20 Replies to “Take Me, Obama”

  1. Notice how he says he’s a sap all the way through the article, but he still believes in Obama, knowing what he knows?

  2. “We’re not going to simplify the tax code, but by God Obama’s going to raise taxes on rich people who give to charity! We’ve got to do something to reduce the awful philanthropy surplus plaguing this country!”
If you are admitting you are a ‘sap’, then the proper conclusion to draw is that ‘you have been had’!
Hence the Obama-Nation(tm) who is according to the second link ‘brown on the outside, white on the inside’.
I mean seriously dudes, who in his right mind would expect a $1.5 trillion ‘tax the rich’ plan to make it through Congress and Senate when they haven’t even passed a budget for the past 2-3 years? This stuff is laughable and is rightly scorned.
The Obama-Nation(tm) should write a new book titled “Lies, Flim Flam, and the Timidity of Despair”.

  3. Brooks is a sap because of his delusion that any politician is capable of being a savior. Actually, I guess that makes him more of a statist or big government dupe. Then again perhaps sap is a good catch-all term for those types.

  4. Ralph Nader has announced he’s looking for candidates to challenge Barry’s nomination in the primaries. From the Left no less, they say Barry’s not progressive enough.
Barry will not win his primary if can they get a yeller dog willing to bark into a microphone at the debate.

  5. the voluminous amounts of journalism noting his moderation, his two books which are, themselves, exercises in moderation, then you have chosen to be ignorant.
    ~Ta-Nehisi Coates
    Moderation?
You keep using that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means.

  6. LC: “Brooks is a sap because of his delusion that any politician is capable of being a savior.”
A bridge too far, I think.
Are you saying that Winston Churchill was unimportant to Britain’s survival in WW2? Are you saying that Vaclav Havel and Lech Walensa were irrelevant to the emergence of democracy in the Czech Republic and Poland, respectively? Are you saying that David Ben Gurion and Golda Meir had nothing to do with the survival of Israel? Or perhaps Nelson Mandella had nothing to do with South Africa emerging from apartheid as well as it did?
You are making a serious mistake in lumping all politicians together. Barack Obama is unworthy to lick the shoe leather of any of the above.

  7. I am saying that for every political hero there has been a greater number of zeros. To be able to accurately predict ahead of time which politician will be which is exceedingly rare. To put your hope and faith in a politician based on speeches, soundbites or the crease of their pants is not a sign of a sound mind.
I am more of a believer in making sure the political system is well designed rather than relying on the benevolence of any political leader.

  8. This is going to end like Carter. Only America this time will have been violated economicaly by this Quisling in my opinion. I respect the Office of President. Very Much. The thing is I don’t give respect to the man in it unless they earn it.
    Theres a distinction.
To our American Cousins we feel the same about our PM. Look to the men who have forged this institution with honor. Ignore the bumblers or crooks.

  9. It’s all about seratonin levels. Leftists got high on Obama, and now they’re bummed on Zero.
    Must…find….more………before……………..

  10. LC, you can never predict ahead of time how anyone will do in a crisis. I agree with you about the design of a political system. I never have faith in any politician; I only have confidence after they’ve proved their worth. My quarrel was your use of the word “any”, indicating that all politicians were worthless.

  11. How about an appeasing change to “most” politicians are worthless (for you but only because I’m in good mood)?
The relentless growth of government, unnecessary regulations, crushing debts and today’s economic troubles indicates that the governing class, conservative or liberal, is not to be admired. They are good at politics but fail miserably at management and accountability. The financial burden being passed onto future generations is disgusting and immoral.

  12. syncro – to destroy my own point, the gun registry and CWB. Unfortunately, these occurrences are rare and are bitterly opposed by bureaucrats and rent-seekers.

  13. Hans Rupprecht, your line, ‘the Obama-Nation(tm) should write a new book titled “Lies, Flim Flam, and the Timidity of Despair”‘ strikes me as brilliant. Cheers!
