  1. Sometimes, when I order pizza, I worry what I’m saying in code. Do mushrooms mean pale skin, and what would hold the anchovies be referring to?
Around here if you have a decorative white rock in your front yard, you’re advertising that you’re a swinger. Who knew?

Well, here’s another good overview on the prevalence of kid diddling. I’m gonna go dig this thing outta the lawn. … now I’m wondering about the Pansies.

    1. I fully support Kamala Harris injecting herself into the midterms; this is wonderful news.

  2. Stellantis to take a $26B write-down on its EV business. Share price collapses in the pre-market.

    1. Entirely predictable. Hardly anybody wants these things, event after years of glowing media coverage and gigantic government subsidies.

    1. Back when he contented himself with linguistics, Chomsky came up with some interesting ideas worthy of further research. I still think there is some merit to his notion that language is a innate biological process although the concept of a Universal Grammar is suspect.
But the world of academic as mystical guru of all things (even those outside of their expertise) was far too appealing. Who wants to be some crusty linguistics prof doing laborious and unacknowledged by the outside world work when one can go on the jet set party bus?
He’s always been a trotskyite and abject fool out of his real milieu…but I did like some of his lectures on linguistics back in the day.

      1. I remember Chomsky not so much for his socialist rants but for his steadfast refusal to actually debate them in public. Because nothing says “I stand by my principles” like refusing to defend them.

(supposedly it was because his wife wouldn’t allow it…)

        1. It was because he was an utter idiot and grifter when it came to his “principles”.

          Should have stuck with linguistics…

  3. Canada loses 25,000 jobs in January and the unemployment rate drops to 6.5%. Not sure how both are possible, must be government math.

    1. People are probably picking up 2nd, 3rd side hustles to make ends meet. Each gig counts as a “job created”. Probably how they could tout that Auto-pen’s administration had decent employment numbers. Rather than showing a healthy economy; it portrays one that is having trouble. Numbers may not lie, but they can frequently be made to hide the truth.

      1. I agree. Also I’m suspicious of how they calculate the unemployment rate. If you calculate the ratio between those who are working and those who are either not working or are collecting some form of government benefits, I’d wager the ratio is close to 50-50.

      2. Numbers may not lie but governments often do.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics is a (government) disaster and fabricated any statistics necessary to support “Bidenomics”. This was compounded by insane hiring to fill unnecessary jobs in government, both at the state and federal levels.

I heard a private economic analyst state this week that the rate of inflation in the US is believably about 1/3rd of what the bureaucracy known as government is claiming it to be.

Because the labour force declined faster than the number of employed. The number unemployed declined, because our population has declined (leveled off?) and some unemployed stopped searching for work. I have three stepsons, two of which have been laid off and are living off their wives’ income and unemployment enjoyment. The two are not counted as unemployed.

Today’s data shows that our country is entering an economic recession.

      1. Good points; thank you. The same happened here with regards to people just giving up no longer being counted as unemployed.
I do question whether or not your real population (which is comprised of non-citizens as well as citizens) is leveling off — but I’m sure your government will be happy to use that statistic to make their case for further immigration.

    1. L – One of Tristan Hopper’s best articles. The Surrey Mayor decking an emergency to the out of control gangster extortion shootings. An Indian National organized crime group named Bishnoi are operating at an industrial scale. Apparently, a few of the victims have been “shooting back” according to the police; who are quite upset about it, are label it “vigilantism”.

Under British Common-Law that used to be called self-defence. I was once told by a grad student from India, that keeping a loaded pistol accessible for self-defence was legal there. They immigrate here and discover, they have fewer rights. Now some of them are returning to India to avoid being a victim.

The article has an interesting illustrative infrared photo of multiple attackers. The Surrey police are going to get two helicopters. Unless they are helicopter gunships, I can’t see that having much effect. With the judicial policy of giving quick bail to violent criminals and light sentences, so they can’t be deported. Policing is probably the most frustrating job in Canada.

Peter Mandelson: Metropolitan Police searches Lord Mandelson’s homes as part of Jeffrey Epstein investigation

Two properties have been searched by police officers as part of Scotland Yard’s investigation into Lord Mandelson
Scotland Yard confirmed the ex-Labour MP has not been arrested
ex-Business Secretary had been accused of leaking Downing Street emails and market-sensitive information to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein

    1. This maybe be why Charlie hustled Andy Mountbatten-Windsor off of the Windsor estate and into Sandringham exile posthaste. Reportedky, crews were already on site for cleanup couple of days ago.

    2. Wonder if they’ll look into Tony Blair? He was a very close associate of Mandelson in New Labor…along with Gordon Brown.
Remember him? The British Prime Minister (along with Sir Starmer) who covered up the grooming gangs problem (ah, those ‘Asian’ crime networks were a real money maker for some: rumors are that one Osama bin Laden got about 80 million pounds in donations).
Almost puts one in mind of the Somalis down here (and the ones in Canada as well).

      1. I forgot to mention (but it bears noting): and who was the Canadian PM that got along so swimmingly with Blair?
Ah yes, good old Stevie Harper! Such a feel good, cross the aisle story there! The good ol’ true blue western Canada boy and the posh Brit — a story made for television! maybe even a movie!
I notice Stevie has made an appearance as of late in the Canadian political scene. Wonder if Stevie deserves a good looking into?

        1. The good ol’ true blue western Canada boy…

Nope. Harper was born in Tranna. And it showed.

      2. Tousi TV host, Mahyar Tousi, has been covering Starmer-Mandelson scandal. Tousi refers to Mandelson as the Labour Party “king maker” in the 1990s and early 2000s. Tousi says both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown owe him. Who knows, maybe Lord Peter is singing.

        1. He was the power broker; Tousi is correct. I doubt that he’ll be singing though — he might throw Starmer under the bus but this is all likely great theater to sweep the big stuff under the rug…like those financial connections (there’s a big story there that many really really don’t want let out! geopolitical blowback of the highest order).
Think financial crisis, cartel money, war on terror…and then of course include the nasty sexy things (which are what’s distracting everybody). It’s a deep, deep cesspool to be sure, and everybody got to wallow in it.

“That’s how we ended up here. You outsource the economic policy to [Rachel] Reeves, the AI policy to [Tony] Blair, the campaign to McFadden, the devolution policy to Gordon Brown, the defense policy to George Robertson, the health policy to Alan Milburn, the foreign policy to Jonathan Powell. And then you outsource the politics of everything else — of the really important stuff that confounds and unsettles and repulses you — to Morgan [McSweeney], who outsources it to Peter [Mandelson], and all of a sudden, you’re left with the bill.”
Mandelson co-founded lobbying group Global Counsel in 2010 when Labour was ousted in UK election. Client Barclays severed ties yesterday but JP Morgan, Palantir, Alibaba and TikTok are still listed

          1. Global Counsel has issued a client’s statement that Peter Mandeldon no longer has any part of Global Counsel including stock.
