I’m normally surprised when people who mention this sort of thing to me, are surprised when I ask if the students at “whichever university” or in this case Dalhousie, pay the normal fee or expect to be “educated as well as the rest of them” when the field they’ve chosen to be educated in is limited to “women, disabled, gender-diverse applicants” and often specific non white sorts as well, and not by those who may be “best in their field”.
It appears to be two separate groups. “Diverse” or “best in their field” “Let it burn” or “celebrate your differences and maybe put the fire out at some point”.
When you phone the 911 to report a house fire, should one request the diverse group of firefighters? or should one settle for any group of firefighters who may have passed the firefighting course?
When people ask me to repair leaks or rearrange pipes in their house, I’ve yet to be asked if I’m diverse, I mean I’ve worked with some diverse characters in my day, certainly some have been openly gender different from whatever they were born as, one HVAC guy in Regina SK. would dress up as Robert Smith from The Cure every payday (full makeup and probably not fire safe clothing but of course with hardtoe boots) which of course, “no problem” but he just did the work the same as the next HVAC guy would have, and I never really noticed if his work deviated from the norm.
I can’t say the same for folks in uni.
Firefighters a poor example, at least in the US..
Absolutely rotten with DEI for 30 years.
I tested for a fire dept back in 2002. 200 applicants for 3 positions. After written and physical tests, I was #8 on the list. After diversity points accounted for, I dropped to 89.
That’s SICK. Just SICK.

A lot of diverse disabled women probably require artificial intelligence.
Sounds like a great opportunity for any engineer willing to throw on a dress and put some pink in their side-shave. Maybe put a pebble in your shoe for the finishing touch, and hobble into the interview. Pink bow on the cane, of course.
Because that’s what’s important in an “AI Research Chair.”
As time goes on, and this sort of thing keeps becoming ever-more ridiculous, the stored up energy for the backlash really starts to add up. If I were a newly hired Conservative guy after an election, I’d make it a personal goal to find and fire every single idiot that had anything to do with this, and all the other egregiously stupid hiring decisions made in the last ten years.
Time for DOGE Canada, the Maple Syrup Edition. Entire branches of government thrown on the scrap pile.
The only thing “serious” about Canada is its derangement.
It’s not a serous job, hence whoever get’s it will not have to show up for work at pretend job.
The pretend government will be happy.
The issuer of the job offer will mark another brawny point to look good to the pretend society.
What would be the problem?
Except we taxpayers cannot just pretend to pay for it.
I’ve “identified” as disabled ever since I learned I can line-cut at Disneyland when hobbling with a cane in hand. So sign me up for those bloated college salaries! Shut up and pay your inflated tuition you bratty little students who can’t even read or write.
