David Clinton- What Do Loyalty Rewards Programs Cost Us?
Every time you participate in such a program, the data associated with that activity will be collected and aggregated along with everything else known about you. It’s more than likely that points-based data is being combined with everything connected to your mobile phone account, email addresses, credit cards, provincial health card, and – possibly – your Social Insurance number. The depth and accuracy of your digital profile improves daily.

So, they’ll know I posted this? And they’ll admire my wisdom and wit! I’m looking for a downside.
The United States has so much more publicly available information than Canada. I have done family research as far as my second cousins and their descendants, most of whom I’ve never met. Starting with obituaries and newspaper articles to find names, there are website, some free and some pay, that show all the homes and phone numbers they have ever had and everyone they have ever lived with or been associated with, excepting minor children. Criminal records are shown and other interesting information. I found over half their birthdays. Then I went to Facebook and found many of their minor children along with individual and family photos. It’s a small world after all.

For a Christmas present, I gave my grandson two universal gift cards – two $20 bills. Do your bit, use cash.
