  1. Alberta will have a new vehicle/motorcycle license plate soon.
The provincial gov’t is having a poll to choose which design to go with, I believe the top 4 vote gainers will be having another round of votes, possibly to a round of 2, then the final vote tally for the winner. I don’t know if you have to reside in the province but you do have to submit an email address on this form, possibly so you don’t vote 9 times, they’re saying only one vote per person, and they’re not taking “nominations” for this so sadly there’ll not be a “Boaty McBoatface” type of winner, nor an EV plugged in and charging in front of a long lineup of discharged EV’s waiting to be pushed to the charging hook-up.

Note the words, “strong and free” are in the Canadian national anthem, and apparently not a nod to what our provincial future may be as an independent country.

Note, I don’t care if everyone knows which one I voted for, it’s #2 with the flag and the “3 Sisters” mountains on the right, and yes I have 3 daughters. I’d prefer there were some round hay bales for the horses in front of the mountains, and maybe an oil rig as well instead of the flag but whatever. I liked #8 too.

    1. Wyoming prays for you.
#8 rocks but #6 best resonates with Albertan reality.
As a non-Canadian, non-Albertan I’m not eligible to vote but my heart is always with y’all and I pray to someday see the province wrest itself away from Ottawan absurdity.

    2. Maybe I am old fashioned but I like the simplicity of #3. Wish the slogan was Liberal Free instead. Hoping that can become Canada’s new motto.

    3. I wanted the “Yellow Jackets” brought back. It irritated a lot, especially those who made lots of money off of Albertans.

    4. I kinda liked #1 … Cowboy STRONG! Cowboy UP! Isn’t the Calgary stampede Alberta’s strongest identity? Love the herding down the middle of a deserted highway.

  2. “Elections Canada calling around to see if space is available for an election after Nov 1st, 2025.
The next election might be sooner than we expect.
Considering Carney lied to Canadians and failed, I would hope so.”

roaddog, my ex and I got engaged near Grand Teton, that corridor from Red Lodge MT south into Yellowstone and south of Teton is one of my favorite areas in the world. Always will be.

    1. If the Libs lose a financial bill vote, then it is election. The Bloc has promised to oppose, but they would, wouldn’t they. The Dippers are in disarray so it may be a good time for the Libs to fall on a financial bill related to industry support, to make it look like the Cons are disruptive of measures to defend Canada against the big bad US Trump-monster.

    1. Is that a sales pitch to attract immigrants, or a warning to deter them?
Here in Manitoba our health care is much like the hospital gowns… You only think you are covered.

  3. Marc,
Albertans are similarly blessed west of Calgary. I made the drive from Calgary over to BC several times and that is spectacular country.
I was making sales calls in Fernie one time and the side of the mountain let loose on the eastern edge of town and pushed a locomotive off the tracks, forcing me to make a six- or seven-hour detour in order to eventually get to Calgary. A beautiful detour!
On that particular trip from Colorado to Fort Mac I encountered 4 separate blizzards.

btw, your contributions here are greatly appreciated and insightful.
    Cheers.

    1. I just finished my taxes for 2024 (on a legal extension … and getting a small refund) … and the State of CA offered me voter registration with the e-filing of my tax return!? WTF!? Voter registration? When you file your taxes? SMH

As a former teacher, she would have been fun in the classroom, if she wasn’t your mother.

And here’s an interesting analysis of how CBC’s ‘serious news’ manipulates people still dumb enough to watch them.
“Today we are breaking down media manipulation and how the CBC uses facial expressions, psychological triggers and vocal emphasis to influence your thoughts and opinions.”
