Did Anyone Else Get One Of These?

Stephanie Matteis of CBC’s The National e-mailed James Bow;

Hi James,
I’m hoping you can help?
I’m looking for someone who was going to vote Conservative in the last election but changed their minds along the way because they were scared, freaked out or worried about the Conservatives, the Conservative agenda or its leader. So, instead, they voted Liberal. Now you’re facing the same dilemma this time. If this describes you AND you are willing to travel for a couple of days next month AND you are willing to appear on television then please get in touch immediately.
If this doesn’t describe you, please feel free to forward this email to someone you feel might fit this description.
Thanks.

I suppose it’s possible the invites to those who were “going to vote Liberal in the last election but changed their minds along the way because they were disgusted, insulted or angry about the Liberals, the Liberal lack of agenda or Mr Dithers” are still in the mail qeue…
h/t Bob Tarantino, who didn’t get one, either.

  1. And to think some people consider the CBC giving them straight the straight goods, real journalism. Scary isn’t it.

  2. Who is sending this to Peter Kent….one of the roles he was playing in this election was monitor of anti CPC media bias….

  3. Hmmm, nope just checked my emails I didn’t get one either, rats I guess that means no TV appearance

  4. Can the corrupt Liberals count on Canada’s servile mainstream media supporting them again in the upcoming election? The CBC story would suggest they can, unless of course the blogging community can pressure them to evade the stench of complicity in backing a corrupt and discredited Liberal party.

  5. And the slease begins. How far will the concept of honour fall this time. What sheep inhabit this land that will be led so easily.

  6. Well, here in Trinity-Spadina, I was told by a couple of Conservative supporters that they voted for Tony Ianno because they were afraid that Olivia Chow would win. And they were more afraid of what Olivia would do in Ottawa than they were of any ‘hidden’ agenda.

  7. I was wondering what kind of a loser would volunteer for a gig like this. A potential Conservative voter who got cold feet and voted socialist instead, eh? And is so proud of being “scared” and “freaked out” that they want to be brought to Toronto for a few days so they can brag about it on national TV?
A total loser. Or a leftie activist who can read a script and deliver lines on queue. Either one would do a pretty good job.

  8. How disgusting. The CBC stoops to new lows. They want to interview people who changed their votes
because Stephen Harper is scarry? This election is going to get nasty. Peter Kent should know about this and so should the Right Wing Media. Maybe if they exploit it, the CBC will back down,
and if not everyone knows yet, it would expose the
CBC for what it is. CBC: Trusted, Connected, liberal.

  9. This is very interesting. Regular listeners to the Rutherford show on QR-77 in Calgary (Corus Radio Network)who caught Dave’s show yesterday would have heard him talk about how the CBC has contacted him recently. Apparantly Pravda wants to bring an eastern Canadian liberal to Dave’s show and along with a camera crew, Dave will go one on one with this eastern liberal for some sort of “documentary”. I wonder if these two stories are connected. Methinks the CBC will bring some smooth talking metrosexual with a real hate-on for Alberta to square off with Rutherford whom I’m sure believes he’s some toothless, knuckle dragging hick.
    Stay tuned…..

  10. So let me get this straight. We now have the equivalent of the Gestapo(RCMP). The Reichstag (Liberal gov) and now the Pravda propaganda machine(CBC).
Did we lose a war I was unaware of?

  11. No Missing Link, we didn’t lose any war. I think we just gave up.
Canada has become a nation ruled by a bunch of Poutine eating surrender monkeys.

  12. Why don’t we all put in for it? We’ll show up on the programme and then suddenly change our minds right back to Tories on camera. It could be fun.

  13. I would volunteer.
Then when the moment I went live to air, I would blow the whistle on the whole thing, that or give CPAC an exclusive to “Media bias, the inside story”.
If there was anyone out there that actually got this opportunity, take it and do this.

  14. Every taxpayer in Canada is forced to contribute to that $1.4 billion (or more) that is given to the CBC. As these taxpayers who fund this corporation come in all political stripes or no political stripe at all, it behooves the CBC to not favour one political party over another. We know that they do not live up to this, they DO favour the Liberals and that is not right.
This e-mail by Stephanie Matteis should be spread far and wide by means of phone calls to talk shows and everyone else you know, e-mails to everyone you know and, for those who live at the centre of the universe (Toronto) and have time, should phone to make an appointment with the head of the CBC, can’t remember his name now, and complain about the CBC’s penchant for leaning to the left when they should have well balanced or neutral programming during elections so that people know the facts and can make up their own minds.
That might not make them change but it will certainly make Canadians more aware about the slant CBC takes and they will be more dubious about anything they hear or see from that corporation we all pay to keep operating.

  15. Wherein I Find Myself at the Centre of a Blogging Controversy

Or, rather, just off centre. Almost two months ago, I received an e-mail from Stephanie Matteis, a CBC reporter working on a story for the National about the upcoming election. She wanted to speak to people who had been thinking…
