Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
One thing in this report startled me, although I am not surprised. It was the reference to the coordination betwen The UN convoys and hezbullah.
The UN has taken a very bitter turn for the worse. Having the affairs of our world orchestrated by the warped menality of a bunch of Banana Republics is sad indeed.
Time to stop the bus and get off!
Great “field” analysis of the type we can expect NOT to read from the MSM.
I am however, extremely interested in the picture of the billboard illustration reportedly in Northern Beirut, Lebanan. Since this is Hezbollah controlled territory it would need the authorization of Hezbollah and Syria.
It appears to be an ironical illustration of a western love child, completely absorbed in her I-pod, the title is Wage Peace and there appears to be a UN symbol behind her head creating a halo effect, before her is a sign similar to those seen in the UN to describe her country, in this case it describes her residence as La-La land, to complete the scene a flag very similar to Canada’s is displayed.
Is this an illustration of how Hizbollah regards the power of the UN? Quite honestly I don’t think we in the west could create a better comment piece on the effectiveness of the UN.

Ironically although the reportage is excellent, I am more interested in the picture of the billboard illustration reportedly in Northern Beirut, Lebanon. Since this is Hezbollah controlled territory it would need the authorization of Hezbollah and Syria.

To Cascadian: Those ads are by a company called Saatchi & Saatchi (an advertising company). Totten did an interview with one of the head honchos of this company based in Beirut – I can’t find the link right now – it is very good – it is available on Totten’s home page somewhere – and it was actually posted here on SDA a couple of month’s ago. These ads are meant to counteract Hizbollah’s hate filled ads and increase the resolve of the majority of people in Lebanon and help promote their democracy.
Concerning the Article:
I found this article very insightful and the person interviewed by Totten was very smart because he was trying to see the big picture – and that’s a tough thing to do nowadays.
Hizbollah lost this war because they no longer control the land south of the Litani. 10,000 Lebanese soldiers are now there along with UNIFIL – the democratic Lebanese Gov’t – this has never happened before – and we still have pretty good peace. This is why Hizbollah is staging these protests to bring down the gov’t. Hizbollah’s (and I mean Syria and Iran) biggest problem is having the Lebanese gov’t and people gain confidence in democracy and take sovereign control of their territory.
(I don’t think I’ll ever understand the childishness of this death and hate culture stuff. Building bunkers and firing rockets – what a waste – democracy is for grownups – you can’t wait forever for silly girly-boy clowns to grow up.)
Cascadian,
Beirut’s northern suburbs are not controlled by Hezbollah. They are “controlled,” if that is the word, by the Lebanese government.
Some of the southern suburbs are controlled by Hezbollah. “Control” is definitely the operative word in that context.
