I just arrived home from Dallas an hour or so ago. My day began at 2:30 am yesterday, and while I was back in Minot well before noon – a dog that was supposed to meet me there didn’t arrive for another 7 hours. I’ve only had about 6 hours sleep in the past 48.
At any rate, you’ll have to entertain yourselves with this thread for a while. I have a lot to get caught up on around here – after a nap.

It’s hot here in Dallas – especially considering that the afternoon I left Saskatoon, the good weather news was that the frost warming had been lifted. It’s a bit of a shock to the system.
(I’m here teaching some a group of my Schnauzer competitors all the tips they need to beat me. Or at least, that’s what I want them to think… bwwwwaaahaaaa…)
An open thread for your own tips. I’ll be checking in when I can, but if your comments get trapped in the filter, it’s probably best to reconsider some of the words you’ve selected or cut down on the links and resubmit. There’s no guarantee anyone will check the junk drawer.

Truncating The News On Behalf Of Canadians

Having attended the original press conference in person, Mark Collins reviews media coverage of the Senlis Council report that received widespread attention this week.
He notes these quotes in a CP report;

“Despite my concerns about our development aid and counter-narcotics policy, I firmly believe Canada should not leave and we should not fix a date on when we should go,” said MacDonald, who echoed a line Harper often uses: “We must stay until we complete the job we started.”
What happens in Afghanistan in the next months will have an impact on the security of Canadians for generations to come, she said.
“What need [sic] is not a fixed date to leave. What we need is a fixed list of what we have to achieve before we leave.”

One would think this would have been a primary message for media to note and convey, in light of the political debate raging. The Canadian Press chose to bury this at the bottom of their report – but, at least the statements were recorded.
No such nuance at the CBC, CTV, London Free Press, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette (and who knows how many others). MacDonald’s emphasis on the importance of completing the mission goes simply unmentioned.

Air Canada – no longer content with stranding passengers in their ongoing battle to curb C02! Update: another poll goes horribly wrong…
The CBC is caught in a fib over their airing of the Altar Boy Gang pilot.
It’s not often an audience gets the chance to vote the loser back to a kidney dialysis.
And in late breaking tempest-in-a-blogpot news – David Maclean stands accused of employing pseudonyms to “harrass” left-wing blogs with such “hateful” comments as “Why didn’t they put out an RFP for this?, “I don’t hate the media.” and “change the clocks for more light at night”.
Well, I’ve seen enough – Go David!

Busy day here, so add to the list in the comments.

Heading out for the weekend. I’ve a few posts written and scheduled to appear automatically, so unless our usual contingent of guest bloggers have material they want to share, things will be slowing down for a few days.
