  1. Because disease is such a great respecter or rank and title.

If a quarantine doesn’t apply to all, it’s not a quarantine. And if there’s no reason for the quarantine, then there’s no reason for a lockdown.

      1. How many of these people are truck drivers crossing the border two or three times a week? Would it be “rational” to lock them down and further shut down the economy? Or is it more rational to weigh the effects on the economy and take the hit on COVID, whatever it is?

There has certainly been a lot of abuse of power ‘justified’ by this crisis, but this doesn’t sound like one of them to me. But to be honest, I think that the time when travel restrictions were helpful has come and gone. We can keep the barn door locked, but the horse is long gone. I think we have to enter a time of *carefully* living our lives as free men and women, yesterday. And by “carefully” I mean with regard to the health of others, if we don’t care about our own.

        1. Completely agree with Tim. Because the border had been essentially closed to non-essential travel, statistics showing that the majority who crossed into Canada were engaged in essential travel tend to confirm that nothing nefarious is going on.
Looking at this another way… Suppose that 95% had been ordered to quarantine… then there would be stronger grounds for criticism: Why were 95% of the border-crossers deemed non-essential at a time when the border was closed to non-essential travellers?
Also completely agree with Tim that there has been ample of abuse of power worthy of criticism. This just doesn’t seem to be an example.

      2. ScamDEMIC – casDEMIC – lieDEMIC – obfuscateDEMIC-wearmask-dontwearmask-wearmaskDEMIC – HYdroxyCQ works-it-doesnt-itdoes-itdoesnt-itdoesDEMIC.

Call it what you will, my BS meter has been stuck at its highest point for the longest period of my entire life.

I would say that “confidence” in Govt “authority” & “experts” is gone…forever. (if in fact there ever was any in the first place..this confirms it)

An overall Death rate of what…0.06%..?? And NOWHERE To find Actual #’s of deaths attributed 100% directly to CovidSARS2.

    1. “Two classic parodies, published in the British Medical Journal, showed that the above statements about parachutes are technically true. In 2003, a straight-faced literature search found no high quality, randomized, placebo-controlled trials of parachutes. The fact that people usually get squashed to smithereens when they hit the ground without a parachute was just epidemiological data. There’s no proof the parachute makes any difference. It could be due to confounding factors or bias. “

I have made this same argument to mask opponents who make the same argument that HCQ opponents make, except I used the example that we don’t have any such “high quality, randomized, placebo-controlled trials” that show that arsenic is deadly to humans. We only have observational studies, just like with masks.

I have seen threads where both sides, anti HCQ and anti mask used the exact same argument to support their position in the same thread while each calling the other stupid.

      1. Tim in vermont.
If most people who are habitually wearing masks do not catch covid, for parachutes do fail or get packed badly, then your argument might be valid.
But so far we are not seeing any such results.
By the way one or two unfortunates(or extremely fortunate) have survived falling from planes while being short the parachute.
Last blurb I saw on masks,85% of those diagnosed with Covid swore blind they were masking as per government specification.

As an industrial tradesman,I have worn many types of PPE for specified Airborne Toxins..
Now I find out my Government decrees a cloth face covering is all that we need..
Stupidity of this level enrages me.
A woven cloth mask is adequate against a toxin 1/10 000th of its weave?
I am curious,do you think the “Authorities” would follow their own advise while working with Hydrogen Sulphide?

        1. H2S, thanks. I was about to post on that subject when I read your comment. Not a one of these political dorks have any idea of what they purport to know better than you, on masks. Work in an H2S environment, especially a self contained one, at 1% or better. You won’t be wearing some “chic” mask to look cool to all your friends…..you’ll be dead. You’ll also pace yourself, work wise ’cause that tank on your backside is only good for 20 minutes, max with a planned route out to re-supply and safe breathing. Any scuba diver knows this, too. There are no old, bold scuba divers.
At this stage of COVIDITIS, we’re dealing with “kontol” issues with the “authorities”, not COVID. Real COVID died in May. There is no “second wave”.

          1. Yup. I know exactly what you’re referring to, having worked in gas plants myself many years ago.

Once inside an area where there might be H2S, always behave as if it has. In addition, always know where your partner is because you might have to get him or her out and always know where the exits are. Do nothing in a hurry unless it’s an absolute emergency.

Also, once H2S might have been released inside a building, never enter it until it’s been checked by an operator with a sniffer.

  2. They needed enough cases to justify the lockdown. This whole year has been lie, after lie, after lie by ALL governments, virtually world-wide. The Great Reset is underway. I thought we were a Socialist country, when in fact we live in a Communist country. Thanks Moronto and Morontreal.

    1. socialism, communism, two sides of the same coin, same thing. And no, we were not a socialist country at one time.

      1. It has to be an orchestrated destruction of our economy as our politicians can’t be this stupid.

Pumping billions of dollars into failing companies and industries and foreign charities with no returns on this investments. Where putting it into the citizens hands would have helped the most.
So now you have Provinces and Municipalities deeper in debt as well all yelling at the Fed’s for more funding.
And still nothing has changed as they hope everything will be like before this Pandemic.

        1. Jojodogfacedboy, YES.

Think about it. Politicians are mostly bums, dead-enders, ne’er do wells before they got their snouts in the trough.
Think about how little dough, in the grand scheme of things, is needed to buy even a national “leader”.

YES, it is definitely an “orchestrated destruction of our economy”.

      2. YES, vowg.

As the saying goes, the NDP are liberals in a hurry.
Communism is socialism in a hurry.

As the great Ludwig von Mises pointed out, socialism must turn into communism because the socialist idealists do not have the stomach to use the coercion necessary to bring its ideals into actual practice.

    1. ABSOLUTELY.

IDentical to the “Yellow Mask of David”
…and this time it’s not the Jews who are being pilloried by a State Ministry of Propaganda…its White folk who are being pilloried. WE who created the greatest Civilization this this planet has ever seen. are the target, Jews being “unclean subhumans” replaced with You are inherently RACIST etc.

      same old – same old

Many pages of Mein Kampf being reintroduced …especially here with the resurrection of the NSDAP (Liberal NAZI Party). Try to find a Classic book in any library today…?? Twatter/FB Censorship, Left wing insanity in our Education System, Rabid Public unionism….and finally an RFQ for internment Kampfs.

    2. chutzpahticular, B I N G O.

Speaking of which I recently took a ride in a mask-mandated bus in Vancouver after leaving my motorcycle for service. Here’s how I handled it. Wore it past the driver, took a seat, took it off. There are mostly zombies on the buses, no Karens

      YES, compliance, regimentation.
“Climate change” failed ‘cos people looked out their windows and didn’t see it. Masks “work” ‘cos people look out their windows and can’t see the microscooic virus, super-hyped by an orchestrated, concentrated fear campaign.

      1. Well, how considerate of you, I don’t think. I hope you got your motorcycle back, as I would rather not meet you on a bus. Some of the zombies on the bus are elders and vulnerable to all types of viruses and pneumonia, which could make them susceptible to getting COVID. Bet you did not get your flu shot either.

Just remember, there are silent polite Karens on that bus who think you are a thoughtless jerk, but will not call you out, being from the mind-your-own-business school. While I am suspicious of the efficacy of masks, I would like to stay clear of strangers in close quarters as much as possible. It is called minimizing risk at a time when it is unclear how to have a life and also enjoy my retirement years. Many Japanese have been wearing masks on Transit since I lived there 40 years ago.

I despise mandatory edicts as much as you do, and would seriously object to shutdowns, but go to a protest or write Bonny Henry instead of not wearing your mask on Transit. Would you also defy the rules at your grandparents’ nursing home? I think not.

        1. OWL, I have no symptons.
As a responsible citizen, I would stay home if I did as these cloth masks don’t work against the virus and are unhealthy.
If your news is all mainstream you would’t know this, so no offence taken.
Recall CDC and our own “health care” bureaucrats strongly recommended against it. No research since then nullifies that good advice.

          1. Neither do I. My news is NOT MSM, as I read SDA every morning and many other sites. I am also a well-trained scientist. So I know, but I am old, so am trying to be be careful. I am very aware that homemade cloth masks are likely useless, but I wear the good ones. Have you missed the facts that COVID can be transmitted without symptoms?

Be thoughtful of your stranger neighbours in public in Vancouver. That is all that I ask. Besides taking Transit when I need to, I love to dine out. That is a risk for me too, but I need a LIFE.

          2. OWL,

Don’t be put off by thinking of me as a “biker”.
I always correct people who refer to me as one.
            I’m a gentleman motorcyclist, I reply.
I am an Old White Gentleman. 71.5 yrs.
I believe that some of the early Covid-19 fraudsters, including Mafia Don Tony Fauci, believed that aysymptomatic carriers can pass on the virus.
I believe that bit of purely speculative nonsense was tossed early in the scamdemic.
If you are worried about meeting asymtomatic MND on a bus, you shouldn’t. You’re wearing a mask! Relax. I take the risk in not wearing one.

These cloth surgeon masks were meant to protect patients’ open wounds from bodily fluids.

          3. MND, I never stereotyped you as a “biker”. My former great neighbourbors, also elders, enjoyed biking with their friends. I just said I hope you are off public transit if you want to play “rebel”. I also assumed that you were an elder as well.

We simply have different opinions on the very small inconvenience of wearing a mask on public transit or to malls etc., as it might be a good idea. I agree that many false positives are identified by these fallible tests, and positive tests for people with no symptoms may be bull. In the meantime, unlike you and other OWL, I prefer to be a bit careful so that I can take calculated risks to enjoy a dinner out and keep favourite restaurants afloat, see my hairdresser, get pedicures, shop with no shutdowns and hug my boyfriend and grandchildren. My son was sick, diagnosed with Covid and then negative after two days. I hugged him a few days after. No symptoms for me after 2 weeks.

As Kate always say here on this site, Science is never settled. With the paucity of information worldwide, we just have to make reasonable personal choices and get governments out of this business. One way to do this is just to wear a flicking, likely useless, mask.

Of course, nursing homes have to allow relatives to visit, Other OWL. The rules were and are draconian.

        2. The rules at the nursing homes need to change.

OWL…why the paranoia? Recovery rate from wuhan flu is better than recovery from a car crash.

        3. If your interlocutor is neither coughing nor sneezing his miracle craft project – a cloth mask – is pure sympathetic magic. It looks like a properly fitted N-95 mask, so it must do the same things! I am willing to do a fair amount of dumb show mummery to assuage scientifically illiterate supertitious people’s feelings (because in this season of loss, why add to the hurt) but I draw the line at pretending their nonsense is real.

The dangerous people are the superstitious ignoramouses who wear these fool contrivances into nursing homes, convinced that the magic works.

  3. If one were to prove all the cases in Canada are only from those exempted from quarantine, only 7% were infected.
Yet, Dear Leader continues to keep the border closed.

    1. The graph at the top of this page shows a large increase in daily infection rates in Canada in the fall. The spring numbers peaked at 2760 new cases in a day versus 4042 in a day so far this fall, yet the death rate peaked at 222 in the spring versus 26 so far in the fall. Crude math suggests the deaths per infection rate dropped from 8.0% to 0.6%. Similarly in the USA, their 7.5% death rate has dropped to 1.0%. Part of the difference is better treatments but also better testing.

      https://www.google.com/search?q=covid+deaths+worldwide&oq=covid+deaths+&aqs=chrome.3.69i57j0i433i457j0i433l2j0i131i433j0i433j0j0i433.14951j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

      1. Better has nothing to do with anything.
High mortality rates were primarily among the old, the older you are the higher the risk, and those with underlying conditions.
New cases are now spread among the young, with very few deaths occurring. The final numbers, once infection is permitted, will be something akin to a moderately bad flu season.
Governments have learned that it’s easier to tell a big lie, than a bunch of small ones.

        1. Wrong goa…..doctors now know how to treat. That is the important fact that politicians choose to ignore.

  4. A member of my extended family contracted the virus last Spring, and eventually recovered. Recently, she travelled from Canada to the US as an “essential”. It was essential that she accompany her daughter to get the poor child established in a College near a resort community. The daughter is 25 years old.
Those are the facts of the matter.

  5. Liberals are just doing what they do best and like a duck to water they’re in their natural element but remember this, save your hate for those brave knights of the much vaunted fourth estate who lick their boots.

    1. Yes, and rely on public transit, while waiting for so-called “elective” surgery in jail-at-home.

      1. Edmonton’s mayor, Donnie Bike Lane, decreed that transit use was down because people were “afraid”, therefore we now have to wear masks in order that Edmonton Transit can start making money.

No, Donnie, you dumb-dumb. Transit use was down because socialist smegheads like you and darling Prinz Dummkopf shut down the economy over a hoax.

Thanks to you meatheads, a medical test that was scheduled for the late spring had to be postponed for two months and, worse, I had to wait an extra week for the results. The results were in my favour, but the anxiety I experienced was completely unnecessary.

Oh, I forgot. I’m a member of the Great Unwashed, a prole, a peasant, a deplorable, so I guess my concerns don’t matter to either of you, do they? Yeah, that’s right, it’s not your job to make our lives easier, is it?

On both of you I freely micturate.

        1. Glad you’re okay BA–
If it’s any consolation the other provinces in Canada have huge problems also. MDs seem to like giving out prescriptions. Referrals to specialists are hard to get and take a long time if one gets referred. CV -19 put a lot of people in delay mode. It’s just the opposite with dental care. They’re so quick to take your money, even during this current “crisis.”

          1. Glad you’re okay BA–

            Thanks.

Unfortunately, getting a proper physician in Edmonton, let alone a specialist, can be a torturous procedure. It’s more a case of knowing a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy in order to be considered.

Still, what do the snooty elitists care what happens to us? They want fewer of us, don’t they?

          2. Stay strong, keep faith, we’ve some terrific professionals in Alberta. Sending you sincere wishes for good health.

  6. Canada Border Agent [in full burka]: “skin colour?”
    Gimmegrant: “Brown”
CBA: “here’s a cheque for $10,000. Have a nice day. Make sure to rape a white female on the way out.”
    CBA: “skin colour?”
    Normie: “white”
CBA: “CODE RED I REPEAT CODE RED! DOWN ON THE GROUND SCUMBAG!”

  7. Fact is the Chinese sent the flu here to do exactly what it is doing. Get rid of an impediment to their ambitions in Asia. Hong Kong is gone. Taiwan is next and if Joe Biden gets elected their path will be clear. If I were an Australian or New Zealander I’d be wondering if all those treaty commitments will be kept. My guess? No.

      1. And the professional rent-a-protesters they hired didn’t shut down enough railways and highways.

  8. If the Chinese succeed in their plan to overthrow and assassinate President Trump, you won’t hear another word about Wuhan flu. Simple as that.

Sorry about your home and your business. It was all Trump’s fault. Now go get a job at an Amazon warehouse.

  9. Closing the border to the US is the only way to save your grandmother from getting the haircut that could kill her.

Or so I am made to believe.

Anyone who still believes “experts” at this point is a walking Darwin Award.

  10. It’s clear to me now that this covid nonsense is split along political lines…again. And the same demographic who claim to know what’s best for me are the same numbnuts who require the term “Coyote” explained to them.

  11. Well then, it’s time then for a “Kan-eh-jians are stupid”. I’m going for a nap.

  12. The point is, keeping the border closed is a political act disguised as a health and safety one.
I think we know which side The Turd is on.

Expect it to reopen again after the US election.

    1. Actually, the US border is not closed really. The Americans welcome us by air or rail. The agreement only applies to land borders. On return, one does have to quarantine for 14 days.

    2. Expect it to reopen again after the US election.

Only after Biden wins and Kammy has him quickly bunged into a seniors home somewhere obscure.

  13. The powers that be have decided it is safer for we Snowbird seniors to take a flight involving 3 airports and 8 hours in 2 airplanes full of strangers than it is for us to drive in our own car, carefully choosing who we interact with. This is mostly Trudeau’s idea.

  14. Actually, I think the US border is not really closed to Canadians. The Americans welcome us by air or rail. The agreement only applies to land borders. On return to Canada, one does have to quarantine for 14 days, though.

  15. “3.5 million people who arrived in Canada since March exempted from quarantine requirement”

Proving once again that this is all about control.

    Conjobvid 19.
