    It’s difficult to argue against the success that El Salvador has had on this front… within the country it’s clear that not too many want to return to the old days.

Part of the motivation for why russia is doing it, is deadbeat demographics. Russia wants white people and since (thankfully) russians rarely breed and since the products of those ignoble unions tend to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome, russia is seeking outside replacements.

            Also, many men who were minors and got kidnapped in 2022 have two years later reached age of maturity and have been sent as soldats into meat assaults.

            Also, Ukrainian families who stayed in occupied territories or were refused an escape route to civilization, have been ethnically cleansed form the occupied territories and “resettled” into Siberia. To a gulag in fact. A huge proportion of them have been separated from their children.

          Simplistic thinking, not logic. Logic would dictate that anyone who accepts and promotes the ideology, symbolism and values of the Nazis IS in fact a (neo) Nazi…party or no party, 1944 or 2024.

          (however, using your logic, there are clearly no more COMMUNISTS outside of China anymore either…so that’s good to know)

        All the grandiose tales of how the valiant, plucky Ukrainians would soon be driving the defeated Russians into a panicked retreat back across their borders having been exposed as *pure fantasy*, desperation is all he/she has left.

            And COULD have, if they had chosen to invade with enough troops to do so. But they didn’t. Even if they had manged to take Kiev in the early days of the invasion they would not have held it for long, since Kiev was *not their actual goal*.

            Here, take it from the New York Times:

            The reality is that russia always wants everything and gets only as much as it can take. Such is the nature of the horde. There is never a limit. In the end of 2021 and start of 2022 Putin was very clear that his ambitions extend all the way to Oder. Then his ambitions got tempered by reality several times and very time they got tempered sock puppets like you revised their expectations and claim that “it was always that all along”.

There is always some false conviction that there is logic and moral justification for russia’s action. That we could compromise and achieve a result that benefits both sides. It is similar lack of understanding as westerners often exhibit towards islam. For russians, display of willingness to compromise is always a sign of weakness. It does nothing but encourages the thugs.

            Westerners need to finally give up the delusion that russia is about anything but cynical opportunism and thuggery. Take for example the lie of “Great Patriotic War” it needs to be buried once and for all. Westerners learned about Eastern Front first from German memoirs and then from russian ones. The myth of russian fierce patriotism and selfless willingness to sacrifice are nested in tales of horror from the Eastern Front. That has literarily never been true. Fear and opportunism is what drives a russian animal in its daily life at home and at the front line. And this has always been the case.

            To paraphrase a Polish proverb: Smack a thug and he will hug you. Hug a thug and he will smack you.

    I owned Allied Properties stock up until the pandemic in 2020. It renovates old buildings into cute, upscale-trendy offices that hip-technology and telecommunications companies like. But these corporations have allowed work-from-home. Who wants to work in downtown Toronto anyways?

    1. I invested a lot in REITS twenty years ago, but over time have sold anything that wasn’t residential. Only one I have now is Interrent (IIP), which has done very well over the past twenty years. All it’s properties are apartment buildings. With interest rates maybe coming down it’s cashflow should improve and there is very low vacancy rates. Should be a good buy now.
