    In their eyes the government is ‘rewarding their corporate friends with giveaways’ dontcha know.
    The NDP believes that sitting on your ass dependent on government help is superior to a good paying job in the private sector.

  5. Did you notice that “Manitoba moved up to second place this year after ranking 19th the previous year.” since electing a Conservative gubmint? Cudos to the Cons, laughing fits at the Dippers who are now mining the province for some support, any support.

  7. I couldn’t help but notice that Alberta is 11th out of 12 in Canada while BC is 8th. BC still has a moratorium on Uranium exploration that goes back to the days of Dave Barrett’s NDP disaster. Saskatchewan is one of the world’s biggest players and in BC you can’t even look for the stuff. And yet, Red Rose country is seen as a worse jurisdiction. When it comes to mining (and virtually everything else), the NDP has the opposite of the Midas touch where instead of Gold, everything it touches turns to shit.

    I’m surprised BC is as high as it is. $200 Billion in LNG investment pissed away as the USA as built their plants and are now shipping. Combine that with the billions $’s lost in less than world price on crude oil exports. B.C. was the led on seeing that west coast oil terminal and pipelines were not built.

    I honestly don’t know why Mandryk doesn’t throw his hat in the NDP leadership ring. He has all the qualifications necessary for the job…hatred of free enterprise in any shape or form, loathing of the work ethic and self-reliance, love of big government and the welfare mentality and, most important, terminal stupidity.
    Maybe he should become a politician. After all, he’s sure as hell not a journalist.

  11. Congratulations to two prairie provinces for being at the top of the pack. When thinking about what it takes to stay there, it’s a good idea to remember that it doesn’t take a lot of bad policy to destroy the attractiveness of a jurisdiction. Further, the bad policy doesn’t necessarily have to be natural resource policy. Loss of basic security and/or rule of law renders a jurisdiction unattractive, regardless of the quality of deposits or the openness of the government to mining investment. Just look at who is at the bottom of the list:
    “The 10 least attractive jurisdictions for investment based on the PPI rankings (starting with the worst) are Venezuela, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chubut, South Sudan, Mendoza, and Ecuador.”
    Successful Canadian jurisdictions need to remember this when considering what cultures they want to import into their midst.
