasn’t that long ago.
It’s now the second largest importer of oil next to the US.
That will have an effect on prices.
Brazil and India’s consumption is skyrocketing as well (even if not as fast as China.)
They’re burning oil to make stuff. They use other resources to make stuff, too (not to dwell on the obvious.) What do you think the price for base metals has done in the past few years?
Now that the Chinese are relatively more wealthy, they’re adding real food to their diets and that is…. That’s right folks! – increasing the price of potash and other fertilizers as well as grains (it doesn’t help than the greentards/leftards are buring food for fuel.)
Between the BRIC countries they’re going to add about 600 million more people to the middle class in the next decade or two, all of which will want middle class stuff. Think cars, indoor plumbing, appliances, heat and AC, and all the conveniences we take for granted.
You think resources are expensive now? Just wait – you ain’t seen nutten yet.
“Big Oil” haters always neglect to mention the Exxon alone pays more in annual taxes that the entire bottom 50% of individual tax payers combined in the US.
I luv how the commentor at the link states that the price of gas has tripled but China’s demand has not tripled
guess he ain’t an economics major:-)))
Opps!!!!
“BigSoyBean” Brings back so many youthful memories, years ago shortly out of highschool I ended up at a soyamill in a large Canadian city on the shoreline of a large Canadian lake, as a yard hand our crew would use a forklift to haul skidloads of oil drums to the plants private dock and pour the contents into said large Canadian lake. I have no idea what we were dumping but I did notice that the foremen always made themselves scarce…. I’m SURE the modern soya biofuel industry has given up that quaint ritual.
That’s a nice litte run on sentence you’ve got going there Kate…
; )
Cheers!

Peak Oil is coming, or already here. Hydrocarbon prices will continue to rise as existing reserves are depleted to be replaced by more technically demanding fields, the cost being passed on to the consumer. And of course rising demand will continue to outstrip supply regardless. We’ll all look back on $100/barrel as the good old days.
As for “Big Oil”, they’re all getting bitch slapped by the Kremlin/Gazprom. BP-TNK is currently facing the same pressure as Shell/Exxon was subjected to on Sakhalin Island. Chevron, Total all beggars at the table. As I work in the industry I can say with authority that accessible large fields are a thing of the past. Even drilling in American parkland won’t satisfy the thirst for long. The promise of access to the Russian territories is what keeps some of these companies from a downturn.
As an aside, whether the world is heating up or cooling down, I don’t think we want to see a soybean consortium in control of the diminishing food producing land.
We seriously need to find a way to make broccoli into fuel.
What we need is a whole lot more nuke plants.
Broccoli?????
I see a lot more pizzerias and hot dog carts in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver…Now that’s a lot of biofuel! And it would starve a lot of Leftards in the process if we were to exploit these unnatural resources!
And these young nit wits will stil contribute to GREENPEACE,SIERRA CLUB and OPEC to keep us dependent on forgein oil supplies SCREW THEM ALL
