Check out the latest scandal brewing in Oztario. Does it, um, seem familiar?
TORONTO — An angry Premier Dalton McGuinty lashed out against the tactics of his political rivals Monday after a Conservative staffer took surreptitious photographs of a Liberal cabinet minister in an attempt to catch him in a conflict of interest.
The Opposition Conservatives captured Transport Minister Harinder Takhar on film visiting a company he owned but had placed in a blind trust, an apparent violation of the legislature’s conflict-of-interest rules.
McGuinty accused Conservative Leader John Tory of “stalking” Takhar.
“He has members of his staff go out with telephoto lenses (and) lie in wait for my ministers to take pictures of them and their activities,” the premier complained in the legislature.
He compared the photograph to the recent scandal in Ottawa involving secret tape recordings of conversations between federal Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh, Conservative MP Gurmant Grewal and Tim Murphy, Prime Minister Paul Martin’s chief of staff.
“I’d ask (Tory) as well to inform us whether or not he’s recording any conversations.”

Uh…. the tapes … uh ..uh .. must have been spliced, it’s all the conservatives fault. /sarc
Obviously not – Bush did it.
Yeah, I can already hear the CBC evening news headline.
“Independant analyst finds evidence of doctoring of photographs”
The “independant” analyst will no doubt be a member of the National Film Board, CBC, or some such other socialist and federally funded organization.
Don’t be surprised.
Well, on the bright side cappo Dalton’s brother was accepted as a “Made man” in the Librano family today. He gets a concilliari job from Big Paulie…wonder how long he can hold that flaming brandy in his hands at the cerimony.
It’s harder than most people think to doctor a photo. Trust me on this, I know Photoshop like it’s an extra limb.
They could get an outside analyst easily enough – hiring Dan Rather’s team for example.
Sean,
Healing tool is your friend… 😉
“Healing tool is your friend…”
Not if you don’t know how to use it. It shows up as a disruption in the noise signature from the camera’s sensor or in the grain pattern of the film.
Wouldn’t it great if the staff members with the cameras were completely wasting their time…
Are we not allowed to ask out PUBLIC officials to not mind being recorded in public. When parish was caught saying something she should not have said…At least she owned up to it and didn’t cry and whine about being taped without her knowledge.
Indeed, I even posted about that in my blog and just how hypocritical the Liberals are being compared to when they were in opposition.
“Are we not allowed to ask out PUBLIC officials to not mind being recorded in public.”
These would be the same public officials who are responsible for installing surveillance cameras everywhere?
There was a time when the media used to do some actual journalism, and would break such a story themselves. Now it seems they’ve become lapdogs because they want “access” to the government (something that used to be guaranteed by the fact that they’re public officials), and anyone who attacks the government is subject to attack.
Such is the nature of our socialist state.
Yes sean, the same ones that catch criminals in an act of crime… indesputably.
You’re absolutely correct Paul.
“Now it seems they’ve become lapdogs because they want “access” to the government…”
And government funding for Canadian content.
I think Dalton has had a good example to follow. I gotta laugh tho at Mr. I’m a Liar McGuinty’s outrage of others misdeeds. People in glass houses… well – you know what I mean.
I don’t know how Dalton can say anything these days with a straight face.
Sounds like a job for the Fiberal’s ‘Ethics Comissioner’. But wait- the Ethics Comissioner does not know what his job is. (He has to run it past Paulie first). Bwaaahahaha!
I thought Judy Sgro was the one in charge of stalking other politicians. Doesn’t anybody have a memory that lasts longer than one month?
Hey, maybe that’s a good thing. All of Stephen Harper’s foibles will be forgotten by the time the election comes around.
Harper’s foibles won’t be forgotten, the media will make sure of that.
You could have pictures of a Liberal beating a crippled kid and taking his lunch money… and then the Liberals would talk about how disgusting it was that someone would slander them by taking the picture.
On the other hand… the Libranos (Federal & Provincial) use this technique because it works.
That’s the sad part.
Yes, sad but true gwgm.
If God had been a Liberal there wouldn’t have been Ten Commandments, there would have been Ten Suggestions.

Liberals fume over ‘peeping Tory’
Toronto Attempts by Ontario Progressive Conservatives to derail a Liberal cabinet minister fuelled government accusations Monday that Transport Minister Harinder Takhar was being stalked by the Official Opposition…..
(PMPM you should be proud of boy Dalton)
No Way Out
“An old jokes goes, “first prize in the raffle is a round trip ticket to Cleveland; the second prize is two round trip tickets to Cleveland”. In some cases, more is not better. Publius Pundit has a roundup of the protests threatening to upend Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo after a leaked wiretap showed how she plotted electoral fraud against her defeated presidential rival, the now-deceased Fernando Poe Jr. But whereas in the old days nearly everyone would have welcomed the fall of a crook and fraudster, the prospect of the Nth “People’s Power” revolution has filled many Filipinos with dismay. Not out of love for Gloria Macapagal but out of fear for what may follow.
The essential problem facing the Philippines is that all its public institutions have been thoroughly corrupted. And as when all the bottles in the bar contain poison, there is little point in swapping one drink for another. Philippine newspaperman Max Soliven despairs of improvement in these terms. He says Gloria Macapagal …”

Philippines? Canada?
All institutions corrupted? Canada? Ontario?
Judiciary, RCMP, justice, immigration, Liberal party, & etc. all corrupted.
No Way Out?
Only for those who do not wish to find a way out.
Hey, I know how it’s familiar!
The Libs get caught engaged in illegal/immoral behaviour, and they spin it to blame the Conservatives for their tactics, even though… get this… they don’t actually deny they engaged in said behaviour!!
What do I win? 🙂
