  1. Here we go again….
American-backed killer militias strut across Iraq
First they tired of Al-Qaeda’s beheadings, bombings and strange demands, such as a ban on salads containing (male) cucumbers and (female) tomatoes, and on ice cubes because the Prophet Muhammad never had them.
Then the militias threw in their lot with the Americans to get rid of Al-Qaeda, but without losing their animosity for the occupying forces that many of them had been fighting.
Now they are starting to think about what happens when the Americans leave and how they can counter Iranian-backed Shi’ite forces. Abu Omar, an intelligence officer with the Baghdad Brigade in Abu Ghraib, was candid.
“Of course the coming war is with the [Shi’ite] militias,” he said. “God willing, we will defeat them and get rid of them just as we did Al-Qaeda.”
    Al-Qaeda kingpin: I trained 9/11 hijackers
Since being convicted as an Al-Qaeda bomb plotter last year, Sakka has decided to reveal his alleged role in some of the key plots of recent years, providing a potential insight into the unanswered questions surrounding them. His story is also one of a globetrotting terrorist in an organisation that is truly multinational.
He is an enigma and, despite his involvement in three terrorist outrages involving British citizens, he is virtually unknown in this country.
By his own account he is a senior Al-Qaeda operative who was at the forefront of the insurgency in Iraq, took part in the beheading of Briton Kenneth Bigley and helped train the 9/11 bombers. He has been jailed in connection with the bombing of the British consulate in Istanbul.

  2. After over a decade of prosperity Australia is once again heading down the road of socialist bliss. How long will it take them to screw up a booming economy, scatter the blame and raise taxes to compensate for falling revenues?
Last night I asked my financial friend why the Aussie dollar was not performing as well as it should. His reply was that for the past six months the markets have been more concerned about adjusting their portfolios to accommodate a socialist victory. The dollars worth as it related to their investments was their concern not the dollar itself. We know it will trickle down it’s just a matter finding the best way to protect yourself. His big bitch was not rearranging things but knowing when the crunch comes the new group will do all the wrong things to try and correct the slide. He also stated it looks like it’s back to being lightly invested in your own country, doesn’t that say it all.

Pop Tarts: Natalie Portman Might Not Marry
LOS ANGELES — She’s breaking hearts as we speak … Natalie Portman says she might not be interested in getting married.
“I’m not convinced about marriage,” the beautiful “Star Wars” sensation recently told InStyle magazine. “Divorce is so easy, and that fact that gay people are not allowed to marry takes much of the meaning out of it. Committing yourself to one person is sacred.”

  4. The Gangs of Iraq Are Killing Each Other Off
What it has come down to is the gangs, militias and organizations that have been making a living planting roadside bombs and carrying out contract hits on American and Iraqi troops for the last three years, are being defeated by tribal and community groups fed up with the constant violence. The terrorist activity of the last three years was paid for by kidnapping, extortion, black market gasoline and so on, and wealthy Sunni Arabs eager to put the Baath party back into power. Religious leaders, who often took fees for allowing their mosques to be used as armories and safe houses, also preached against the heretical Shia, who now ruled the country. Now the pro-peace Sunni Arab clergy have displaced the pro-violence imams, and established their own “Council of Religious Scholars” to prove it.
Generally unnoticed over the last two years was a growing revolt within the Sunni Arab community….-

Regarding the allegations of increased natural disasters, I don’t believe it for a second.
It contradicts numerous reports that intense storms and such are NOT increasing in intensity or frequency.
Also, the interpretation of what is an extreme natural disaster is highly subjective, and most certainly skewed in the authors favor.

  6. Wlm Redux, there is also a Facebook site (linked at K O’Malley’s blog) for people to ‘donate’ to the legal defense fund for Thibeault,in his fight against Mulroney’s lawsuit..I’m sure a lot of you folk will rush right over and help out.Last I checked, they had a big balance of few hundred bucks. That’ll pay for some high price lawyer!maybe the ‘Elfin one’ can donate his time.I note he has been awfully quiet over this whole thing.Methinks he knows something?????

Dutch Woman Joins Guerrillas in Colombia
    By JOSHUA GOODMAN
    Associated Press Writer
    Posted: Today at 2:48 p.m.
BOGOTA, Colombia — The army stumbled on the handwritten diary during a raid on a guerrilla camp. It lay near the embers of a communal kitchen where fleeing rebels left their breakfast untouched.
“I’m tired, tired of the FARC, tired of the people, tired of communal living. Tired of never having anything for myself,” wrote the author, a 29-year-old Dutch woman.
Colombia’s government couldn’t have hoped for better propaganda against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC. It leaked excerpts from the diary found last June to the media, even making available an English translation of the Dutch entries.
The first known person from outside Latin America to join the region’s largest rebel army wasn’t just disillusioned. Like most FARC foot soldiers, Tanja Nijmeijer apparently wasn’t permitted to leave.
“This would be worth it if I knew I was fighting for something. But I don’t really believe that anymore,” she wrote on November 24, 2006, according to the excerpts released by the government.
What exactly impelled Nijmeijer, a child of Europe’s bourgeoisie, to take a journey from peace activist to guerrilla fighter with the nom-de-guerre “Eillen” remains largely a mystery – even to people who knew her well before she joined the FARC in early 2003.
More than a dozen friends, former colleagues and fellow peace activists interviewed by The Associated Press described a young woman deeply disturbed by social inequalities and guilt-ridden over her privileged life. Nijmeijer’s family refused to discuss her plight, saying doing so could endanger her life. …-

p.s., the taliban bombing and murdering over there is (drum roll) the SAME ONE dubya invited to texas when he was governor.
yep, that taliban, that dubya, and that texas.
and stop blaming the lieberals for gutting Canada’s remarkably effective military. they did the cutbacks but the s.o.b. right wing cons left it that way, promoting ‘tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts’ instead of rebuilding with new eqpt.
    so theyre BOTH guilty.
imagine the performance those fantastic soldiers could pull off if they had decent and sufficient eqpt seeing as they still have the ‘right stuff’ after being mothballed by ottawa for 2 godam generations.
shame on all your gross putrid hypocricy oh rightie.

  14. Poll over at the Globe and Mail: “Do you agree with PM Stephen Harper’s stand on green house gas emissions?”
    NO: 61% Yes: 39%

  15. Harper’s stand is the common sense one, shows how uncommon common sense is.
The Global Warming shtick is harped on constantly by the Leftist bent media and cash in on those who believe the headlines without questioning.
The result is we are dealing with the misinformed and the uninformed.
Why on earth could a clear thinking person want to send millions of our dollars to places like China so they can build more coal fired plants and pollute the earth even more?
We are not among the big polluters in the first place but according to Kyoto protocol we are supposed to pay the big polluters to pollute more.
Not hard to realize this was a scheme concocted by Lefty Twits like Mo Strong, who’s long past his best before. Chretien had no clue about it either and had no idea how to deal with it. Beyond buying air he had no plan while in office, ditto Martin.
