  1. The stupid thing is, if you took another full length shotgun with the same type of action and cut it down to resemble that one, you’d have a prohibited firearm, and that’s not prohibited as in they’re going to take it away from you with a stern lecture, but prohibited as in you’re going to poundin-in-the-ass prison.

    1. Agree 100%.

I wonder how many criminals have actually used single or double barrelled sawed off shotguns in crimes outside of the movies?

I suppose if a long barrelled shotgun is all they can get their hands on (either steal or black-market) along with a hacksaw and file, they probably would.

Two blasts from a sawed off shotgun would go over badly for thieves targeting a place packed with Concealed Carry holders with full capacity Glocks on their persons.

      1. I was on a jury (sent the criminal away for a long time) of a man who pulled a sawed off shotgun on a CCCo. Sheriff who had chased the perp into a culdesac. The perp got out of his pickup truck, pulling his shotgun from under the driver’s seat in one fluid move while pulling the trigger. He missed … and then bull rushed the Sheriff knocking him to the ground. A hairy fight ensued from there …

        1. What did the perp do to be chased by the Sherrif? If it was something like misgendering someone, I’d say he was within his rights to shoot at armed people trying to get him. On the other hand, if he was say, robbing a liquor store, well then, that changes everything, and he should go down hard.

          1. Meth.

The perp was a white supremacist, who got into a serious fight while sitting in jail. He showed up to court one morning all beat up.

Ironically, our first straw vote was 11-1 to throw the book at him (Max. charges). The one “innocent” vote came from a young black girl who said she never believes the police side of the story … because they always be hasslin her cousins. Only after the trial did the DA tell us he was a longtime skinhead, white supremacist. So the black girl was gonna let him go free. Stupidity personified. And this was in the 1980’s … long before BLM

  2. “Who Wants To Go Shotgun Shopping?”

Pretty much a limited usage tool, regardless it proves the idiots who plan Canadian disarmament are ideological fools or tyrants with a single minded agenda.

More importantly Canadians who value freedom need to address the lack of self defence protections for themselves and their families. Once the freedom to properly protect yourself i.e Stand Your Ground & Castle Laws apply, the ridiculous firearms laws will will begin to correct itself.

  3. Grizzly Arms made an 8″ barrelled short stroke 12ga pump fed from a box mag. Hard to find now but legal in canada. Or was last I checked. Stupid loud and I suspect the muzzle velocity suffered greatly.

    1. Could be handy as a home defender, or a car defender, but of course, self-defense is evil and mean, just ask our betters here in the Great White Worker’s Paradise.

      1. Like I said, I’d take a pump action. As far as home defense goes, there’s something about the sound of a 12 gauge being racked. Anyone who doesn’t run the other way when he hears that needs shooting. Besides, even at close range, aiming is still important

        1. Why do you rack the slide? Shell should be in chamber and the safety on… of course not in Bananada … that would be illegal here.

Still my choice of home defense long gun is perhaps unorthodox… but I would be very comfortable with it… a .357 magnum lever action carbine with a red dot… sacrilegious, unorthodox but I will take it over any shotgun. Of course hypothetically speaking, my real .357 rifle is locked and unloaded in the safe…

          1. To scare the crap out of whomever I might need to shoot if he doesn’t get the **** out of here. Unlike some, I’m not fantasizing about actually shooting someone and hope I never get into the situation. If I do, racking the 870 is fair warning.

          2. Nobody is fantasizing about shooting someone. That is a strawman. Having your gun loaded but not chambered is a odd voluntary decision unless dictated by law.

  4. I thought it interesting that he did not even mention anything aside from sporting purposes. This is the level of pussification in Canada now. If lawyer guy was honest he’d say that you can’t use that firearm for its intended purpose, which is quite clearly self/home defense.

Because it will be cheaper and better if you let home invaders steal everything you have and then burn your house down than it will be to defend it and yourself with that firearm. There’s a new case every year of a person legitimately defending himself or herself with a firearm and they get dragged through the freak show. Every single time. Last one I know of is some girl got a lucky hit with a jackknife on the femoral artery of the man who was beating and chopping her to death. Stabbed him with his own knife I believe. She managed to escape him and crawled through the halls of the building begging people to save her. Crawled because she couldn’t walk, that’s how bad he beat her. Murder charges, served on her in her hospital bed. Dropped quite a long time later after she’d been “convalescing” in jail, due to the appallingly obvious, inescapable nature of the self defense evidence.

I expect that if lawyer guy here even says the word “defense” in a sentence there is a huge bureaucratic machine waiting to chew him up and spit him out. That’s why he doesn’t say it.

Everybody remember that, okay? That’s as broad a hint as you’ll ever get.

    1. He’s working within the limits of his profession, and his medium. I like the way he calls gun control “racist.” Yeah, he’s a bit of a pussywillow, suffers from cognitive dissonance, but, I see him moving more and more to the right, like Viva Frei did: The more they research material for their channel, the more they discover what the left does with power, the more they shift to the right.
Any man who is honest, no matter how dim-witted, will, if they look hard enough, see the pure evil that is the left. Researching material for a you-tube channel can make people look hard enough. I think Mr. Runkle is exceedingly honest, for a lawyer.

  5. handy in a hallway where you cant swing it . i still have an old fish bonker beside the front door, lucky at my age i still have strong wrists. need something with mass at the top and i quick flick gets you some belt,

the other door has a sawed off yet punked lacrosse stick shaft . again alot of momemtum in a punked stick .

for those that might already be in a machete in the bedroom closet and another in with the vacuum but have to be unsheathed

    1. You are a kind man. I have Kukri-style short machete near the door, and a sword near my bed.
I envy the Americans, who can legally sleep with a loaded handgun on their bedside table.

      1. My preferred combo would be African walking stick by the door, Kopis machette (modelled after a Spartan sword) in the bedroom.

        1. Your kindness to door-knockers at your front door is noted, fellow civilized man. Now you just need to show the same kindness to bicycle riders. 😉

          1. 🙂
You win the “only man to argue with me” prize.
American Thinker used to have lots of it, until Trump, when they purged us.
            So, gun control it is…topically.
I think SMGs should be sold at every hardware store. You?

          2. Absolutely, anything short of crew served weapons, flamethrowers, etc, i.e. anything classified as arms should be readily available, over the counter to adults with no criminal record (and with criminal record if it includes only bullshit charges like assaulting a cop or resting arrest).

          3. Why do you think crew-served weapons should be regulated?
Should I not have a technical?

          4. That’s a grey area for me. I could be convinced either way… but then the next thing is RPGs, Flame throwers, mortars, all fair game? How about MBTs? That too? Do you believe that ICBMs should be regulated?

  6. Man!

I just can’t figure out why this Country is in such sad shape with so many tough guys around.

    1. Yes, we know you are limited and not very good at that “figuring out” thing.

In reality* electorate replacement is slowly killing gun culture in Canada. Every year proportionally less and less people identify in any way with gun culture and thus it is easier and easier for Libranos to destroy it.

*another concept that you struggle with.

Now go on and say something snarky about Pinky No Tool, and don’t try to venture pass your comfort zone.

  7. I once recall, back in the early 80’s, an article noted in the local newspaper at Fenelon Falls, Ont., which described a man entering a local bank “carrying a sod-off shotgun”. I always thought that said it very well.
