Martin Admits Criminals Still In Government

“I didn’t have to call the commission. I could have done what most politicians would do – just try to avoid it,” he said. “I just feel so strongly about the integrity of the political process that I was prepared to run the risk of damaging my own political prospects.”
Martin, who asked for more time in office during an address to the nation Thursday night, said he received “tons” of advice telling him not to have the inquiry – to “hide this thing” and to “put it under the rug.”

A startling admission from a Prime Minister who has not yet announced any mass firings or ejections from his party or caucus.
So tell us, Mr. Prime Minister – Who are these people? What are their names?”

  1. Isn’t it a criminal offense to council someone to commit a criminal offense, such as obstructing justice?

  2. No, I’m expecting a few conservatives to figure out that they should be asking it, over and over and over….

  3. But if anybody is found to have known about this, then they should not be involved in government,” he told CTV’s Question Period.
Shouldn’t they be charged as well?

  4. Alfonso, Parrish, Boudria, Chretien, Kofi, Mo & Henne Strong, Lucky Luciano, Jimmy Hoffa, Guy Favreau,Herle, Goodale, ….????????? The postman, the barber, the hairdresser…????
Confession is good for the soul: Absolve. Go and sin no more.(but this is going to cost you.).

  5. This excerpt of a speech by Richard Nixon was taken from a comment post on Roger L. Simons blog. Substitute the words “Canada” for “America”, “Sponsorship Scandal” for “Watergate”, and “Justice Gomery” for “Attorney General, Elliot Richardson”, then simply cut and paste into the next official press release from Paul Martin.
“It is also essential that we not be so distracted by events such as this that we neglect the vital work before us, before this nation, before America, at a time of critical importance to America and the world.
Since March, when I first learned that the Watergate affair might in fact be far more serious than I had been led to believe, it has claimed far too much of my time and my attention. Whatever may now transpire in the case, whatever the actions of the grand jury, whatever the outcome of any eventual trials, I must now turn my full attention — and I shall do so — once again to the larger duties of this office. I owe it to this great office that I hold, and I owe it to you — to my country.
I know that as attorney general, Elliot Richardson will be both fair and he will be fearless in pursuing this case wherever it leads. I am confident that with him in charge, justice will be done.
There is vital work to be done toward our goal of a lasting structure of peace in the world — work that cannot wait, work that I must do.”

  6. A thought so horrifying it has to be shared … Sheila Copps – the only untainted Liberal – only because everyone knew she was too stupid to be in the loop!!!

  7. Don’t forget that Sheila Copps is already tainted with the Canadian Flag invoice kickback scheme. And being too stupid to be in the loop is already Prime Time Paul’s excuse.

  8. Don’t know if you caught PM Dithers with Rex on “Cross-Country Checkup” yesterday, but I was steamed about one caller (first or second, as I recall) who seemed more offended by Harper having referred to the government as being under “criminal investigation” when, according to Dithers, this “wasn’t true”.
Although I’m a big Rex fan, he missed the boat on this one by not following up with Dithers on why he didn’t consider the “criminal investigation” which is most definitely underway (the “publication ban” fiasco of a few weeks ago was an indirect consequence of it) to pertain to “the government”. Dither’s deception (presumably, he considers “his” government to somehow be substantially different than the former government that is the one under criminal investigation) is a lovely stick with which to beat him further.

  9. My respect for Rex dropped significantly yesterday, and I only caught about 45 minutes of it.

  10. Mike Duffy asked him to name the people who advised him to sweep it all under the rug. Martin stammerred and hedged and never really answered. Harper needs to nail him on this question every chance he gets. “Who are they? Are they still in your party? Are they still advising you? If they wanted to obstruct justice, why are they still there?”

  11. Raging Ranter:
Harper, Kenny, Goldring, Day hell anyone with vocal chords and not sitting on the liberal side of the house should be asking that question. Mind you I think Jack Layton should quit teasing PMPM and just bend over and show him the goatse he’s been aching for all spring. There an image for question period floor, yikes maybe some one will be inspired to get out photoshop.
