Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Here’s trouble: I’m back in the saddle. I did enjoy an excellent excursion to visit old friends gathered in Vancouver for a special event; people originating from every province more or less. I’m reminded once again of what a great country Canada is. Now back in the studio, for today’s SDA Late Nite Radio, I offer to you Ed Byrne’s stand-up comedy essay on Irony:
video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7837455546155748954
Welcome back, Vitruvius. Any possibility of Goodman on the program tonight?
The way I see it, Neil, SDA Radio Late Nite should be a splash of vectors pointing in multiple directions, not a long-term celebration of any particular artist per se. Surely now that you have been reminded of the availability of some of Benny’s works, you can video.google.com for the rest.
In compensation for the letdown, while still respecting the guidelines I have outlined above, I offer in hope Jackie Mason’s essay on Starbucks:

When I was a boy, CJCA radio used to have a comedy hour every morning from 4 to 5 am. Early Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart, &c. Don’t tell my parents what I did 😉 So tonight is comedy hour at SDA Late Nite Radio.
Back to the standing waves art later, eh what?
I couldn’t agree more with you, Vitruvius. I was just getting too accustomed to the late night mellow sounds 😉
I’m very appreciative that you are posting these videos. Keep ’em coming!!
Well, in that case, Neil, here’s one more for tonight in theme: Rodney Dangerfield presenting Dom Irrera performing his sketch, I Don’t Talk Like That, Do You? which sometimes blog commenters who get carried away should be reminded of:

Funny how serious comedy is, isn’t it? George Santayana said, “Life is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feel”. George Bernard Shaw said, “Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh”. And Oscar Wilde said, “Life is too important to be taken seriously”.
G’night all, pleasent dreams.
Thanks for the comedy Vitruvius. Loved the irony bit!!!!!

Girl nearly choked to death in Mississauga yesterday for refusing to wear her hijab. Interviews with her friends say she just wanted to be “a normal Canadian girl”. In critical condition and may not make it.
Canada’s first honor killing?
And a little bit more power shifts West…
http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news/story.html?id=f54f40ca-3caf-43ad-aee1-c300ab24830e
The story about the father choking his daughter has really struck a nerve. Being the father of three daughters, 2 who have Muslim friends, this one is close to home.
Any man that would assault his own baby girl would be at the top of the “person whose ass I would like to pummel” list. That any man could nearly choke his baby girl to death is mind-numbing. Sure, some of my 3 daughter’s decisions are not the most thought through. But to lay a beating on any of my baby girls, just because she is not following my orders, is not only criminal, but ranks up there with pedophilia and murder. This piece of shit, if found guilty, had better get a lengthy jail sentence. This cannot be allowed to happen in Canadian society.
If these f#$%ers want to live live cave dwellers, head back to the ME, and move back into your cave.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!
“LIVE LIKE CAVE DWELLERS”
sorry….a little choked up over this one
This wouldn’t be Canada’s first honour killing. I am sure I have seen stories in the paper about local events that leave me wondering, even though they are never portrayed as such.
Sad–but not unexpected. This is not the first and won’t be the last. Don’t ignore the numbers of women that have been killed in the E Indian community because they marry the ‘wrong’ person. How many genital mutilations have been carried out in Canada?
How will the Injustice System handle this? Would it be racist to suggest the father did not have ‘rights’ to demand his religion be followed, rights that allow him to do anything to force this? Is this his ‘culture’ and all cultures are welcome in Canada,(except Canadian culture)? This is the mind-set we welcome in Canada. We reap what we sow.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Canadians are being Dhimmied, AND FAST?…
…by not only Muslims but a number of other minority specialty groups? The Western Standard, Free Dominion, Mark Steyn, fathers mortally wounding their daughters for not wearing the hijab which, apparently, isn’t even a religious requirement of Islam?
When is this Nation of, what up to now has been, wimps going to stand on its hind legs and roar ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
Our once great nation, bought at the price of our fathers’, mothers’, grandfathers’, grandmothers’ blood and sacrifice in the two World Wars, has been trashed by the Godless, multi-culti, equalizer terminators that inhabit our institutions of “higher learning,” our judiciary, and our media.
We don’t need to take back the Night. We need to take back our Nation. And I’m ashamed that too few Canadians, obvioiusly Kate and most SDA readers aside, recognize what’s happening to us and fewer still are willing to stand up and be counted.
If McLean’s doesn’t win in this travesty of a “human rights” (sic) fiasco, we’re in really deep trouble. ‘New dark ages a comin’…
And one last thing. Lest any moonbat accuse me of racism, bigotry or any other label, let me state that I HAVE put a beating on a white male who was very abusive to one of my daughter’s friends.
It may not have been legal, but it was very effective.
He will never throw a punch with his right arm again…….GUARANTEED!

“Neighbours said the father drives for Mississauga’s Blue and White Taxi.”
A company which has actively been refusing to pick up rides with dogs.
“”She just wanted to dress like us, just like a normal person,” said Holmes-Thompson.”
I detect a HRC complaint!
Never have I seen such desperation among the Liberals. They’re jumping up in the protection of Parliamentary immunity making spurious
accusations on a daily basis.
Now they’re calling for Baird to step aside because the Mayor of Ottawa has been charged they accuse Baird of being a player in the dealings somehow.
John Baird said emphatically he was not involved with any dealings. The media had the nerve to ask if he was consulting with his lawyers, Baird answered he didn’t have any lawyers!
Mark Holland, scary looking dude, stands wild-eyed in the HOC and demands Baird step down, accusing him of being part of this sorry mess.
When will they learn? Two apologies from the Dippers and now one from Paul Martin for wrongly dumping a Liberal candidate. All too late and of no value beyond formalities, the damage is done. The real kicker is we won’t hear any more about the reasons for the apologies. Anything to do with slime and sleaze involving the Left has a short shelf life.

Listened to AM640’s John Oakely show on the drive in this morning. He was taking calls on girl who was choked and what must have been a typical Torontonian phoned in. His response actually prompted me to email 640, which I’ll share here:
John,
I heard your last caller before the 6:30 news on this despicable event and nearly drove off the road! In short, his is the atttitude that allows, even tolerates and accepts, this type of repugnant behaviour to fester here in Canada.
His rhetorical answer to you, ‘what makes our culture better, as long as any child is abused here?’ (I’m paraphrasing) is reflective of the typical cultural relativist – at once self-loathing and unable value our western society.
It would take a fool not to recognize that by any objective measure, ours truly is a superior culture; and more generally, what makes westernized countries better is our British derived heritage. I say this as an immigrant son of non-Anglo parents who dreads what this country will look like 50 years hence if unexamined immigration and multiculturalism of the kind likely tolerated by your caller is permited to flourish.
“Girl nearly choked to death in Mississauga yesterday for refusing to wear her hijab”
Sad but not infrequent. After reading about charges laid in a ‘hate crime’ in NYC (they call them ‘bias crimes’ in NY), I can’t but wonder if this isn’t a well defined hate crime.
That of hating the western culture. You know, freedom of choice, self determination, and (somewhat) free speech.
The man wrapped his hands around his daughter’s throat and squeezed viciously until she was limp, ONLY because she wanted to wear secular clothing.
I doubt this man feels any different about other women, and how they look in our culture.
Only by bad fortune, was Ms. Parvez born to this whackjob, and he felt entitled to do what had to be done.
I wonder what the rest of the family was doing when this happened. Did they watch?
I see Mark Holland is at it again. Fresh from his non-censure for seizing personnel files from parliamentary couriers (where are results of investigation again?), he now defames Baird, making his cowardly attacks inside privilege of HofC. Once more, despicable personal attacks are meant to portray Tories as JUST AS CORRUPT AS LIBERALS. C’mon, Holland, make the same accusations outside parliament. He won’t because he knows he will get sued, big time.
An election can’t come too soon, so we can finally clean house of this bunch, and truly investigate Lib wrongdoing over the years, hopefully, and finally, with senior Liberals facing criminal charges.
Here is the plan, the left-liberal-socialist plan; the shining path to the socialist utopia.

The biggest travesty of justice in North American history has to be the Picton trial. Publication bans on a trial where there are missing people that may have been found had the Canadian public been given all of the evidence and the details? Gimme a break! DNA only identifies dead persons. It does nothing to find those that may still be alive!
This is a society where the Liberals were going to institute gun control to curb violent crime, as one of the worst serial killers on the planet was operating under their noses, and largely unchallenged. Picton should make the Guiness World Book of records by 2010.
It’s interesting to note that if Piction is convicted for all of his crimes, he will singlehandedly have murdered more people than all of the murders committed with handguns in an entire year, and in all of Canada.
The Picton trial, the Air India disaster, and now Robert Dziekanski being tazerd by police. I realize there is no relationship between the three events. I do however question the shrouded evidence that surround all three cases. Isn’t it time we questioned who controls the media in this country, and what’s happened to our freedom on information, and freedom of the press?? By press, I include “the net,” and SDA!

From American Thinker comes these nice little stats…
One would think that countries that signed the Kyoto treaty are doing a better job of curtailing carbon emissions. One would also think that the United States, the only country that does not even intend to sign, keeps on emitting carbon dioxide at growth levels much higher than those who signed.
And one would be wrong.
The Kyoto treaty was agreed upon in late 1997 and countries started signing and ratifying it in 1998. A list of countries and their carbon dioxide emissions due to consumption of fossil fuels is available from the U.S. government. If we look at that data and compare 2004 (latest year for which data is available) to 1997 (last year before the Kyoto treaty was signed), we find the following.
* Emissions worldwide increased 18.0%.
* Emissions from countries that signed the treaty increased 21.1%.
* Emissions from non-signers increased 10.0%.
* Emissions from the U.S. increased 6.6%.
In fact, emissions from the U.S. grew slower than those of over 75% of the countries that signed Kyoto. Below are the growth rates of carbon dioxide emissions, from 1997 to 2004, for a few selected countries, all Kyoto signers. (Remember, the comparative number for the U.S. is 6.6%.)
* Maldives, 252%.
* Sudan, 142%.
* China, 55%.
* Luxembourg, 43%
* Iran, 39%.
* Iceland, 29%.
* Norway, 24%.
* Russia, 16%.
* Italy, 16%.
* Finland, 15%.
* Mexico, 11%.
* Japan, 11%.
* Canada, 8.8%.
World and U.S. opinion seems to revolve around who signed Kyoto rather than actual carbon dioxide emissions. Once again, stated intent trumps actual results. Can even the global warming believers possibly believe this treaty has anything to do with it?

True, Muhammed never instituted it in the Qu’ran, as Muslims will be quick to point out, it’s just there like the Christmas tree at Christmas, or the Easter Bunny at Easter. Jesus Didn’t institute them in our bible either.
Look at it this way…what does it say about the family structure in Islam? How can “family love” as we westerners define it, exist in Islam? Back home this goes unnoticed and largely unreported. When it is, the killer(s) might get 2 to 6 months and then get out early. How would this affect siblings who perhaps witnessed or even participated? You would think dysfunctional would be a little mild wouldn’t you?
But hey, lets not upset the Muslims with racist criticism.
Via Israpundit, an interview with Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, “one of the leading voices for rejection of political Islam.”
A Muslim American
…Well, before 9/11, in the 1980s, as I found myself frustrated by the politicization of many but not all of the Muslim communities in which I participated, I began to focus on the main problem I experienced — the harmful impact of political Islam upon the practice of Islam in America. I slowly began to absorb as much information as I could about Salafism, Wahhabism, and its associated extremist ideology. I looked into the history and workings of the Muslim Brotherhood in America and realized that at some point anti-Islamists were going to need to take them on to rescue our faith from their clutches….
Wow! Young, female, Muslim and Conservative. Meet Baroness Warsi:
UK Muslims warned against ‘victim culture’
“For me, cohesion means that where there is local diversity, different races and religions get along. Cohesion should never mean multiculturalism, in the way that this concept has been translated by Labour: the doctrine of separate identity, with each group encouraged to feel that identity requires the expression of difference to the point of hostility.
“Multiculturalism has been manipulated to entrench the right to difference, a divisive concept, at the expense of the right to equal treatment despite difference, a unifying concept. And the fact that cohesion is local, means Labour get it wrong when they go in the other direction too. After years of promoting top-down multiculturalism, Gordon Brown is now promoting top-down unity.”
She went on: “Of course, localism has to be in the context of a national consciousness – and that’s why I want us to reverse the failed state multicultural approach and ensure there is sufficient English language teaching for new arrivals, and proper teaching of English history for our children so that they have a deep understanding of our great institutions and how they came to be as they are.

Attack in Algiers: A Warning to Europe …
Death and destruction revisited the Algerian capital of Algiers Tuesday morning when a pair of powerful car bombs exploded, and claimed what early estimates placed as 62 lives. Though no claims of responsibility have been made, security experts say there’s little doubt the attack was the work of al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), a group that formed an alliance with Osama bin Laden’s global jihad in 2006. Officials say Tuesday’s spectacular strike increases the risk that AQIM is ramping up its violent struggle to bring down the Algerian government. And as the fourth big hit by AQIM in less than a year, the incident highlights the group’s increasing organizational skills and establishes it as the greatest potential terror threat to continental Europe as well. …-
