  1. It’s no secret that I’m pro-independence for Alberta and Saskatchewan. Beyond the cultural, political and economic issues that support independence there’s the issue of political degeneracy, moral decay and ethical corruption in Canada that all citizens should care about.

In fact, I think that the issue of corruption and fraud in Ottawa is one of the reasons why the central Canadian chattering class is so desperately trying to prevent an independence campaign. I can almost guarantee that the pro-independence movement will argue that Canada is descending into a banana republic and that it’s best to break free of Canada before it’s too late. The last thing the federal government and their courtiers want is for Canadians to wake up and take a critical, honest look at the current state of Canada.

    1. “Beyond the cultural, political and economic issues that support independence there’s the issue of political degeneracy, moral decay and ethical corruption in Canada that all citizens should care about.”

      Hear hear.
I contend that Canadians don’t have Alberta values.

  2. well, in simplest terms, if a Conservative built the country, let it be a Liberal that busts it up.
esp given the blasé attitude when John A’s statues were beheaded and name expunged.
good. a fitting final act to the play called Canaduh.
the place served me well, Liberals and liberals demand to smash it, well they’s the majority.

  3. The main problems started under Pearson with the idiotic Bi & Bi Commission. It effectively gave Quebec carte blanche and elevated its importance well beyond its true value. Everything else falls out of that….including the idiotic “Multiculturalism” rubbish which was designed to “disappear” the English part of Canada (which of course defeated the French). Although most immigrants spoke, or at least learned, English, they were very much culturally aligned with the “English”.

Ever since, the “importance” of Quebec was amplified while that of the rest of Canada was diminished.

There are numerous, NUMEROUS, grievances of the West. Including the fight that was required to get the ownership of resources….the requirement to buy everything from Eastern Canada (even seed in the 1930’s….Alberta farmers were not allowed to buy seed from Montana but had to get it from the East and by the time it arrived (often late), it was split and would not germinate. That happened to the farm my Dad’s family had near Champion.

And of course the outright theft of Alberta oil and gas wealth under the despicable NEP. And then the 10 lost year under that prick Justin Trudeau.

No name has done more damage to Canada than Trudeau. They are scum.

    1. Great comment. You are absolutely correct. The division in Canada that has grown into what it is today was started by Pierre Trudeau way back in 1968, not long after he was first elected. Google his arrogant ‘Why Should I Sell Your Wheat’ from 1968. The Trudeaus began their destruction of Canada only one year after our young country celebrated it’s first hundred years of being a nation. Pretty sad. It should never be forgotten.

  4. Alberta and Saskatchewan were supposed to be ONE province, however Librano Frank Oliver didn`t think a western province that could rival Quebec or Ontario was a great idea.

I wish the District of Saskatchewan had been annexed by the US Congress in the 1860`s as it was supposed to be and saved Alberta and Saskatchewan a 160 years plus of heart ache.

  5. I saw this comment under this tweet – “Eastern Canada gets its oil from Nigeria with zero carbon capture and near zero environmental regulations and then looks down on Alberta for paying all the bills.”
Pretty much sums up how stupid and ignorant most Canadians are. Vote liberal to save the world from nasty Albertan CO2 while every ounce of gas they put in their own car is from an environmental s’hole.

    1. Pretty much all boomers are vicious hypocrites. They hate America but love to go there during the winter. “Tax tfe rich” wait not me though. Save the earth! Here’s my gas guzzler but it’s okay because I care and vote libtard. When the last one kicks the bucket everyone will cheer.

  6. Canadians are willing to do everything they can to keep Canada together, except actually address Alberta’s concerns.
They’ll lie, they’ll hurl insults, they’ll call us traitors and MAGA and blame Trump, and deny that equalization and MP numbers are a problem.
    But they won’t listen.

  7. I like the last half of Ibbitson’s comments, about jow central Canada that’s Alberta as a colony. Wiki still lists Ibbitson as a “contributing columnist for the Globe and Mail”, but this not really true. The Globe and Mail has tilted to the left, so much so that the moribund newspaper each day runs attack pieces against the Alberta government. The ruling Laurentian plutocracy does in fact treat Alberta as a colony. Saskatchewan as well.

  8. Anyone who bemoans BREXIT as somehow destroying Britain’s future is the ENEMY. A man who HATES freedom and sovereignty. No wonder he HATES the ‘separatist movement’ … because he HATES individual self-determination. He DEMANDS you OBEY … the Rules-Based Order.

  9. I wish nothing but the best for Alberta . At 79 I’m in no position to pack up and head west as much as I wish I could . Unfortunately the eastern bastards I’m surrounded by will use every fraudulent dirty trick in the book to stifle Alberta independence .

  10. I am warming toward Danielle Smith’s approach.
The referendum to hold a referendum , has glorious potential..while bypassing the activist courts and the mushy middle.
Holding a nonbinding referendum on holding a binding referendum seems idiotic at first.

    Until you consider Smiths position.
As Premier of Alberta, she is oath sworn to uphold the current State.
If her words are true, she wants Alberta to have Quebec Powers inside Canada.
And if the polls are accurate,as in disregard the unstated intentions of the 30% who usually refuse to vote, Independence ain’t there yet..

  11. Now to serve her agenda Smith needs leverage against the indifference of the East.
Constitutional Change will never happen in Canada ,unless the Parasitic Overload is terrified of loosing their freeload.
So holding the referendum on holding a referendum, allows Alberta to hold a freewheeling referendum on Canada.
And that is what issue is.
Canada,as run by our Eastern Comrades is a suicidal mess.Premier Smith offers a way for Albertans to vote their opinion on the current version of Can Ahh Duh.

  12. So October 19 will be a glorious gong show ,resulting in at least 60% or voters choosing the option “F**k Ottawa”.
    With no down side.
As Ottawa will never bargain in good faith, the second referendum will be the first choice.

And look at the characters leaping to the front of the “Yes to Canada” parade..
A “real persuasive” bunch of fools and bandits.
Think any of these new “patriots” can express what this “Canada” is?
The one they are calling us traitors for questioning?
Think even one of them, can explain what it is they are “protecting”?

After Dread Covid Theatre, the staggering assaults upon individual rights and freedoms by our governments.
The exposure of our “Charter of Rights and Freedoms” for the mockery it is..
The obvious notice, from our elected overloads, that there is no limit on what they can take, from the citizen..

All hail The State of Thuggery.

And I will be immensely entertained watching the Carney Chicken Dancers attempt to sell the continuance of Can Ahh Duh.
Almost as entertaining as the government media’s attempts to have eastern “Experts” tell us what Albertans want.

  13. Sorry about the long post,it was the forbidden word, that seemed to prevent posting as one..
    Canada MAID Stupid.
Bureaucrats proudly boasting about their ability to kill citizens..
    This is impossible to parody.
    This is Can Ahh Duh.

  14. If Alberta is serious about gaining independence they have to get rid of Danielle Smith. She is perfectly willing to walk the tight rope without committment if it prolongs her political career. She’s on record stating that she doesn’t want Alberta to leave. So, she will be perfectly willing to play by the rules set down by Ottawa. That means every disagreement will be challenged in court where those opposed hold a clear bias advantage. Smith will abide by those decisions regardless of how unconstitutional, bias or self-serving to Ottawa. Such compliance will derail any effort to leave by mere fatigue.

Short version: Unless the Premier of Alberta is 100% in on leaving Canada, it will be drawn out over decades until the issue just fades away.

    1. “If Alberta is serious about gaining independence they have to get rid of Danielle Smith.”

I really need you to explain to me why Danielle Smith has made such an effort to facilitate these citizen initiated referendums.
Particularly making the independence referendum so easily possible, lowering the signature threshold etc.
And if Danielle Smith is such an impediment and there is some other route, why don’t separatists just go ahead, take that route?
      Please explain to me.

“Unless the Premier of Alberta is 100% in on leaving Canada, it will be drawn out over decades until the issue just fades away.”

Are the citizens of Alberta 51% or more in favour of leaving Canada? I don’t know.
Neither do you. Neither does Danielle Smith’s UCP government.
We shall find out in October.

Will it be drawn out over decades?
I’m thinking we have a rare opportunity right now.
      A high water mark.
