“China retaliated today by reducing the number of American films that can be shown there. What’s your reaction to them now targeting cultural exports from the United States?” one reporter asked.
“I think I’ve heard of worse things,” Trump said with a smile, prompting laughter from around the room.

Does that include all the flea market DVDs they pirate?
Well … the good news is that the ChiCom censors won’t mangle the ‘true artistry’ of Hollywood fare. Now Hollywood can go back to forcefeeding their perverted messages to the Free World … where we simply ignore and boycott them. We didn’t censor the Disney DEI remake of Snow WHITE … we simply ignored it.
AS per one of the comments on the post, “I think China will really miss the live action Snow White”. NOT!
Wait………….. Is this a bad thing?
Dust
It’s rite up there with the BC NDPee’s suggestion of glory hole sex during the Chinese flue!!!!
Thanks GYM
My day has changed… or wrecked. ??? LOL
Yeah… I never thought the day would come when China would be more tolerant than I am! If I bother to see three new movies this year, it’ll be unusual… They’d have to be worth seeing as well.
Two groups I despise (Hollywood and the Chicoms) fighting each other. You really hate to see it. Lol
A win win! Not sure who to root for! Shall enjoy popcorn watching the festivities!
More please. (-:
Can’t they both lose?
I used to be a big moviegoer, but the crap that’s been coming out for the past number of years, plus the excessive pricing of tickets and popcorn/drinks has reduced my cinema visits to perhaps once a year. Perhaps China’s move (and I agree with Edward above that pirated copies of movies will likely still get to China) will nudge Hollywood into making good movies? Follow the money!
the tipping point for me was the refreshement vendor demanded to put that severely salty garnish on the popcorn which naturally must be washed down with the $8 diluted cola.
ya. the ‘straw’ l used that day was ‘the last straw’ for that nonsense
Remember the days when Popcorn had coconut oil.
Ahhh the days of great taste
For the damage they did to American culture, I say Hollywood can FOAD.
Now, the movie studios won’t have China to unload their bombs. They will have to rely on the appeal of their output to American public.
Good! More power to the people!

You are a typical KatholiK joo hater. Hollydorks are mostly jooish yah know!
Jew Hater?
That’s a new one, gym. (What happened to “Pedophile?”)
Did you miss all of my posts regarding Oct 7?
You really are quite the meathead!
My contempt for hollywierd has nothing — I repeat — NOTHING to do with religion, and your ignorance of Catholics, who regard Jews as our religious allies, knows no bounds.
Do you REALLY believe that authentic and devout Jews are responsible for the trash coming out of Hollyweird? Are you that contemptable, or are you just trolling? Well congratulations. You’ve escalated this conflict between us.
Don’t you know that there is a difference between faithful Jews, and ethnic Jews? Do you know which category that George Soros falls under?
Really, you are beyond contempt, and are really quite stupid!
Oh… and for the record, just for your information, my uncle by marriage was Jewish, you moron, and if you followed my posts religiously (snicker), you’d know that.
Win-win.
Don’t care watch the Wuhan Chinks watch.
Now cue the Horrywood Stars pissing and moaning.
So no more sitting in the theatre and recording movies with a hand-held video camera, then selling it back to Americans for $9.99? Bummer. Campaigning against Trump probably didn’t help Hollywood .
ha ha ha!!! ah jeez. true story. 1991, my first visit to the british crown colony of my ex’s birth aka hong kong.
one evg they take me out to street vendor alley and the shops the size of a large bedroom jam packed with . . . bootlegged movies and DOS based s/w.
gobs of it. and a nifty gadget called VCD, a CD containing video format. movies would be editted to fit on 2 disks. priced about $8 U.S. iirc.
Hilarious. But the tariffs on Chinese goods will do enormous damage to the American economy. There’s no immediate replacement for many of those goods, so US companies will have to swallow the extra cost or shut their doors.
uhuh. and maybe the ‘worse before better’ is just the medicine USA needs to ‘go cold turkey’ and shuck its addiction to chirese crapola that downloads quality control to the end user? l really dont see that as a bad thing when up against the fortune and security of an entire nation.
I’ll gladly suffer Wall Streets DT’s for a trade and manufacturing reset … and I just bought the PANIC DIP heavily! Because I BELIEVE in American business … and BELIEVE Trump has got this exactly right.
But OTOH … Killer Marmot insists he’s far wealthier than I from shorting the Trump market. Oh well … and I guess my schlong doesn’t measure up either?
Are you now?
Those people who are about to become either unemployed or see their businesses close may have a different take. And the promised payoff might never arrive.
Keep dreamin’, but this medicine is not historically the sort that produces vibrant economies.
Trump is throwing small businesses that depend on international trade on the bonfire. Had Biden done this, Republicans would have been up in arms.
You have to cut the cord at some point. Like drugs users.
Beside most of the China stuff is just junk. They have made a mess of the auto parts companies
The enshitification of the world continues, un-abated!
Believe it or not there are worse parts than those that come from China and those parts are coming from INDIA! Mevotech TTX once the stalwart in heavy duty steering and suspension parts, has moved manufacturing to India, I had a set of ball joints wear out in 4 months! They used to be manufactured in North America, then went to China, now India. It is getting harder to get quality spares to repair things nowadays. I’ll take Mexico over China made parts, but China is better than India, I’m seeing brake pads, suspension and steering parts etc etc coming from India now and they are complete garbage! If I can, I will look up/at the country of manufacture and prioritize which one i buy parts from.
There is a company that makes ball joints in a small town in Alberta. They only have a few applications, mostly larger diesel trucks and are expensive, $1000/4 but they are adjustable, when they get loose you can tighten them up, are greaseable and also rebuildable, in-situ!
Zon
Rebuild able. Now that’s a Great part.
I had a valve cover oil leak in my 335i which I repaired myself … because my brother was a top quality mechanic and taught me the trade. The valve cover is plastic which needs to be replaced with the gasket.
O.M.G. the number and variety of CHEAP CRAP on the marketplace from China, Mexico, India … was seriously depressing. I went with the OEM made in Germany … well I think in Poland or somewhere under the supervision and quality control of BMW. I didn’t mind paying the significantly higher price for the quality and reliability. I can’t imagine tearing the top of my engine apart … only to install cheap Chinese crap
I wouldn’t describe garments and electronics as “junk.”
Cutting the cord to international trade is cutting the cord to prosperity.

Like the Clotshot?
“KM, stupidly thinking he can predict the future again.”
No, it’s just his TDS talking (again). If Trump is involved in it, KM is against it…period.
I used to think that TDS meant those who screeched “Fascist!” everytime Trump signed an executive order.
Now I’ve come to think of it as those who support Trump no matter what he does or says, no matter how insane. It’s idolization on steriods,
You are seeing it from a typical low-productivity Canadian view point. The Americans will just figure out how/where to replace/build the Chinese goods.
That is what they do.
Canadian’s just whine and whine and whine about everything and nothing gets done.
That is what we do.
“Canadian’s just whine and whine and whine about everything and nothing gets done.
That is what we do.”
So true.
I am seeing new cardboard displays in the supermarkets and hearing new ads on the radio about how “Canadian” various companies are, as they seek to exploit this dispute for short-term financial gain. Every time I hear someone mention “fighting” or “standing up to” Donald Trump, I ask them to detail specifically how they think we could possibly do that without hurting ourselves *ten times* worse…and I just get glared at or accused of being a “Trump lover”. I then smile and say, “Okay, I accept your surrender”. They REALLY hate that. 🙂
Perhaps someone here would care to take a stab at it? Tell me how the 17% of the US economy that relies on Canada can somehow be leveraged against the 78% of our Canadian economy that depends on them., in a way that allows Canada to come out on top. Please…I’m all ears…
Most of the consumer junk on Amazon from China I am sure I could live without. Walmart will take a hit for sure. Everything they sell is Chinese. My opinion. Not so enormous.

I buy as little Chinese stuff as possible, and have for years. Zero food products….I don’t care how cheap they are.
Anyway, Space Ice does the best movie reviews, maybe even better than The Critical Drinker:

Oh no! they gonna miss out on movies like musicals about a drug kingpin trans!
