So Close, And Yet So Pettigrew

An email read on John Gormley Live this morning from a Regina listener;

My wife almost brought down the federal goverment today: Environment Minister Pierre Pettigrew, deep in thought and apparently not noticing the “DON’T WALK sign at Broad and 12th, walked out into the traffic — and was almost squashed by our Plymouth Voyageur minivan.
My wife said he blushed deep red, leapt back to safety — and suddenly displayed extraordinary interest in reading the poster on the power pole beside the intersection.

Sounds vaguely like Liberal election strategy.

  1. How about that… a jaywalking Librano. Hey, that’d be a great nickname for Pierre: The Jaywalking Librano. Someone oughta write a song about him.
Hmm… his behavior as described makes one wonder if he had been smoking something that’s being discussed in the thread about that idiot Marc Emery.
Just what is it with these lefties?
Hmm… wouldn’t it be great if one of us were to see a Librano doing something stupid, and, happening to be holding a camera, were to capture the character and post it here? That’d be fun!

  2. Speaking of Liberals, this slides sideways a little, but I hope you find it interesting enough to be tolerant.
You know Bono and Sir Bob Geldoph gave Paul Martin a rough ride, but did you know that Eric Clapton came to Paul’s defense.
I thought Eric didn’t know the Libscammer’s background, so I sent this note to suggest he check out who he sides with.
No doubt I forgot to mention many things,
and I suspect you will let me know where I slipped up.
    Hi Eric,
Paul Martin and the Liberal Party of Canada have been guilty of misappropriating hundreds of Millions of Canada’s National Revenues.
Paul Martin’s heart may seem to be in the right place, but caution, look again.
The Gomery Inquiry has already unearthed enough evidence of wrong doing, complete with Liberal party officers full criminal confessions, enough to lay criminal charges against both Paul Martin and ex-prime minister Chretien.
The Liberal government under Paul Martin has recently survived non-confidence votes by the slimmest of margins. Vote buying and enticing members opposite with cabinet posts are the stealthy means used to survive the *white knuckles* situation.
These circumstances in Britain would have caused a prompt change of government.
Presently there is legislation afoot to swear 6,000 government employees to secrecy for, not 7, 14 or even 21 years, but for LIFE.
We, who have relied upon the freedom of information act, suspect the Gomery Report will be categorized in a way so as to place in the venue of one of those 14 Ministerial departments sworn to lifetime secrecy.
I leave it to you to judge Paul Martin’s government and it’s use of stealth for survival for yourself, however I have enjoyed Clapton music and played along with it, and I prefer that Eric Clapton not flounder on the rocks because he was not aware of the severe frauds of Paul Martin’s Liberal Party of Canada.
I believe in the value of social programs and did vote Liberal a few years ago. Since learning of all the frauds and Scams, [like 146 million in computers for Dept of National defense, never delivered], I have decided to side with the Conservative Party and policy based very much on integrity.

  3. I didn’t see Clapton as defending Martin, I saw him as attacking Bono and Geldof. Of course, I’ve been wrong before.

  4. Tony,
I read the article in the Post this morning. I did not get the impression that Clapton was supporting or stickup for PMPM. Rather, I figure that since Sir Geldof and Bono Christ singled out Paul Martin in particular (probably because he gave them time of day in the past and is also an easy target) he was simply responding to a question regarding their original quotes. Canadian MSM gets a hold of it and spins it.
I have to give Slowhand a little more credit than that.

  5. I agree with Happy et al – I took the overall flavor to be “get out of politics, you’re musicians” vs. “poor misunderstood Paul.”

  6. Well I am relieved. Thanks. Guess I’m a skimmer at times. Never hurts to touch bases with Brits from time to time..
Guess smoking buses and subways leaves little room for considering Canadian political drama.

  7. I remember once driving down Younge St one summer afternoon rush hour and who jumps out in from of my car but then Toronto Star Publisher John Honderich. If only I had had a bit of momentum….

  8. How ironic !
Pet a shrew is exhibiting oblivious lemming like suicidal tendencies that must be corrected or protected from themselves by right thinking people once again.
Is this the most metaphorical display of blind liberal thinking or what?
I just hope that a muddleheaded liberal stepping into dangerous traffic only to be saved from his own stupid primal urges by the oppositional clear thinking conservative who is clearly in the right is not the metaphor for our upcoming election.
    (Symbolically speaking)
What we need is a fat lazy overpaid unionized bus driver who always votes liberal to protect his trough feeding pension to be cruising by with the same degree of perception of his reality as Pedigree and …poetic justice.
May the socialist librano mind set of Canadians be so much splattered varmit offal after the SUV of clear thinking conservatism gets through it!

  9. (I noticed that too. As I don’t know who the author is, I couldn’t go back and check whether it’s the minister or the department that’s in error.)
