Unbelievable. I’m astonished that a journalist for The Washington Post would consider this to be ethical. Are they not trained for this sort of thing?
If the Post has an ounce of integrity it would back this waaaaay up, including a public apology and reaching out to those sponsors who were contacted with the email.
And if it doesn’t then lawsuits for defamation and tortious interference would seem appropriate.

Personally, I think the WP reporter was perfectly accurate in her email to that sponsor. If anything, she showed restraint. Anyone who took the time to familiarize themselves with some of Portnoy’s antics would likely agree.

Whatever it was…the Washington Post cancelled his interview that was to take place the following morning. Were I the journalist…I would have done the same (if I had my facts).
