Jim Warren: Expect more headlines announcing attacks on sanctions-dodging oil tankers in 2026: that could a good thing for Canadian producers
No, I did not write this next one – it’s from the Canadian Press.
No faith in fossil fuels? Why some religious leaders are speaking out on climate change
Nova Scotia ready for private companies to start exploring for onshore natural gas

Meanwhile, the share of Canadians who consider the environment to be a top issue has cratered in recent years, down to below 20 per cent from as high as 42 per cent in 2019, according to recent polling from the Angus Reid Institute. A strong majority of Canadians say they think climate change poses a serious or very serious threat to the planet, but the number has declined and is now about the same as it was a decade ago.

I get curious when my “BS meter” starts beeping. Notice how this article refers the dip in people considering the environment the top issue as “below 20 per cent.” BUT, gives you an exact percentage at its high in 2019 (“as high as 42 per cent”). That leads me to think that the “below 20 per cent” is WAY below 20 per cent. Why else frame it that way? Additionally, that “below 20 per cent” doesn’t specifically focus on Climate Change. It generalizes to “the environment.” That’s a pretty large and open book. Some less cynical than myself would call it a “catch all.”
Then, the article says “a strong majority of Canadians say they think climate change poses a serious or very serious threat to the planet.” Below 20 per cent is NOT a strong majority. 42 per cent is NOT a strong majority. And, while admitting that the percentage has declined, that’s not how the statement is worded. And, the admission that is as it was over a decade ago would carry more weight if they actually provided the specific percentages in that regard.
These seem like weasel words to me. Presentation of a preconceived conclusion without documentation (or outright obfuscation).
Oh, and Happy New Year!!! 😀
Good read on the Shadow Tankers; Russian and Venezuelan Oil.
Zeihan has some thoughts along the same lines:

He expects that if Russia and Venezuela lose their ability to export, their production could be shut in for years. This, coupled with Iranian unrest, could make for a very interesting 2026 in the oil market
So-called “shadow tankers” have started flying the under the Russian flag, entitling them to Russian protection. The first case I heard of caused the US to stay back, as if the ship had the lurgi. 🙂
One hopes that all those religious haters of fossil fuels have disconnected the heating and electricity in their churches and homes. No need for fuels for them. What a bunch of uneducated morons.
No, they still wear their plastic dog-collars.
How is it that Nova Scotia has finally opted in….in a small way….to the use of the evil natural gas? Is it that cold?
Yes it is that cold, and the idiot savant, Tim Houston seems to have stopped his masturbatory fantasies about Doug Ford long enough to notice. He still thinks offshore wind, for the first time ever will not be a boondoggle of galactic proportions in Nova Scotia, so rest assured he is still a rent seeking delusional whore whose province is falling apart at a rapid pace.
There’s “coal gas”, no? Or is that too close to Adolf?
A close NS friend had heat pumps because subsidized electricity, but he kept the propane furnace. October okay, but April cold.
