Earthquake In Venezuela

And it looks to be rough. (magnitude 7.1 and 7.5)

Updated to share a couple of videos. There are of course, scores of these across social media.

A Venezuelan records himself running [down[ the stairs of his building while the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela were occurring; you can see how the stairs are cracked.

Good Lord, have they not been through enough? USGS fears up to 100K deaths

  1. terrifying. in a world run by common sense ingenuity and compassion, a gigantic aid effort from USA would alert venezuelans they are NOT the ‘enemy’, but in the demonically corrupt brains of those running (ruining?) the show they would alas, allow 10,000s their OWN citizens starve and die were it ever that bad. and the common thread: socialism. defying human nature, defying mother nature.

  2. So, completely unanticipated by the seismologist experts? I think I’ll just measure shark attacks.
I mean horrible, but what the heck are we even doing?

  3. a world wide system of stockpiling emergency good, tents, warm clothing, medical supplies (do single use hypodermics have an expiry date?) and even canned good periodically replaced. and generators and communications devices, flashlites you name it at secure locations in shake prone areas.

except it would NEVER work, alas too often the ‘well secured access’ would be found to have been breached and the emergency aid items long gone on the grey market.
    right
    when
    needed
    most.

as such, well who is to blame but the very ones it was meant to assist? and because l know dam right well THIS describes huge swaths of the turd woild, well, the sympathy meter flickered momentarily and then lay silent again.
once again l *cannot* sympathize with those who bring grief on their own heads, by voting patterns or remaining silent for generations in the face of 1/4 million of their own kids raped by ragheads. as covered and condemned previously. sowwwwy !!!! cannot doooooo !!!!!

  4. Translated from Spanish:
“At this moment, we have offered assistance to the Government of Venezuela through our Foreign Ministry.
300 rescuers and paramedics, along with 50 tons of equipment, medicines, and essential supplies, are ready to depart for Caracas ”

I’ve seen no response from the Gov’t of Canada or the PM of Brookfield, my expectation is near zero.
The Embassy of Canada in Caracas has been closed since 2 June 2019 and is represented in Bogota Colombia.

  5. Note that the greatest damage is at the bottom levels of the stairwell. That’s called ‘base shear’. The building floors above are swaying laterally and flexing while the building base … anchored to the ground is essentially fixed and getting absolutely torn apart.

This is why high rise buildings are designed on rollers/bearings and the top of the building is fitted with a mass suspended on a pendulum to dampen the swaying.

  6. I thought I was going to leave some snarky remarks, but after perusing many videos, I have to take it all back and can only offer thoughts and prayers to the afflicted. Such a thing will eventually visit us in the west coast of Canada. MAID I be dead when such time comes (Could NOT hold myself…)

    1. CF, l steel myself to a time when Liberalism has turned Canaduh into a reenactment of the salem witches on a national scale. l WILL ‘take as many of them with me as l can’. let it be spectaular. let it be inspirational for this empty hulk ‘post national state’ to inspire hundreds to copy. some vastly exceeding my tally. l truly deeply hate Liberals to this extent.

  7. Watching the video of the man running down the stairs makes me wonder: if you are on a top floor is it a good idea to scramble down the stairs and possibly be crushed by the building coming down on top of you or whether it’s better to get up on the roof and let the building fall down under you.

Of course, you may die or be seriosly injured either way, but destiny often hinges on such snap decisions.

  8. Saw an interview with Rubio this morning. The US appears to be all in starting with search and rescue aid, with Hegseth organizing the military to get people there.
Side note – listening to Rubio over the last few months on various subject, he would be better than Vance as next president. Either of course would be better than any of the Dem criminals and weirdos.
