Not Waiting For The Asteroid

This leads overburdened reporters to fill the pages of their newspapers with “Flat Earth News”, a worthless commodity defined here as an unreliable statement or story “created by outsiders, usually for their own commercial or political benefit, injected via a wire agency into the arteries of the media through which it then circulates around the whole body of global communication”.

  1. A truism . .
** Second, Davies ignores much that is brave and honest about the British press. Summarising his case he quotes the fictional Kent Brockman, TV newsreader in The Simpsons, saying: * Journalists used to question the reason for war and expose abuse of power. Now, like toothless babies they suckle on the sugary teat of misinformation and poop into the diaper we used to call the six o’clock news. **

And this in spades for most Left Bent Canadian media = TG

  2. All journalistic credibility when down the pipes when CTV Calgary ran a survey based on the UN’s (now debunked) climate report.
They ran a survey saying, “now that global warming ia now proven beyond all doubt to be a fact, what should we do?” All of the responses were the typical socialist “turn us into serfs” type. They didn’t have the decency to have the last response as “it’s still a myth” or “do nothing”.
With this type of BS coming from the left wing MSM Canadian media how can you even trust they are telling the truth even if you happen to agree with their position?

  3. “Many of the [Media]sins he identifies are too easily detected by informed internet readerships. That which survives unchallenged in print is increasingly exposed to ruthless scrutiny on the web. Cynicism is not a new phenomenon in British journalism, but it has a new foe.” The Independant
I would suggest THAT is the real burr under Warren Kinsella’s saddle. In Canada, the Media has spun his party to power for half a century.

  4. Interesting article. Unfortunately the author tries to mitigate the damage by writing ” . . we still have the BBC.” However, as recent scandals within the BBC have amply demonstrated, the BBC is as much a part of the problem as any other outlet.

  5. “News” now appears to be a commodity like wheat or sugar. The wire services supply the basic ingredients to the short order cooks working for the local media outlets.
Check out the following news articles:

This Danish dish is prepared with the same basic ingredients with only slight changes to the order of preparation. One bold cook added a little dash of “Muslim” to the basic “youth” seasoning.

  6. The cowardly/craven MSM: “youth”. AssPressSpeak for Muslim criminals.
    …-
“Fifty people arrested as youth unrest continues across Denmark
    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS”

  7. the BBC, is the joke that admitted bias agin jews and kristians, all the while playing for the muzzies
when an outlet hangs themself with their own admissions, it’s just plain stupid for a fool like the author of the article to hold them up in higher regaurd

  8. If I read the article correctly, it would seem the Lefties at the Guardian have finally caught up with the rest of us.
Still, the author hasn’t really grasped the nettle, more brushed it. “Summarising his case he quotes the fictional Kent Brockman, TV newsreader in The Simpsons, saying: “Journalists used to question the reason for war and expose abuse of power.” Blah blah blah.
Seems like it isn’t the lack of honesty he’s complaining about, more that his personal bias doesn’t get top billing like it used to.
    Poor baby!

  9. THE FLAT EARTH SOCIETY a group thats as rediculoius as al gore and those global warming advocates
