Well … when EVERY wildfire in CA is blamed on global warming … all that does is guarantee MORE fires to come. So, rest assured … there are MORE “2020 Fires” coming … my prediction? The summer of 2024.

Fraulein Freeland told us in last year’s budget that Canada’s wildfires were increasing. If you simply Google “Canadian National Fire Database (CNFDB)” you can see that both the wildfire frequency and the area burned have decreased.
When I asked Ms. Freeland’s Ministry under the Access to Information Act where they got their numbers from I was told that the information couldn’t be given to me. Why?

Firstly, most forest fires (including the biggie in Fort McMurray) are started by man, rather than Mother Nature. As population increases and access improves there are more campers.
Whether we fight a fire or not depends mainly on where it is. We just let them burn in remote locations.
In addition to location, the area burned is influenced by budgets. Do we have the manpower and the money to hire water bombers?
The other issue is the wild fluctuation in the annual statistics. At 218,000 hectares burned, 2020 was the lowest on record (strange, didn’t see that in the papers!) down 97% from the 7,540,000 1989 bad fire season.
But when saving the world from climate change is her top priority you can see why truth is necessary collateral damage.
Fires are a natural and necessary part of maintaining a healthy forest ecosystem.
Mentioned in many responses, but not here yet, is that pines with their fast restart (and fast poisoning of the environment by acidic degradation of soils) are a normal part of the post-fire recovery of the healthy forest. Details are the primary enemy of “one solution fits all”.
So that explains what I drove through on the first night of the “fire”
Those were “firefighters” conducting “controlled burns” and “ventilating” windows to “rescue” cigarettes and scratch off tickets.

MN Governor Walz refused to call up the National Guard for 4 (FOUR!!!) freaking nights. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Walz and the mayors of Mpls and St.Paul did almost nothing, other than playing Nero and watch it all burn. The few National Guard, State Patrol and such were stationed around the downtown Government buildings like City Halls, Jails, County Buildings, and the Capitol. Lake Street, Midway, Uptown, and the neighborhoods were sh!t out of luck, and hundreds of buildings were looted and burned. They overran and burnt the MPD 3rd Police Precinct to the ground on Thursday. The almost got the MPD 4th Precinct Friday night too. They did get more than a few banks and Post Offices.
The only reason Governor Walz finally broke down and called the guard out on Saturday? Trump had the Army and Marines deploying to airfields to fly into Mpls to halt the riots. By then it was too freaking late. The riots had spread to every blue city by Friday Night.
The Minneapolis riots ended Saturday as soon as the Guard was deployed. The Protests for George Floyd continued for weeks, but the protests were PEACEFUL. Imagine what would have happened if Walz had called out the Guard on Tuesday or Wednesday?
