Meet Catherine Tait, the new CBC president.
“She lives in New York and is currently president of Duopoly, a company that produces digital, television and film content.
Like Bowling for Columbine.
The CBC needs to be an inclusive storyteller for Indigenous Peoples, women, newcomers and LGBTQ communities, she says.
Because if there’s anything the CBC hasn’t enough of…
Dear Conservatives,
When you have the opportunity to kill the snake, you do so. You stamp on its head, you grind it in, you make bloody sure that it will NOT come back again, ever.
The snake is not your friend, no matter what it says never forget that it wants to bite you, to hurt you.
CBC is a snake, Harper had the chance to kill it. He did not, that was a colossal mistake and now we are being bitten, again, and again, and again.
That’s because most “conservatives” aren’t in it to win it. They love to fundraise, shout out a good talking point or two but, when the rubber hits the road, they’re nowhere to be found.
This woman looks exactly how I expected her to.
I think you are correct on that point. And it would come back with a vengeance.
IMO, Harper’s philosophy was to appease the left, not confront it.
Even if Harper had spent the political capital to achieve shutting down the CBC, I think it is clear now that Justin would have just resurrected them….. and would have been hailed as a ‘hero of the people’ by leftards from coast to coast for doing so.
I too think Harper would have encountered major push back had he tried to shut down the CBC. It is the left’s sacred cow. A good strategy was to try to shrink it. With another mandate he may have been able to change how it operates to make it more accountable. The left hated Harper (grossly unfair in my view). Look how they screamed when he got rid of the long form census which no one was emotionally attached to in the same way that many are attached to the CBC. If this woman starts feeding us aboriginal, LGBT, women, etc. The CBC will kill itself. It already has poor audience share.
You mean like from all those idiot greybeard leftists who put out those moronic “We’re voting CBC!” signs on their lawns?
While progressives love the CBC, there are many “conservatives” who love it too; something something Hockey Night in Canada something something…I suspect if PM Harper tried to close it down or sell it off there would have been push back within his own party, never mind the other three. I would like to see it gone, and beyond here and a few other blogs I’ve yet to meet anyone in real life that wants the CBC gone.
As for it killing itself off, it’s funded by the government. I doubt they would let it die(red team or blue team).
Yes, it sounds like she is going to give us more reasons to tune out from CBC. As if there aren’t enough already!
Well said.
You’re absolutely correct, Frenchie, but Harper didn’t have Trump to learn from. Conservatives everywhere have always been terrified of confronting leftist / liberal / progressive snakes, but (slowly) some are finally learning from Trump’s confrontational example. As he gets more wins we can hope that timid conservatives (worldwide) will finally start growing a pair of fully functioning testicles.
I hope she follows-through on her ambitious plan of action – CBC will tank so hard, even the Liberals will have to notice.
I don’t think they rely much on successful advertising revenue, or ratings. If their total audience is 25 people, as long as 5 of then are trans, 6 ‘natives’, 4 Somalians, and the rest French, it will be considered a success.
Look at the mess Trump … we the people … are having to clean up after the Obama Alinskiites spent 8-years capering unmolested. Don’t allow the left to put a sleeper hold on Liberty.
because what the CBC needs is more crap people won’t watch. By people I mean normal people who don’t need their existence justified by the tax payer, because nobody else cares…
Ah, but think of the endless programming possibilities:
– Anne of Green Gables, LGBT version
– Anne of Green Gables, burqua style
– Anne of Green Gables, warrior against climate change
– Anne of Green Gables, anti-pipeline protester
– Anne of Green Gables, PM of Canada
Oh, and don’t forget that there could be a CBC channel devoted solely to our awesome Prime Minister. Non-stop programming of all his accomplishments, his wit, his wisdom, his…. his…. awesomeness. Imagine that: All Juthtin! 24/7!
Now, doesn’t that just make you proud to be Canadian? No? Me, neither.
This hour has 21 minutes
This hour has 20 minutes
This hour has 19 minutes…
CBC telling Canadians their stories. Actually its a group of producers in major cities dispensing fiction they think ordinary Canadians should hear. The audience for these people does not extend beyond the broadcasting studio. This should do wonders for ratings; were it not for mandatory carry orders from CRTC, no cable company could market their product.
Exxxxxxactly!
New layout is not working for me. Better before.
The CBC doesn’t know my story and won’t tell it if they ever do discover it. I’m just one of the great many who are included in the CBC’s exclusion of most Canadians.
Tait sounds like just the person Trudeau has selected to rush the State Broadcaster to a new low in viewer ship by pandering to an even narrow group than what they have now. Another Liberal plan to give more of our money to fewer select fringe groups.
I checked the Elections Canada website, and Ms. Tait has donated lots of dough to the federal Liberal party.
It seems that Catherine has impeccable qualifications for Canada’s premier leftist institutional anachronism. The only question is whether she will do the Spawn or does the Spawn do her?
what could possibly go wrong??
– Although – I gotta’ be honest – I gained a (pretty small, but anything helped) measure of respect for CBC after it ran that hatchet-piece on Shiny Potato’s gun-law statistical-bias methods…

I liked Harper, but not wiping out the CBC beyond resuscitation, is one of two collossal mistakes that will forever taint his Prime Ministership. The other is not killing C-68 and replacing it with a simple FAC that would not need to be renewed, and would only be revoked in the case of a criminal conviction

I fully agree.
One way the Conservatives can address the CBC is to insist it abide by Canadian content rules of, say, 80-20%.
It’s obsession with US politics and Trump is ridiculous. They’re getting $1 billion a year to regurgitate stuff from CNN.
One example. Last week they fawned over James Comey’s book on the Amazon charts along with an anti-Pence book by John Oliver. They didn’t mention that Jordan Peterson is the No. 1 book on Amazon this year and shaping up to be the best selling Canadian author ever.
So, great Canadian story completely ignored in favour of leftist nonsense from the US.
The CBC is appalling but most of all it doesn’t even pretend to be Canadian.
The CBC radio is already rife with such inclusive crap. I don’t know about the TV aspect, but just try to listen to the radio pride parade of narcissistic self congratulation and inane attempts at comedy. My wife and I have tried to listen for the kind of good radio that used to exist in days of yore, but it is all gone…..why? Because the trough only has room for the exclusive inclusive. Listen to music and read a good book and try not to think of the wasted tax dollars…
Buy a ‘privatize the CBC’ bumper sticker!
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/173214870737
Get it soon before the Liberals ban it as hate speech.
I”d love to, but, where would I park my car to avoid vandalism.
Of all the channels on my tv, I never tune in the CBC; CNN on very rare occasions and MSNBC never. On radio, I couldn’t tell you where to find a CBC station on the dial. Other than the fact they bleed billion$ from Canadians, they’re not a factor in my house.
Yeah….they are a factor in your house. Your taxes pay for it.
I worked at the Red Star over thirty years ago and had my eyes opened as to how the media edit and script the news. The CBC has been doing it to a far greater extent than the print media could ever hope for since the CBC is taxpayer subsidized. Harper tried to draw rein on the CBC but was not ruthless enough, hopefully this appointment will accomplish a type of self-immolation and we will be forever free of the beast.
“For Indigenous peoples to tell their own stories. To tell the stories of the many struggles and triumphs of new Canadians, of women and of the LGBTQ community.”
The CBC has gone all in with the dysfunctional groups of society….They should hold group therapy for self loathing losers….That has always been the “hidden” role that CBC played… You want to spin into a dangerous downer, watch CBC & take drugs
And how exactly does Tait figure women are a minority whose stories are not being told? Seems there are many Canadian women not featured on CBC, but that is due to their politics not conforming with the CBC standard.
Exxxxxxactly!
Here’s what is going to happen in the US, I’m afraid. Right now, the more to the Left your programming, the less viewers you have (and subsequently, the lower your advertisement revenue). This is true in newspapers, radio, television, and more recently, film. ESPN started spouting out their Liberal talking points, and now they are laying off employees, in droves.
So, what happens next?
Well, as soon as the Left takes back both Congressional Houses, and the Presidency, they are going to subsidize accepted programming with tax cuts and grants. They already do this to some extent. But, get ready for the media bailouts on the horizon. A nice fat check to the New York Times in the guise of some made up functionary bureaucracy. More tax cuts to Hollywood (which they already receive btw). Fairness in opinion representation on radio talkshows and talking head TV shows.
If Air America was around today and failing like it did a decade ago, there would be no hesitation from a Democrat majority government to toss a few million their way to keep up the charade.

here’s a dark tale that probably won’t make “the national”
“Known as the Hart Tribe, the multiracial family of two married women
— Sarah and Jennifer Hart — and six adopted children often took spontaneous
road trips to camp and hike and travelled to festivals and other events,
offering hugs and promoting unity.”
and then it all went sideways…

As the CBC continues to lose viewership it will receive more money to compensate for their good work. Any propaganda arm would be jealous of them.
The Cult. Marxist hegemony in the media and education is a mile wide and an inch deep of sedition.
All a Conservative government would have to do is allocate a budget to the CBC in proportion to their audience numbers.
The current Anti-Canadian Broadcasting Corporation would be exposed to Canadians voting directly to cut the budget.
That P.M. would be seen as accepting the directing guidance of the electorate, the perfect shield.
By founding principles, Canadians are a self-governing people. Power to the people.
?
is that Catherine O’Hara in another role?

Mulroney did more to torture the cbc than Harper did. He appointed antagonists to their board.
Conservatives when they form government once a generation follow that formula….mild torture.
Lots of cbc followers right here at SDA.
….That’s one bad hair dye job…
My adult children don’t watch any regular television.
The wife souring on cable. Next door neighbour too.
There is hope.
Let’s hope Chris Haddock is gay, or likes to wear a dress, or something…..
“The CBC needs to be an inclusive storyteller for Indigenous Peoples, women, newcomers and LGBTQ communities, she says.”
You mean it’s not already?
Could’ve fooled me.
“The CBC needs to be an inclusive storyteller for Indigenous Peoples, women, newcomers and LGBTQ communities, she says.”
So, no point in tuning in for the vast majority of Canadians!
“The CBC needs to be an inclusive storyteller for Indigenous Peoples, women, newcomers and LGBTQ communities, she says.”
Last time I checked all of those groups already have specialty television channels devoted to them and usually generously subsidized.
One of two things will happen: 1) CBC cuts into the audience share of specialty channels and they go to the government with their hands out for more money in order to survive. 2) CBC produces programs which they sell to the specialty networks. Either way the taxpayer winds up paying for programs that are never watched.
The way to bury the CBC is to outdo them.
Harper should have bought Sun News and gave them the same budget the CBC gets. And double down on the bias.
Then use the left’s outrage over that to whack them both. Let them make your argument for you.
Clearly we’re watching the Librano’s re-election advertising campaign unfold as a taxpayer funded program / programming.
Don’t care. Never watch it. (Liberal) Canadians are among the most brain washed, indoctrinated people on earth but don’t dare try to tell them that because … CBC! The one think I blame Harper for is not selling the damn thing.
Well said and same here.
“The CBC needs to be “
Breaking the crass ceiling
Stan:
We agree with you 100%. Pierre Karl Peladeau would maybe have entertained a buy-out of the Sun News Channel. The employees and viewers were unceremoniously dumped. Who does that? Why? They shot themselves in the foot!
“The CBC needs to be an inclusive storyteller for Indigenous Peoples, women, newcomers and LGBTQ communities, she says.”
Isn’t she forgetting somebody?
Bring back The Plouffe Family.
Hey, no modifications needed – because its 2018.
My mother used to love watching The Plouffes. But she didn’t know any French and would have only seen the English version.
What was that hockey themed soap opera CBC ran about 20 odd years ago? As I recall there were English and French versions of that and the French version was racier.
I remembered the name of the series. It was He Shoots, He Scores,
The original French version was “Lance et compte”.
Things you are going to see on CBC.
Um no.I stopped watching.
CBC only captures my attention when I bother to check how they failed to report on any news of national interest.Which is a online task.
CBC employees are not Presstitutes, they be full blown career parasites.
The ultimate revenge.
Give CBC to the Indian Grieveance crowd.
Combine two massive sinkhole for public money.
Imagine them reporting on reserve politics.
More magic stew.
A great irony here is that Tait seems to have decent credentials for this job, but because Trudeau is heavily into gender politics, many will assume she just got the appointment because she is a woman, and of course that was a factor.
C.B.C. = Commies Bankrupting Canada
CBC = Comrades Bullshitting Canadians
I heard this one. Like it.
CBC Motto: “If it isn’t left, it’s left out.”
CBC will survive on our dime. Ratings don’t matter, they run on regardless. Use it or lose it will never apply with the CBC, politically it’s a sacred cow.
But will she become known as Catherine The Tait?
So, not the Catherine Tate I was thinking of then:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_Tate
Today’s subway newspaper: METRO NEWS CANADA,
Headline:re : Catherine Tait to head CBC: Article goes on to say”
“The Liberals have pumped more money into the CBC – $675 million over five years – to reverse funding cuts made by the previous Conservative government. The issue is how the money is used. The Canadian Media Guild, the union representing workers at the CBC, says the broadcasters books show two-thirds of the new money went (and will continue to go) to outside productions for primetime television shows. The union says the new leadership will have to decide whether to spend the money in-house, or on outside companies.”
We are a ‘post’ national country! Is this the start of a liberal family fight, with 2/3 of the money going to outside productions? A little resentment there, perhaps?
Now we know why she got the job, we should have known it would have nothing to do with journalistic skills.
