My condolences to the British Royal Family, Great Britain and the Commonwealth.
A great woman. God bless her.

Sad news
Ruled for 70 years, Platinum Jubilee this year.
Longest ruling Monarch.
We will never see her like again and that is sad.
Louis IV lasted slightly longer.
Ed – you’re referring Louis XIV of France, I hope, who succeeded to the throne at the age of four years and eight months. So while he may have been king for the 72-odd years until his death in 1715 (age 77), he certainly did not reign for all those years. In fact, history suggests that there was considerable turmoil during the early years of his reign, during which various factions fought to control the monarchy and the government.
Louis XIV might have lasted slightly longer, but there is no way he actually reigned longer than HM Queen Elizabeth II. Even almost on her deathbed, HMTQ rallied to allow the former PM to resign in person and the incoming PM to “kiss hands”. And, despite her frailty, HM looked very pleased to be able to fulfil those duties.
Interesting. Canada also has a ruler with the mental acuity of a 4-year-old

I held her commission. I grieve her passing. Long live the King.
God bless Queen Elizabeth. The problem now is that Prince Charles will now be King.
Charles, King of England and the Commonwealth!
Hmmmm…..
How much damage can he do in his few remaining years? When he is finally taken by a parasitic infection from eating bugs …
It was … the bug mousse

“Charles the Green”…
He had a decent Mom.
And a lovely first mate.
May they remain
in peace.
Embarrassed to say this,
But to all those Creature’s across Tatters and Facebutt, And Others.
That are stupid.
CRITICAL of this great Woman you don’t have the Fuc#ing inspiration to clean out her Sewage pipes or lick her muddy garden shoes.
“LONG LIVED THE QUEEN.”
[deleted, along with others. ED]
Must we? The thread is about the passing of a great woman. Act your age not your shoe size.
Good comment, Thomas.
He wasn’t talking to you, GYM, but he may as well have.
It’s NutMeg.
It is an end of a remarkable era. Regrettably, our culture today doesn’t produce leaders with the sense of duty and dignity exhibited by Queen Elizabeth throughout her lifetime. It is a sad day indeed.
It seems able or, in fact, intent, on producing PEONS who willfully do not aspire to adequacy, let alone something slightly more stellar.
The drive to enforce sniveling mediocrity is strong, focused and lethal.
Get your affairs in order.
Very sad to hear.
Well done … well done! A life of service, humility, circumspection, and strength. Never wavering in her dedication to the UK. A blessed life, and an example for us all to emulate. That our lives should be dedicated to each other. A very difficult lesson for the selfie generation.
Rip. Well earned rest.
A remarkable person.
This made me sad today. A great woman. RIP.
She is reunited with her beloved Phillip. We shall not see the likes of her again. (This is a compliment)
I was right,” the Queen is dead, boys.”
I have dragged out my portrait of the Queen by Annigoni (check it out, it is the best portrait). She is the only Royal I have lived under, and I refuse to accept or respect Prince Charles and his concubine.
I am now a Republican unless the Royals skip a generation and install Price William.
@jckirlan:
Don’t bail on the monarchy because of Charles. Be patient, William will be on duty in due time.
So what? I’ve seen no indication that William is any different from his dad. Like jckirlan, I am now a commonwealth republican.
So… Charles II didn’t do it, William the Bastard didn’t do it, Edward VII and Edward VIII didn’t do it, Prinny didn’t do it, George I who kept his wife captive didn’t even do it… But Charles III is too immoral for you, and Trudeau II is okay because he was elected.
Yeahhhhhh.
I agree in part. I don’t believe the republicans will hold off if Charles insists on soiling the throne. If he wishes to do his duty to Great Britain and the Commonwealth, he absolutely must make his first act as king his abdication.
Dollops
Totally Agree.
RIP Queen Elisabeth…you will most certainly be missed.
R.I.P.
Farewell, Your Majesty – and we thank you!
Godspeed, Lilibet…
And the best Bond Girl!:

Favorite story of her was when she joined the VE day celebrations.
Canada has a new owner, King Jughead the Imbecile, and all Canada’s serfs are hereby ordered to rejoice.
Rest in peace, Ma’am. You will always be in our hearts.
I swore my oath to you when I was a young man, and I have never betrayed it.
RIP dear Lady.
A life of service. She appointed every British PM from Winston Churchill to Liz Truss.
70 years of grace and aplomb not to mention scandal free…pretty rare these days.
Genuinely felt sympathy for her when the nation ragged on her after Princess Diana’s death which in my opinion was over the top.
And judging from some tweets I’ve read there isn’t a shortage of some really horrible people.
God save the Queen.
To many dead Windsors, not enough dead Trudeaus.
I love that comment.
mhb23re
Sad day. She was a classy lady.
Now we get “King Charles”
That’s like Canada going from the competence of Stephen Harper….to the shit show we have with the virtue signalling moron who likes to wear blackface and call other people racist.
A very apt analogy
It wouldn’t matter if Harper believed in Scientology, half-bright; he was a better PM asleep than the current idiot is wide awake.
mhb23re
Ignore GYM at will.
The winds are changing, and I’m afraid not for the better. The world is looking for a leader…
Were you born a jerk, or did you have to work on it?
Always fun to watch a$$holes reveal themselves during solemn moments. Consider this my fondest wish that you go to hell as well.
Stay classy, just like your comrades and fellow travelers on the left.
Heh, he’s one of you, my friend, just that extra nutso variety. 😉
Thucy, you called somebody an a-hole and to go to hell. Then you replied to yourself to “stay classy”
That’s done interesting and funny sh1t happening, right there.
mhb23re
It’s because of numerous comments being deleted .
Who he replied too as well as others in this thread have become dis-jointed.
They are now out of context to the original poster replied to.
That’s what happens when you don’t do wholesale deleting, some replies stay that don’t make any sense.
Agreed. Zero class at all. This place could use an “ignore” button.
thuc
She married an idiot, and spawned a few more idiots, so what is yer problemo. Not every one sings the same chorus. Yet she knew what her “job” was, and did it well. She was not a dictator, like the Turd. So God bless her soul!
Noted that CBC radio had anti-monarchist John Manley on for commentary on HRH The Queen that spent a lot of time on Commonwealth states becoming republics. This while her body was still warm. Classy CBC. Yet t try hey will all stampede to Pearson for a taxpayer paid trip to London.
Almost a century of service marked by a quiet dignity. During the Second World War trained as a mechanic and ambulance driver. Having to endure the many indignities of others with silent stoicism.*
May God rest and keep Her Majesty.
God Save the King!
I wanted to keep my original post dignified. The Queen was an example of splendid service. What did the stepfather of our current, worthless, useless, POS PM do during the Second World War? Road around on a motorcycle mocking those that would willingly give up their lives in the defence of Freedom. The same, ugly, slimy frog pirouetted around like a clown behind the Queen. Burn in hell MF. Now the bastard son of Castro is burning those freedoms to the ground.
As for Charles III, he is now King. I will respect the office and hope that he has a long reign. I do hope that he shows the same political astuteness that His Mother displayed.
I believe Liz Trust just unblocked Fracking in the UK. Let’s see how King Global Warming is killing us reacts
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2022/09/08/breaking-fracking-ban-will-be-scrapped-in-the-uk/
That’s a lot to hope for.
She was a good Queen the model of dignity.
It is the end of an era that saw society adopt more liberal conventions and a loosening of morals. Not attributing any of this at her feet, this was and is the work of lesser characters.
Point is that when a Queen is on the throne, there is a noticeable shift in social mores as if folks feel they can get away with stuff their parents would frown on. But when a King sits on the throne, while morality may not improve, there is less tolerance for the malcontents.
I predict a paradigm shift is about to take place, and less tolerance of the body politic for certain politicians that virtue signal as their standard operating procedure.
Cromwell was a puritan tyrant. Even banning Christmas.
Quite, Chris.
Has Justin ordered the flags at half-mast or is that beneath him?
The end of the classy monarchy. I think she truly loved people.
Now the monarchy is in the hands of those from the Prince Phillip-Prince Charles-Prince William line of thought – “there are too many people on the planet, time for a cull”. Well isn’t that just grand.
George VI died on February 6th, 1952. She became Queen on that date.
I was born a month later, on March 5th, 1952.
So she has been Queen my entire life. I don’t think I could have wished for a better one.
Kate, I am distressed that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s web site is referring to the late Queen as dead, to-wit: “Queen Elizabeth, Canada’s head of state, dead at 96”. The use of the term “dead” in referring to the passing away of any human being is tacky, but to refer to the Queen as “dead” is beneath contempt. As the head of the Church of England, the Queen exhibited and utilized truly rare gifts of patience, civility, compassion and wisdom which are gifts from God. A proper headline would be simply “Queen Elizabeth”, or “Queen Elizabeth passes away at age 96”. A tolerable though disappointing headline would be “Queen Elizabeth dies at age 96”. Why don’t the CBC editors have even a tiny shred of respect for the Monarch in their headlines on this topic?
@Ronald:
I agree, the CBC certainly lacked tack. But I bet they know how to use the right pronouns.
I detest the CBC but totally disagree with your belief that referring to the dead as dead is tacky. Even a queen dies. Saying so doesn’t diminish respect for her. Have you ever experienced the death of one or more close relatives? I suspect not. Once you’re acquainted with death you’ll realize that “passed away” is a superficial and quite unreal way to refer to dying.
Agree totally. Passed away is an absurd term.
A good friend died two weeks ago very suddenly. I told a neighbour about it and told them he was dead not that he passed away.
A truly wonderful person who displayed a sense of grace and strength that today’s alleged leaders will never match . I can say without hesitation that she is the only Royal I have had any respect for .
A remarkable and laudable example of lifelong selfless duty. May she rest in peace.
It is time to let petty differences and divisions lie in slumber for a moment, to grieve and honour this iconic Monarch.
As an old royalist I say to all detractors F O A D. She showed a morality that most here will not ever live up to.
Keeping the ship of the monarchy steady is not job for the simple minded. Rough waters ahead.
Most of us have never known a minute when she was not Queen. I was not quite a year old when she ascended. God bless her. I am deeply saddened. RIP Your Majesty. You were loved and are already missed.
@Thomas:
Yes, same here, I am on the same page as you except I was 3 when she became Queen.
I awoke this am in Vancouver and saw the news that the family was gathering. It brought tears to my 80 year old eyes. I’m with you Philip. Long live King Charles.
Show some respect or F off. No. Just F off.
Your hero Gordon Brown sold it. And at the bottom of the market.
Must we? The thread is about the passing of a great woman. Act your age not your shoe size.
Agreed and well and simply said
Do you realize that in order to naturalize as a citizen of the United States, you must RENOUNCE all titles of nobility? It’s precisely because we saw the path to where it leads. Yes, we have troubles of our own with our own version of a “nobility” (deep state). But QE II did NOTHING to prevent the UK from driving thousands of miles down the path of WEF Globohomo. Good luck with that.
You Canucks are all a bunch of Royalty dreamers, including your present pantywaist leader, son of Fidel. You need to shed some blood for your freedom for a change. Not just bellyache in the comments on a weblog.
Canadians are largely an obedient compliant collection of soft thinkers with shallow ambitions. In Canada rugged individualism is supplanted by socialist nannyism supplied by and financed through their plantation masters namely the Windsor family of England. Canadians pay royalties on every fish, bushel of wheat, tree, ounce of gold, barrel of oil among others directly to this family. The Dominion of Canada, its government and institutions including the military, are the privately held personal property of the Crown (King Jughead).
So I say down with the Crown, down with the Dominion of Canada, and would sincerely welcome the new and inspiring Republic of Canada.
“Canadians pay royalties on every fish, bushel of wheat, tree, ounce of gold, barrel of oil among others directly to this family.”
Bullshit! The Crown is merely a term representing the state.
I’m with you, JC. Elizabeth II was the only Monarch I’ve ever known, as her reign was longer that even my lifetime, and I’ve been around for quite a few decades; long enough to be considered an (almost) senior citizen.
I have the utmost respect and admiration for the passing Monarch, and I will mourn, as with many others who have expressed themselves most eloquently here.
Having said that, I have nothing but contempt for her descendants, and I absolutely dread the coming reign of Charles III. I now say it’s time to abandon the monarchy altogether. We don’t need them any more than we need the green new deal.
You may not comment on our grief, you American embarrassment to humanity. Go away and never return.
In my experience, you Yanks put far more store by titles than anyone in either the the UK or Canada.
True story:- one of my ancestors fought in the Revolution on the side of the Revolutionaries. Within a few years, finding he’d exchanged stability and prosperity for life in a Banana Republic (but without the bananas) he upped stakes and moved north to Canada.
Except for about half a century (1880-1930) America has always been a banana republic and the source of most of the stupidity that plagues the world today.
I guess you forgot the part about being the guarantor of peace, security & freedom in the West?!? Just a little thing, I know…
@Doug
I think your President has locked himself in the closet and can’t get out. Your FBI is perpetrating election fraud and persecuting private citizens by raiding their homes with no reason. You are treating vigorous Capitol sightseers like the taliban at Gitmo, minus the nice weather, better food and habeus corpus. And the most corrupt and Marxist party in your country’s history is plotting how to fraudulently rig another election.
You might want to STFU about Canada’s woes and get busy with your own; your republic is barely hanging by its nails.
Ta,
mhb23re
At the end of the game, the king, queen and pawn are all returned to the same box.
An aside if I may – Those horses…good Lord!!!! They’re magnificent.
Not an aside, burton. A touch of class from one horse lover to another. Kudos, Kate.
The Queen was a class act. RIP. The King will have to follow in her footsteps and keep his pathologies muted or he will likely be responsible for the end of the British Monarchy.
Without a doubt, one of the all-time great monarchs of Britain, its commonwealth and/or empire. I am sure historians will rank her with the top contenders, and unlike some of them, her reign was marked almost entirely by great success. This would be a tall order for anyone to follow, let alone the man with that task. Charles III will be the oldest to take the throne by almost a decade (William IV was 64 when he became king in 1830, he passed in 1837). Edward VII was 59 when he took the throne in 1901.
There is now much potential for the monarchy to lose both the respect and the appeal that it enjoyed under Queen Elizabeth II, not to mention even worse outcomes given the unsuitable personality of the new King. I was a loyal subject of the monarch now passed and am unlikely to be much of an admirer of the incoming holder of the office, based on what I’ve seen over our almost identical lifetimes. Prince William seems a more suitable choice, hopefully a transition to his reign will be speedy.
Perhaps the best post today. I shall respect the office of King and perhaps look forward more to William’s reign
The new King shall be crowned on the Coronation chair .
Under that chair is a rock known as The Stone of Scone or Stone of Destiny.
It is presently in the possession of the Scots but will be returned for this occasion.
Some can trace its roots back to being Jacobs Pillow Rock.
If true, then the descendants from Jacob on down through to Christ and onward are related.
That makes the British Royal family blood relations to Christ himself.
The monarchy is taught that and more.
Read some of Churchill’s books on the subject.
Despite the fact that they booted the Stewarts and brought in Germans, the Windsors are the legitimate Kings of Scotland. The Stewarts closer in line to the throne were shooting blanks and went extinct.
Yes a classy lady who understood her role and served it magnificently.
And now Charles the Stupid? Please no. As the role is now ceremonial at best why not keep Queen Elizabeth II as the figurehead and chuck charles. Better a dead monarch than a braindead clown. I question whether William would be any better. Queen Elizabeth for as long as we need this monarchy.
Charles I lost his head at the end of his reign, Charles III will be starting his in the same situation.
the previous Charles ‘ including the Scots did not have an easy time of it. one being considerably shorter at the end of his reign than the start.
The Queen Knighted Sir Paul McCartney in 1997 which unleashed a wave of rock and pop musicians receiving the honor. I’d say that was one of her most significant modernizations of the Monarchy.

She even took John Lennon’s jibe about rattling their jewelry with good humor and aplomb
https://youtu.be/rvBCmY7wAAU?t=56
They don’t make ’em like that anymore.
Pity.
