Canada: Not worth living in unless they’ll make you Prime Minister.
“He talked about everything and anything, except why he wants to become PM.”

Most of those comments at the G & M are juvenile; they miss the point.
Love the outrage in the comments by the Lib supporters of “spending taxpayers dollars”, using the PMO email.
Is there some new internet thingy out there than makes you pay to push “send” on an email?
This from the supporters of a party who funnelled tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money to the Liberal party, and secreted paper bags of cash under the table.
Iggy is lucky, I suppose, that he wasn’t asked if he loved Canada?
Or what he did with ‘that’wafer, speaking of new lows.
Maybe they should have asked his wife the question. Dion’s wife didn’t flinch at speaking out.
Commenters are an edgy bunch for sure.
‘Seeing as this e-mail went out to CPC MPs and their supporters, why should anyone be indignant at a few pointed remarks being made about Michael Ignatieff’s less than passionate position on being the Canadian Prime Minister? I thought the remarks were quite measured: no four-letter words, no name-calling, no crudeness. My, my. Ms. Taber must be quite the demur little lass to find the contents of this e-mail “caustic.” Methinks the PMO’s “caustic mockery” is all in her little mind.
‘Seeing as it’s Giggle’s Taber in “Ottawa Notebook” blowing the whistle on Nasty Stephen Harper, well, ho hum. This kind of nudge, nudge, wink, wink journalism is right up her alley, and if this is all the dirt she has to dish, it must be a R-E-A-L-L-Y slow news day.
‘Seeing as Janey’s main interest isn’t in the news anyway, but in proving she’s a PPG Insider, who the Hell cares?
This seems like a great spot for this….
Walking Eagle
Michael Ignatieff was invited to address a major gathering of the Indian Nation in B.C. this summer..
He spoke for almost an hour on his future plans for increasing every First Nation’s present standard of living if he were elected Prime Minister.
He assured them he was always urging the present government to address more of the native community’s concerns. At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribe presented Mr. Ignatieff with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name -“Walking Eagle”.
The proud Ignatieff then departed waving to the crowd.
A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they came to select the new name given to Mr. Ignatieff.
They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.
Looking at the pic of ‘Iggy’ always reminds you to hide your wallet and have armor on your back. He looks like a sneaky, wanna be salesman.
So Canadians want to get rid of Harper but don’t want an election…Would that be the old Coalition coming back to haunt us? Iggy Go Home. You suffer from the same mental disorder as Obama.
Don Martin was on Rutherford yesterday, a repeat of a show in August. He told the story of how the Trudeau canoe trip was a fake, it was all done on a jetboat along the Nahanni. steaks cooked by the RCMP, all in all a lieberal myth.
Iggy did a similar bit in a park in Toronto pretending he was in the wilderness. cue the calling loons.
In this age of the internet, one would think that Taber could link to Iggy’s interview, so we could all judge for ourselves how well he answered the question. Apparently not.
Anyway, here is the interview on youtube.
My French is pretty weak, and Iggy is talking too fast for me, but here are bits and pieces of what I caught:
“Ahhh, this is a good question” … “good politics is moderate, centrist, practical” … “Canadians are concerned with blah blah” … “more competitive”, “we are the party of blah blah”, “all of today’s politics is about who is best prepared, blah blah”
Folks, Iggy loves Canada, he wrote a book about his “true patriot love”. He also recently said he came back to “serve” his country, we can take that as a counter to the real reason he “came back”, opportunity knocked, opportunity for HIMSELF.
How he expected to serve in politics or as a leader of a party is unclear given he had no experience in either. It’s the old Liberal way, dress a mannequin for the window, forget about what’s in the store.
Reading the lengthy but excellent “what it takes” by Ben kramer on the 88 elections and I am struck but the similarities between bush sr. and Ed stelmach and iggy ( and chretien and GWB). All have or had a huge desire to reach for the top position. But all had no ideas or philosophy on what to do as leader. This is a fatal weakness the results in disaster and a tarnished legacy.
Iggy has nothing to say when asked why he wants to be PM other than perhaps to not be Stephen Harper. Vacuousness is not a virtue. And canadians agree with the just visiting/opportunist meme. It seems to me that that label will be impossible to shake.
(ps – it is one of the great American tragedies that bob dole did not become potus in ’88 – it would have been a very different America and world if he had).
Speaking of virtuos vacuums… Lawrence Martin – liberal groupie leader – thinks that Trudeau is the saviuor:
http://www.metronews.ca/ottawa/comment/article/408229–trudeau-poised-to-lead-a-canadian-youth-movement
as perfect an argument for the end of the liberal party as I have seen.
Trudeau? hahahahaha*wipes tears of laughter****HAHAHAHA!!
DVC185 @ 9:27. I thought that story was about Trudeau. Anyway, it is still funny every time I read it. This story could just as easy be about “The One” south of the border.
Ignatieff wants to be Prime Minister of Canada simply because it will look good on his resume, and after he retires will make for an interesting conversation piece at parties with his elite friends.
“This is Michael,he was Prime Minister of Canada.”
“Oh,really. How quaint.”
Status and power would be my guess.
As a “political scientist”, or “philosopher” or whatever Iggy’s resume says he is, he has simply been trained for the past forty years or so to take a question and spin it into another question which has no connection with the original thought. Whether such a skill has any value in the real world is moot.
Iggy doesn’t have an original thought in his head. He is obviously an invitee to the world of Lieberal, and is a stand-in until they can anoint the Trussiah.
There’s a pattern to this guy’s life.
Married to Zsuzsanna Zsohar.
Political philosophy: Blah, blah. Yawn. Zzzzzz. Splutter! Zzzzzz. Do I deserve to be King? Well, let me think: Zzzzzz. I’m a public intellectual? Zzzzzz!
TrueDough
canada can’t afford $$$$$ another one of these communist idiots
Just what we need at this point in our history, another pinheaded academic dope. Is that history going to read, barbarians once again brutally conquer a peaceful, enlightened and progressive society?
I say to the politically correct/verbal cowards within, I hope you’re fist.
Gossip Girl, Jane Taber, is at it again.
I kid you not, I clicked on the CTV news site one day and saw “Gossip Girl” at the top; I assumed that meant Jane Taber’s ‘Hot or Not.’
Obama’s term as President bodes well for a Conservative Prime Minister remaining in the driver’s seat in this country. CONTRAST is illustrative.
Ignatieff is cerebral but he lacks the common sense gene.
Justin Trudeau – a youth movement , that waste of skin is 39 years old.
Electing Iggy or Turdeau would be the same as putting fresh lipstick on the same old pig.One is an eliteist and the other just the poster boy for nepotism, nothing to see here folks just move along.
Someone has made the opening by bringing up the subject of the young prince and his wish to be king…er…PM.
We know the problem the libs have with Iggy and that he won’t become PM, let me illustrate why Prince Nancyboy won’t get the big chair either.
There are many obstructions that exist now that didn’t 40 years ago when Pierre created his mania.
But the biggest obstruction to Justin being the be all to end all political juggernauts is the expectations placed before him and what he would have to do to achieve those “expectations”.
The advantage that PET had was that you could say one thing in one part of the country and never have to worry about it leaking out, or due to the lack of evidence any accusations against PET where ignored by the folks charged with reporting…too bad they only wanted to editorialize.
More to the point.
Justin’s trouble is that the expectation thrust upon him is to complete that one thing his father failed to do, get Quebec’s signature on the constitution.
Of course over the next year during the official start of the liberal leadership race perhaps someone could press the young prince on what he will offer Quebec in return for his legacy?
