Lawrence Fox was much more polite with them than I would have been. I would have been saying “FO and D”. The police officer actually said “We have NO evidence, just the hearsay of some Gladys Kravitz”

Cop’s body language suggests that he was embarrassed. Looked like a seven year old forced to apologize to the neighbour for breaking a window.

He was definitely ill-at-ease, but I couldn’t be sure if it was because he didn’t want to be recorded and could say so, or, as you posit, he knew this was an asinine call that he had to make.

A few minutes ago my wife was praising Fox for how polite he was to the Praetorian guardsmen who knocked on his door. I told her that this is why conservatives lose and lose and lose forever more.
I would at least have asked them if their parents were still alive and if so asked if they are disappointed with how they turned out after such early promise. That’s meter maid level policing eh?
