    I suggest, charging Minnesota’s social-services sector managers with aiding and abetting a terrorist organization; that would incentivize adherence to a professional standard of care when dispensing taxpayer funds.

  4. I guess my definition of assimilation is wildly different than Minnesota’s definition. Grabbing all the welfare benefits both legally and illegally as possible is what passes for “assimilation”? We live in the land of plenty! Grab everything you can! Isn’t that what everyone does who invites you into their living room? Expects that you will steal the silverware, and eat all the appetizers?

    About a week after this came out on all of our local news, with all the various politicians promising to get to the bottom of it, the radical Somali groups in town put on a loud public demonstration demanding that Minnesota INCREASE the funding for Somali kids’ daycare.

    The local media reported on this favorably. The local politicians were falling all over themselves to announce their support. I’m fairly sure it’ll happen.

    Minnesota is so screwed.

  8. When I was a young pup, third world immigrants all seemed to have university degrees and were on average our equals or betters. In that case, diversity may very well have been our strength. Today we are bringing in illiterate masses, who hate us, have no desire to work, and measure their success by gaming the system. We aren’t going to bring up the people from 3rd world shitholes. We are simply going to bring ourselves down.

    1. Absolutely, but don’t dare mention it. Kellie Leitch was absolutely correct to bring up Canadian values as a public issue, and she did so in a very careful way — interviews, she thought new immigrants should be interviewed. The snotty political class immediately branded her a bigot. Canadian culture and values make our society strong, and they are systematically being eroded, but don’t dare mention it.

      1. It’s not the government’s job to impose “Canadian Values”-whatever those are-on people, and these interviews would be a totally pointless waste of time and money.

        1. Perhaps not “impose”, but it certainly is government’s job to protect Canadian values and culture. Is the government not already imposing its values by promoting feminism and diversity? How about bilingualism? That’s a value and it is promoted by government in many places . . .enforced in some places. One-on-one interviews were once done. I think they could be useful again. You might at least be able to weed out a few individuals who are not interested in integrating and who are hostile to our country. If the government does not stand up for Canadian values (and I would say some aspects of our Western culture are important to stand up for and promote), then the fabric of the country eventually disintegrates. That seems to be happening in some places . . .like Sweden and looks like Minnesota.

      There’s no evidence of this. People like you have been shrieking about immigrants ruining your country for literally centuries and you’ve been wrong for centuries. Immigration decreases welfarism and crime.

      1. Yes, there is, but it is kept under wraps. It take much longer for new immigrants to integrate and move out of poverty than it did 20 years ago. Most people are not knee-jerk anti-immigrant, and yes we have seen a lot of this type of bigotry in the past. The problem now is that they types of immigrants who are coming in are not people who have grown up with any experience in Western values. Their life experience will make it difficult to integrate. Their lack of education makes it difficult to find jobs, and left in poverty they are ripe picking for terrorism and gangs. I don’t blame the immigrants, many of whom come from very difficult circumstances, but governments need to recognize the importance of selecting those who are most likely to successfully integrate and also taking in only enough to ensure that they have adequate support to land on their feet over a period of ten years or so. The Liberals just take their orders from the UN and do not consider impact on communities when bringing people to Canada.

      Exactly. When we came over from Europe in the mid-1950s, we expected, and were expected, to earn our keep. My parents had something to contribute because they were journeymen in their respective trades.

      My father worked as a machinist for more than 50 years because he was good at what he did, becoming a respected member of the community because of it.

    1. By waste I mean fraud. Seriously the scale of fraud in Medicare/aid is incredible. It’s like 5% of all payments are fraudulent.

  12. Not all well educated immigrants are success stories in their adopted countries. You might recall the story of one showing up to work with a Smith and Wesson revolver, a Meb pistol and a Bersa pistol. This emigre, a Belarusian professor, who wrote: “Contact and Crack Problems in Linear Theory of Elasticity”, killed 4 engineering professors at Concordia University in Montreal because he didn’t make tenure. There were accusations of corruption as well, made by the professor to the people at the university.

    This was August 24, 1992, the shooting began at 2:30 p.m. and while bargaining with the Police, Valery I. Fabrikant put his gun down for a second to adjust his telephone wire, the person he was holding hostage kicked the phone away from the delusional professor whereupon he was apprehended by police who waiting in the wings.

    Mr Fabrikant is serving life in prison. He had not taken a lawyer and acted for himself in his court case.

    (As an aside, I heard the multiple police and or ambulance sirens that afternoon as I happened to be walking in the vicinity but didn’t see a thing. It was a great surprise to watch the evening news THAT night.)
