Joe Six Pack: “The Greek thing.”
Me; “No, that’s not what I was thinking of”.
JSP: “The Tory staffer who supposedly set up a meeting with some Greeks …”
Me: “No, I don’t mean that – hardly qualified as a scandal.”
JSP: “uhhh…”
Me: “It was bigger than that.”
JSP: “Oh! The Afghan detainee thing!”
Me: “Yes! That’s the one… isn’t it amazing what one dead independent MP can do to clear* the media memory banks?”

Interesting, I have been recently thinking about the number os “scandals involving Federal politics since 1867. My memory indicates that the Liberal Pary is way way out in front on all fronts. Number of scandals, number of involved cabinet ministers, number of lives ruined, monies and land stolen. While no political party can be free of scandal (human nature at work) the liberal party has and will continue to “lead the way” to the pork barrel.
Are these MSM reporters and their hallucinations da proof, da proof, of “a metastasized pundit caste constantly searching for new angles,” (ibid)?

Winnipegman, you are right, i believe, but it may be just because the liberals have be ru(i)nning this country for 80% of its existence.
I’d like to see Dona Cadman come out and tell the Liberals to shut the hell up and stop playing gotcha politics on the back of her dead husband.
The Liberals have stooped to the lowest form of life in this attempt to GET Harper.
They abstain from voting to bring the government down because they have no money or organization with a Gnome for a Leader. They’re scared sh*tless in spite of the bravado from Ralphie Goodale and a few other buffoons.
Harper needs to put teeth into the litigation and call their bluff, they’re begging for it.
Watching MDL tonite,I almost gagged watching Goodale splutter and blow.I find the man absolutely revolting, and doesn’t the class of a Klik sandwich! The way he has ramped up his rhetoric, and over-talking anyone else on the panel is just puke-worthy..and somewhat desperate.I wonder if the good folk in his riding will turf this fool,IF and when the Libs get some gonads, and actually vote something, anything down.
liz…the MSM are begging for it too.
Do their stories ever reach a …turning point? The denouement comes sooner these days…
hmmm…feiler…feeler..FEELER..faster, faster, FASTER…
aahhh…

Just read at the G&M,that the second date that authour said Cadman met with Con.operatives..the one that dhalla was in a state over in QP today, has BEEN REMOVED from his book!!! Galloway states this helps PMSH’s cause.I note that it didn’t make the big headline section tho,it’s down in small print (surprise) in National section…lookin better all the time.
despicable bottom feeders, but hey if $300,000 from decades ago doesn’t cut it then a recently dead man might.
dat his not fare.
this his ha scandal hove the tories. this his made hup of bad tings and izzy jump on hopper tuneity of the liberal party having no place to go havink run haway from heach and heavery hissue. Borat Dion
New angle of focus for the CBC and LPC: demanding to know the name of the “two operatives”. The public has the right to know, they suggest. I agree. Was Pablo one of the two? Or was he simply a proxy? Oops! Different matter.
The fat old goalie was pissed right off again in QP today, mad as hell at Harper, these lieberals are the most sordid detestable bottom feeders ever to coagulate in the house of commons. Every day must cost millions for these scumbags to continue to try to make something out of nothing. Please call an election Steve and get the majority you need! The so called know it alls like flitting Keith Brownsey and every other pathetic professor said Ed Stelmach was dead here in Alberta, well he sure shut them asses up last night, get er done now, and continue to sue these shitbags while your at it.

Man are you old! I hope my memore serves so well. wink.
from Straight.com:
Chuck Cadman’s former staffer says there was only one meeting before vote.
A former employee of deceased MP Cadman,Dan Wallace has issued a statement saying there was only one meeting with two top Conservative Party of Canada officials before Cadman voted on the 2005 budget.
Wallace stated that the May 17 date mentioned in an upcoming Cadman biography is WRONG,and the only mtg.occurred on May 19 between Cadman and two close associates of the prime minister:Tom Flanagan, and Doug Finley.
Wallace’s brief statement did not mention if Cadman met with other Cons.officials prior to mtg.Finley and Flanagan shortly beforew the budget vote.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
statement from Mr.Dan Wallace
The May meeting date included in a soon to be released book about Chuck Cadman is inaccurate.Unfortunately, because of that error, some MEDIA are now reporting that there were two mtgs.,one on May 17,and another on May 19,2005,between party officials-Doug Finley and Tom Flanagan-and Chuck Cadman. For the record, there was only one mtg.between my former employer,Chuck Cadman, with Doug Finley, and Tom flanagan and it took place in his private office on May 19th.As I have stated publicly last week,I was outside that room, and not privy to the details.
BAM! I have a strong feeling, that PMSH,held this info back, and maybe this whole thing is the chess game of all time!Waiting for the retraction Steffi!!!
I am a Canadian and I hate the liberals with a passion – they are the most immoral and corrupt group of misfits imaginable…
please proceed with your civil action Mr. Prime Minister – sue their asses with extreme prejudice….
BAM! I have a strong feeling, that PMSH,held this info back, and maybe this whole thing is the chess game of all time!Waiting for the retraction Steffi!!! – Sammy
That’s exactly what it is.
The budget vote abstentions. The crime bill is another: Harper demands that Dion tell the Liberal-dominated senate to pass the crime bill; Dion said he had no “authority” to do that; Harper bypasses him and the bill gets passed (those Tory ads were right after all. Dion ISN’T a leader – by his own admission.); and he’ll be forced to apologize on the bribery allegations, further emasuclating him (is that even possible?)
Bring on the election!
According to Ezra Levant’s blog:
Last week, former party chief of staff Tom Flanagan and campaign manager Doug Finley identified themselves as the two men in question, but they categorically denied the book’s claim, and disputed other basic facts in the book, including the date of the meeting.
So what more do the LPC and CBC want? Or would they prefer some other unknown backbenchers rather than men of that stature and integrity.
The Liberal Party has ceased to be the Official Opposition, as it is not taking part in major votes in the House of Commons. Instead it has become a personal slander machine, set on cementing in Canadians’ minds the “Harper: bullying, lying Dictator” mantra. The mantra has been in constant use by the CBC, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star and CTV, and now Don Martin of the National Post. Bob Rae today was slandering the whole Conservative Party, calling them thugs, liars and incompetent.
I am utterly revolted by what is being done by the establishment in this country. They cannot accept that they are no longer in charge. They cannot accept that the economic power in this country is shifting away from the Ontario/Quebec sacred axis. They cannot accept that their culture of amoral relativism, anti-family stance and anti-personal responsibilty value set might be wrong, might be rejected. They “know best”—but more and more Canadians are waking up. The current slime-fest will, one hopes, rouse even more people.
The problem still being the press slanting their headlines to suit their fancy.
The Liberals are trying to make the Conservatives look as bad as Liberals by making stuff up.
ps. When will the Liberals re-pay the Forty-Million-Dollars they stole from Canadians?
Hey, did everyone seem to forget about 1 friggin’ BILLION Dollars down the toilet?
It’s one thing for the Lieberals to be bankrupt in every sense of the word but to be willing to showcase it every day in the HOC, their only venue for false accusations, is dumb.
They’re more like Court Jesters as they stand and toss muck.
We have the slate of Jesters, Homer Simpson Dion, emoting blabber puss Ruby,”I’m ravishing” Dhalla,
Drone Dryden, old puck stopper turned child care expert, Jerky Ralphy Goodale who has the verbal runs, and their back room elves digging dirt.
That’s the important stuff for Lieberals, they all show up to cheer and jeer but can’t make it to vote for their own budget amendment.
As if that’s not enough, expert on all things military, petit Generale Denis Coderre, stood on a point of order to tell Mr. Speaker someone told him to “shut-up”, he was offended, poor baby.
Let’s hope Harper pulls the plug, let the Lieberals take their show on the road.
That’s the show we’re paying for and we aren’t getting value for money
By accusing Harper of being a bully, the Liberals are simply admitting that they are weak and ineffective. Yet, the MSM and Liberal supporters would have us believe that “weak and ineffective” are desirable qualities for a governing party. Who would Canadians prefer look out for their interests, the so-called bully or the weak and ineffective?
he got the number of meetings wrong
he got the date of the one meeting wrong
Obviously a reliable, trustworthy author.
I hope the Liberals enjoy him as their witness in when the Libel case gets to court.
The largest and most disgusting Tory scandal I recall is when the Tory stacked senate passed Alana Rock’s gun control act unamended…this costly farce/scandal would not be possible without the willingness of the Tory senators to pass it…and so 10 years and 2 billion dollars later we have another Tory government who were mandated on a promise to repeal this law, sitting on their thumbs like the Tory senators who saddled us with this gluttonous patronage trough.
Remember that the Liberal Party was something very different prior to PET (mayherotinhell) … but for now;
As long as the media clowns are willing (and they are) to keep resetting the counter after each episode the Liberals can continue to exhibit their incompetence and mendacity.
When (if ever) the MSM starts to put the perfidy of the LIberals into some context there will be a massive change in the view of the general population about their fitness to represent ANYONE in government.
I for one will NOT be holding my breath!
Perhaps someone has a link to that list of 201 sins of the LIberals? I think it’s time for an update !

Speaking of bully, remember when Chretien throttled that protester by grabbing him by the throat before violently casting him aside? He was given the rock star treatment by the MSM. They gave him top marks in all categories of the Official Cool Index.
What if that never happened then? What if it happened today for the first time? I wonder how the MSM would be describing Harper and which terms they would be using. Bully, dictator, etc.
“Yet, the MSM and Liberal supporters would have us believe that “weak and ineffective” are desirable qualities for a governing party.”
Yes, isn’t it interesting? One of the knocks against Harper by the MSM way back when was that he wasn’t good PM material because, as they put it, he has no charisma and he’s a policy wonk. Sounds like the current Liberal leader, doesn’t it? But, as you put it, the MSM is now telling us that those are the characteristics one should look for in a party leader.
Hi there, told you they were doing an end run on the liberals. This makes four in a row. Merle Underwood.
Lib muck-raking du jour.
The Ottawa Citizen goes after Baird.
“Liberals demand watchdog probe ‘intervention’ in O’Brien case”
“Hours before the Ontario Provincial Police halted its plan to forward their bribery dossier on Mayor Larry O’Brien to the Mounties, the force was contacted by the chief of staff for John Baird, the Ottawa cabinet minister twice interviewed by detectives for any role he may have played in the criminal affair.”
Sometimes enough is damn well enough.
Release the RCMP to investigate ALL the Lib horror stories which are still uninvestigated.

ow we hear from a legal “expert” that Cadman’s heresay could be, should Harper/Tories be charged with bribery, admissible. The expert by the way is a law professor, IOW, not practicising law. Let’s see, no evidence whatsoever that alleged meeting even took place (withdrawn from book already, the infamous “second” meeting). Cadman supposedly told this story two months later, surely highly medicated, then it’s released in a book 2 1/2 years later, and so on. What nonsense.
The only trial will be the libel trial Dionsky and company will have to deal with (they can forget using taxpayer dollars, just the indirect “contributions” like Tories). Oh right, Duff Conacher doesn’t think PM has case. That’s why the top defamation lawyer in Canada has taken the case, eh Duff. Duff, which part of “Harper knew of bribery” don’t you understand.
Tories have a good case, in my non-legal opinion; but the real deal will be putting Grits in Discovery, where they have to provide all documentation, including emails and so on.
Harper said today “see you in court.” He is not bluffing on this one; Grits better serve up their mea culpa real soon – the defence of truth is nonsense – they will have to argue misunderstanding or privilege (just repeating Hansard). Neither will work, though.
Cannot find any trolls today – where are those iberia things?
“Perhaps someone has a link to that list of 201 sins of the LIberals? I think it’s time for an update !”
Here is a list with 199.

Regarding Cadman we are only hearing one side of this story. The Liberal Party also had meetings with Cadman…what did they offer him? Why has this not been questioned? After all Cadman voted with the Liberals. I think it is about time the Conservative Party went on the offensive and start asking questions what was offered to vote with the Liberals.

I*m so confused. Fishing expedition Karl Schreiber failed. Fishing expedition Cadman is underway and all this for free in our house of commons. What about the business of running Canada?
Let*s shift the freeloader Liberals to supreme court where they can be *billed for services*. = TG

Al W. at 1:05,don’t hold your breath. What the liberals do wrong is not newsworthy. Schrieber handed out 10 million dollars,we know 300k went to Mulroney. Where did the other 9.7 million go? Let’s see,Mulroney left, the liberals went into power, hmmmm. No,nothing to see there. In fact, the “ethics” committee will not allow questions about that.
Just finished watching chinless Newman in discussion with Travers and Lessard (CBC and the Red Star together to provide balance and objectivity for Canadians). Predictable stuff on the Cadman affair – both saying PMSH must come clean, and Travers attacked the PM for threatening legal action against Dion and co. Big surprise. On the so-called “NAFTAgate”, Travers accused Harper of “political dirty tricks” on the matter. Throw in Newman’s jabs and it was a mutual admiration society.
Agreed, they did not even consider the possibilty that the conservatives may be telling the truth. Also,on Naftagate, they decided that it was ‘our’ republican party helping their (U.S.) republican party. What a bunch of tripe.
I am listening and watching CBC with Peter Mansbridge. Just signing off though. Listening to the pundits on Ian Brodie and tying in the Prime Minister. Except for Andrew Coyne there appeared to be and this is my take on it, like a gathering tide.
I had thought better of Chantal Hebert and thought she saw through much political posturing. Not tonight- “very serious” said she. A woman academic- a Ms McKinnon ( I think) poured it on.
Old Peter boy seemed to be invigorated. It appears from most of them that the Dominion of Canada has actually swung an American election process. Through in that and maybe a hint we lose the ruling minority.
I wonder how the average voting American really views the Brodie statement? I can imagine button holing some worthy citizen across the river from us here. Asking them about the Brodie statement- I can venture a guess at their reply.
“Huh- whaddya say?
First it was Bush who stole the election, and now it’s the Canadians?
11pm. Sandy Renaldo handed off to Craig Oliver, this question to the effect, as to whether the past week has been damaging to the Harper government.
Craig Oliver all but buried the Conservatives. The Cadman affair and the Nafta affair and now the vote on a private members bill.
If they cannot control their spending, quoth absolutely unbiased journalist Craig….. well, one can get his drift.
Oh boy wait for the deluge.
