    1. Taiwan is one of the top tech and shipping countries in The Far East. Doing business with them is part of a healthy economic strategy. The fact that the CCP has desire to swoop in and occupy Taiwan should give you a clue as to how important the Island nation is. Especially when it is in such close proximity to China and still an ally with the West.

      Carney’s whistle-dogs just left to appease the CCP threats.

      Or, do they know something regarding a hostile takeover? Curious minds.

      1. Yes, but this is a Taiwan paid for trip, and it’s 2 backbenchers that really don’t matter to Carney. Presumably they were told they can’t be there while Carney is prostrating himself before Xi, who can threaten Brookfield’s investments in the PRC.

      2. Quite so G-Man. Taiwan is the Golden Goose that China will not invade and destroy. It has become the main hub for integrated circuit development in certain fields. No one in their right mind would cause a TSMC production facility to shake in its foundations. The financial loss would be unbearable for all, Chinese and American. Therefore, I think the Taiwan thing is so much posturing, an excuse for both sides.

        The consequential question is, since both the CCP and Taiwanese government consider themselves the legitimate government of China, who will win the civil war. Currently China is ruled by the Red Dynasty, following along the line of centralised governments of Chinese history.
