2. Thank you for posting this clip as it reminds me of what happened when I was in Grade 4 at Vincent Massey Public School in Ottawa in 1961. It was the Cuban crisis and for some odd reason, our teacher thought that Ottawa could be hit by a nuclear bomb. She advised us to hide under our desks. I was a tall girl for my age and I remember thinking, “I am going to die as I will not fit under the desk!”
   I told this story to my “brother from another mother” who is Catholic and is now 6′-3″ – he was a tall kid in Grade 4 in Niagara Falls. He told me that the Catholic School Board inherited the old wooden desks with the drawers under the seat. The nuns advised the students to hide under the desk as well and they were also told to pray, pray and pray “For World Peace”. We were so naive back then!
