  1. Thank God someone is using the phrase “political cronyism” rather than the deceitful, bias, term “crony capitalism”

  2. Cronyism!
Surely not! The NDP aren’t like the Tories and the Libs at all. They’re the people’s party!
    Aren’t they?

  3. The party of some are more equal than others just doing its normal socialist shtick. Kind of like the state collective farm putting the small farmer out of business. Easy to do when you write the laws to suit your friends. It is called payback.

  4. Honestly, this smells more like a stalking horse than anything else. If the Teamsters can set up an Uber competitor that’s unionized, what do you want to bet they’ll use that as leverage to get the legislature to force Uber to unionize its drivers?
I don’t think the NDP cares about the taxi industry. Union, OTOH…

  5. In the Calgary-Greenway by-election yesterday the Bolsheviks went from a close second last time to 4th place. Only a bit over 3 years and Red Rachel is gone. I would appreciate if Turdeau disallows any Alberta legislation that would cripple the Alberta economy in the long term.

  6. I’m sorry … but WHY isn’t this being handled by the FREE Market ? Why not let the USERS, the CONSUMERS, decide ? Crony Socialism is disgusting.

  7. …because when TAPPCAR is tapped out there needs to be a deep pocket for the inevitable bail out. Crony socialism is disgusting but it sure pays well.

  8. I HIGHLY recommend a good old fashioned … BOYCOTT
eff-em ! and the Tapp-car they rode in on

  9. The NDP is living out Animal Farm. They got elected with “All animals are equal” and now say “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” They began with “Four legs good, two legs bad” and after getting up on their hind legs and partaking of the best parts of government largesse, they preen about saying: “Four legs good, two legs better!”

  10. The slime just drips off Shane, he learned well from the spoiled bitch how to lose and notley lose, don’t get to close or you will need a shower and fumigation from what I’ve seen.

  11. While it’s true that the NDP will be tossed out on its ear in the 2019 provincial election, the party knows that and will spend the next 3 years inflicting as much damage on Alberta as it can.
Why not? It has nothing to lose.

  12. In January the government seconded the Superintendent of Insurance away on special assignment. No explanation has ever been offered by Notley as to what exactly it is the Sups up to. Is it something to do with Uber? If it takes the Superintendent until July 1 to figure out the insurance ramifications of Uber, you got the wrong guy on the job!
Maybe Notley is going to introduce government auto insurance in Alberta. She hasn’t said a peep about it but government auto is an NDP staple. Bob Rea tried to bring it into Ontario and couldn’t pull it off but Notley might just give it a go. Stay tuned.

  13. Speaking to an NDP insider, who’s married to one of my co-workers, the way Uber’s corporate structure was set up … they found a way to avoid provincial taxes and therefore the Alberta government would have to get that loss from other sources.
I’m assuming TappCar would be a better corporate citizen.

  14. Let us get this right. The NDP introduce legislation to raise the price of a cab ride to help the Unions, and the cronies who support their party, yet they advertise themselves as the party for ”the little guy.”
So why do we need the NDP?? This is the same scenario as when the Saskatchewan NDP were trying to unionize Wal–Mart. Who shops at Wal-Mart if not the little guy??
