They were duped – and so were we. That was the conclusion of last week’s damning revelation that world leaders signed the Paris Agreement on climate change under the sway of unverified and questionable data.
A landmark scientific paper -the one that caused a sensation by claiming there has been NO slowdown in global warming since 2000 – was critically flawed. And thanks to the bravery of a whistleblower, we now know that for a fact.
The response has been extraordinary, with The Mail on Sunday’s disclosures reverberating around the world. There have been nearly 150,000 Facebook ‘shares’ since last Sunday, an astonishing number for a technically detailed piece, and extensive coverage in media at home and abroad.
Well, “abroad” not so much.
It’s reported the cost of sending a man to Mars totals $30 Billion.

Just to be clear, John Bates is the “whistleblower” who critiqued the NOAA paper, and you folks are “people.”
So Bates is not the hero we think as he only quibbles with “data integrity” rather than fraudulent science that it actually is.
Jamie is right, the scam artists efforts to de-industrialize the west will go full steam ahead, especially in Canada and most European countries, except for whatever Trump does to slow it down.

I’m pretty sure that climate alarmist/revenue hungry politicians and scientifically illiterate journalists don’t care about the integrity of science. There’s no indication of the curiosity and skepticism that is an essential part of science. No, they’re just promoting their revenue policies, so scientists and journalists willing to produce made-to-order reports are highly valued political allies. As such, only political allies trust climate alarmist politicians, scientists and journalists. In general, this is the pattern:
Weather events that support the alarmists narrative is CAGW, all others are just weather. Example- all warming is unnatural, all cold weather in natural.
Non alarmist research is unreliable Koch brothers paid for lies. Alarmists research is pure and Truth.
Non alarmist whistle blowers are criminals and thieves. It is unethical to write about stolen data. Pro alarmist leakers are heros. It is unethical *not* to endlessly write about the liberated data.
Bad news about droughts, tornadoes, hurricanes, (real or predicted by models) are front page news. Never pick apart the statistics. Good news that almost all of those weather events have declined are roundly ignored or denied.
The failure of unreliable, expensive, undispatchable power is ignored. Only talk about installed capacity and the highly misleading levelized cost measurement.
Pretend there is not a large and growing gap between constantly adjusted land and sea data compared to lightly adjusted satellite data. Divergence, what diverrgence?
Never, ever talk about any global warming benefits (real or predicted by models). Ensure absolute silence about the true cost of CAGW policies or that they produce ridiculously miniscule change in future temps. The lower costs of adaptation and technological fixes instead of mitigation, carbon pricing and rationing must never be discussed.
Call all non alarmists deniers. “Shut up, they explained”.
Result: At least half the population thinks climate alarmist politicians, scientists and journalists are full of BS.

The elephant in the room is that the scam required all the western countries played along and ran their economies into the ditch.

I’m not confused. It’s both. When you fail to follow the process you have committed misconduct. Okay, maybe not “gross” misconduct in the scientific sense (though still misconduct) but certainly gross misconduct in the political sense when taken in context with events.
I also read, I think it was on the WUWT (What’s Up With That) website that the supporting data was gone, unavailable, disappeared …… but I’m not certain that’s true.

The kind of “fooling” that costs nations $billions is the kind of fraud that should put the scientists responsible for the fooling in prison for a good length of time.
