Generally speaking I like Jews. I am definitely an advocate of Israel because they demonstrate that you can have a modern western democracy in the Middle East. The Canadian Jewish Congress, not so much. They have proven the adage “be careful what you ask for, you might get it.”
Free speech, as long as it respects copyright laws and stays inside the bounds of our existing libel and slander laws should be allowed to go to the point where a person or organization says “and therefore we should load up the (name minority here) and kill them” with the clear intent of doing bodily harm or damage to property. The true intent of doing bodily harm or damage to property would have to be determined by a court, using established rules of evidence, beyond a reasonable doubt with ties doing to the defendant. You know, like they would do in a country run by thinking adults.
The CJC thinking they were doing a “good thing” promoted the establishment of the ironically name HRCs which are a now a vehicle through which a group that does wish the worst for Jews is free to stifle free speech. Stifling free speech has always been the precursor for bad things for Jews. Our Jewish friends tell us to look at history and to “never forget”. Point taken. How about the CJC takes a look at the historical importance of free speech?

Having a party that gets out of hand, catching somebody stealing organization funds and the like is one thing. The UN hosting Durban II, with the premises that they are hosting it under is quite another.
Jason Kenney has it right and to even be associated with an organization like this, is a black mark on the countries that are involved. We, as a country, can no longer be associated with the UN in any way, shape or form.

Taking a stand isn’t getting “sucked in”. Agree that Israel has the right to exist – pure and simple.
Have you looked at a map of the ME and done any of your critical thinking about the size of the land now the home of the Jews in comparison to the size inhabited by Arabs/Muslims?

Thanks for the correction…conventional historians have it that the Protocols was a device created by the Romanovs to denounce upperclass jewery in Russia and Europe ( particularly France where Romanov financing had vast influence). While on exchange duty with the 1st Arm Div(British)in northeastern Germany, I was taken on a visit to Bergen-Belsen. 10,000 bodies here, 4000 bodies there, it was very creepy. My British escort had me notice that there was not one bird in the air, and not an animal to be seen(squirrels, etc,)

Commitment to me in this instance is to see that it doesn’t happen again. And that we as a country play a role in seeing that it doesn’t.

There were more than enough spectators in 1938. As a pragmatic 80-yr old, I’ve decided to stand beside those defending their tiny democratic country.

Serbia marks Holocaust Remembrance Day

The central commemoration was held today at the site of the former Nazi camp of Topovske Šupe in Belgrade.

I am saying that IF you use your critical thinking capacity, you will question the popular spin(sales point) that Israel is a “modern Democracy” …From my unbiased observations it appears to be at least a flawed democracy with a martial law society where a constitutional rights are not shared equally by all residents…and it has a long way to go to become a western constitutional liberal democracy…the very fact that politically propagated notions like “Israel is the epitome of the modern western democrcy” and that no ME nation has anything as civil” is flawed reasoning that abuts facts… and it reveals the need to manipulate public opinion….for what ever reason.
