  1. I suspect one reason the Comrade Reporter at the CBCpravda wasn’t named is because there has been no disciplinary action taken.
That reflects even worse on the CBCpravda than the original journalistic malfeasance, which could otherwise be blown off as the act of a loose cannon reporter.

  2. Just speculation here, but perhaps their hesitance is based on this being larger than one rogue reporter. She might start singing if singled out.

Sing, little bird, sing. What a delightful sound you make. Music to our ears.

  4. The longer they stonewall, the worse it will be in the end.
Its not the crime, its the cover-up.
What’s fun is the CBC thinks they can just do it, just ignore the public.
Time to start asking more questions . . .
“When did you find out and who are you covering for ??”
Should be a fun time 🙂

  5. $1 Billion in annual CBC funding works out to about $2.7M per day. So the government should withhold $2.7M in funding per day until the CBC provides that information. Divert the $2.7M to women’s shelters.

  6. If the tables were turned and this was done to the Liberals, there would be no waiting for an “internal investigation”.
There would be a full blown public inquiry into the lack of ethics at the CBC as well as the so called Ethics Committee itself.
What are the CPC waiting for?
Why are they pussy footing around on this serious breach of ethics?

  7. Good, now I can start buying the National Post again.
I stopped a few weeks ago because it was getting aggravating to read the entire front section and not see a hint of serious coverage of this story. It made me really wonder what their reasoning might be for avoiding it in substance.
(The story was mentioned cursorily in a couple of those top-o’-the-page blurbs that are usually used for amusing or piffle stories).
This editorial — wonder if it’s Libin, or Cosh?

  8. “Its not the crime, its the cover-up.”
    Fred,
The sad reality is that the other major news sources have no interest in publicising this scandal. No matter how accurate,an opinion piece is still just an opinion piece.Without nationwide exposure by our mass media, to the casual observer this story will just fade away like so many before it.
When the MSM widely presents this as NEWS….then I’ll get excited.
However,I will not be holding my breath because the media brethren in this country have a definite history of covering each other’s asses on the topic of political bias.
Kate….I thank you yet again for your diligence in exposing these dishonest, agendized *ssholes we call journalists.

  9. Sing, little bird, sing. Did I hear you sing “I’m Peter Mansbridge and you’re not”? What was that? “Keith (Me too, Me too) Boag”? Was that last mellow note warbling doing its best to sweeten the squawky sound “Julie van Medusa”? O, can that be the sorrowful strains of “This is Paul Hunter”.

  10. “When did you find out and who are you covering for ??”
There is a story here no doubt.
Did Szabo the committee chairman know about the CBC planted Pablo question earlier or in advance of the session?
Why was he so quick to rule the question was relevant or germane?
What credibility does this ethics committee have if the chairman was possibly colluding with the CBC reporter planted questions?
How can the CBC ever be trusted to report on any issue during an election in future considering the anti conservative bias that is the inherent culture of the beast?
Why is it only inyernet blogs are asking these questions and not our vaunted Canadian MSM?

  11. Szabo allowed Pablo’s question because it was in line with the Liberal agenda in the first place which was to go on a fishing trip.
Recall how astounded Mulroney as to hear such a line of questioning?
Hell, Pablo was probably in Kindergarten when all this happened, was he even in the country?
Remember folks, we can’t trust Liberals. Martin of the NDP was a total disgrace, he did himself a lot more harm, to say nothing of the new Dipper hero from Quebec, Mulcair. That is, if anyone can do more harm to themselves than being a Dipper in the first place.

  12. Jean Chretien once asked for the names of reporters asking questions. “Give me da names!”
Nothing came of that. Suspect the CBC to stonewall this too.

  13. Let’s not forget Robert Thibault’s complicity in this sordid affair, either. No MSM outlets have reported his ex parte meetings with KHS, kinda like the jury meeting with witnesses prior to a trial. Totally inappropriate and IMO, very unethical. Why is this not a news story, but planted qquestions is?

  14. When Haper gets his majority, I hope the first thing he does is cut CBC welfare. the money can be better spent on the Armed Forces. Also, he should call an inquiry in the farce called the ethics commitee

  15. “Mr. Rodriguez, a Montreal-area MP who seldom speaks English in the House, suddenly began questioning Mr. Mulroney with the precision and erudition of a trial lawyer.”
A second deception that was to go unreported.
Deception is the primary tool of the social engineer…. why are we surprised the LPC and its handmaiden in “molding” Canada’s perceptions (CBC) should be spontaneous deceivers and co-conspirators?

  16. The so called Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is relentless in investigating Brian Mulroney but not quite so dedicated when it comes to investigating itself.
Odd how a so called news service would be reluctant to report the news.
Is the CBC the propaganda arm of the Liberal party or is the Liberal Party the political arm of the CBC?
Which one is the monkey and which one is the organ grinder?

  17. As I mentioned over at Stephen Taylor’s Blog, who, along with Kate, is keeping this story alive, the office of the CBC Ombudsman, with its present incumbent Vince Carlin, is a huge problem–or should I say, is a huge part of the problem.
Vince Carlin is a former employee of the CBC.
He left the CBC to work in the Journalism Department at Ryerson.
Years later, the CBC INVITED him back to be their Ombudsman.
‘Seems to me this is like asking a former coach of a hockey team to referee games between that team and another one.
We have a conflict of interest situation here that you can drive a MACK Truck through and which makes a complete lie of the CBC’s boasted, so-called “transparent and reliable complaints process.” Their complaints process is actually a travesty. There’s nothing transparent or reliable about it.
I’ve waited months for responses from Mr. Carlin’s office and am usually assured that the CBC is a news agency of transparency and integrity. There’s never been an apology, that I’m aware of, when individuals or organizations are completely misrepresented by the CBC, just assurances that, basically, I shouldn’t worry because the CBC and its journalists are such paragons of journalistic virtue.
GR-8 article in the National Post. Maybe something will come of the appallingly unethical collusion between the corrupt CBC and the even more corrupt Librano$. Finally, a major newspaper is willing to give the story legs.
    One lives in hope.
BTW, clair voyant, in answer to your question about what is the CPC waiting for? They have a minority government. If they shut down the CBC or cut it way back, they’d be absolutely crucified by the MSM–as though they haven’t already had a crown of thorns smashed into their head and taken a whipping at the hands of Canada’s lib-left-in-the-Librano$’-pockets MSM.
Once the CPC has a majority…

  18. “Which one is the monkey and which one is the organ grinder?”
Well it was always my understanding it was Svend who was the organ grinder….but in this instance of left of center Federal parties conspiring with a public broadcaster to create a scandal against a government they ideologically unaligned. I would say it’s a case of the tail wagging the dog.
With the LPC in such a fiscal and leadership devoid state , the CBC has far more money and power to actuate liberal policy than the party itself.

  19. I’ve just sent the following to Mr. Carlin:
    “Dear Mr. Carlin
“The CBC reporter has just said, on the CBC Radio 2 Six O’clock News, in regard to the Toronto District School Board Falconer Inquiry, that the inquiry was instigated by the ‘stabbing’ of a 15 year old student at a school in the ‘Jane/Finch’ neighbourhood.
“Yes, the incident happened at C. W. Jefferys School in the Jane/Finch area. But, NO, the student, a black drug dealer, was not stabbed—in the arm?—but SHOT DEAD in the school.
“This issue has been under heavy public scrutiny for more than seven months. With nearly $3 million of taxpayer money available to the CBC on a daily basis, how could such a matter of FACT be so seriously misreported?
“I look forward to hearing from you.
    “Sincerely . . .
“P.S. I’m a very good editor and have some time on my hands: I’d be happy to vet your newscasts for accuracy.”
    Words almost fail me . . .

  20. Just exactly how far down the path of corruption have they gone? They’ve been there for quite a while and have been regarded as further and further left/corrupt since the days of Pearson.
What else have they done that they shouldn’t?
What have they not reported that they should?
They should be reporting that there is not a peep out of the Liberals about the abuse of privilege in the Ethics committee.
What do they have to say (the Liberals) about the chair and multiple members participating in an abuse and outright show of disrespect for the offices they hold?
This is outrageous. The head of the CBC should resign.

  21. “What do they have to say (the Liberals) about the chair and multiple members participating in an abuse and outright show of disrespect for the offices they hold?
This is outrageous. The head of the CBC should resign.”
As should Pablo for asking the question and for lying about (with TV cameras rolling), Szabo should resign as chair of the committee for knowingly allowing this line of questioning.
The journalists in this country should be ashamed of themselves for not taking the Liberals to task over this – it should at least get as much play as Belinda Stronach being called a “dog”.
Why is this being swept under the rug by Canada’s journalists? Couldn’t be bias, could it? Could it be that there have been other journalist-crafted questions asked by the Liberal party and they are attempting to make this whole finger pointing issue go away before the fingers start pointing at them?
    Makes ya think……

  22. -Mike Duffy said that most MSM won’t touch this because CBC “hires many of the country’s freelance journalists”
    – Although Cretin (To cut Martin’s legs) changed the rules and Harper followed suit and cut out big size/corporation donations for political parties and as a result the Libranos are in financial dissaray they still have 1.5 B$’s a year of tax dollars via CBC they can count on…The Conservatives have no media promoters except TV spots attacks paid by their own grass roots. CTV seems to be slowly going towards the centre, so we get more balance but by no means not a Conservative mouthpiece.
    – There is no way Harper is going to try and shutdown the CBC with a minority…I doubt with a majority that he would even consider it as it would be reported as an unemployment creator during a recession.
What might happen slowly, is more exposure of bias to wake up Couch potato, Simpsons watching Joe so that at least a major clean up occurs within the Mother corp.
Another idea I would like would be to break up the 1.5B$’s into 2 separate entities.
CBC would have to make due with 750 M and finance the rest if they desire and a new public broadcaster (Right leaning) like Foxnews (Call it Lynx news for Canada) that could take half the CBC’s current staff if need be.
At least Canadians would have a choice…BUT WAIT, THERE’S THE CRTC to contend with!…What a country!
Yep, Lynx news with Kate as it’s “Mansbridge”…SWEET!
Add Rex Murphy as the political commentator.
    ONE CAN ONLY DREAM!
    Grind a Grit

I realize the ramifications of shutting down the CBC and by “what are the CPC waiting for” I meant that having a minority government should not preclude the CPC opening an inquiry into the unethical behaviour of not only the CBC but also the Liberals involved in the laughably titled “Ethics Committee”.
Lord knows that the bleating liberals would have pulled the trigger on an inquiry right away, minority government or not.
