Tonight, we’re going to take a stroll down memory lane. Starting in 1933, Sears Roebuck & Co. started publishing an annual shopping catalog, affectionately known as the “Wish Book”. Legions of children across America and Canada pored over the pages of this magical tome. Though no longer published, it is sure to cast echoes of wonderful memories for millions of people who are no longer kids. From 1970, here is the Sears Christmas Wishbook Catalog.

  7. Thank you for the “Spirit of Christmas” link..They used to show it on Christmas Eve on PBS in Philadelphia and now I can share with the grandkids. Found a “Davey and Goliath” Christmas nearby too. I used to love that show in the 60’s.

      She can call it ‘political’ all she likes, but the fact is that Bari Weiss is still the boss and the boss WILL decide what gets aired. Period.

    1. One issue that VDH misses is Islam.

      The Mediterranean Sea was the way most bulk trade was done. It was by far the cheapest and fastest way to transport goods and information.

      Then came Islam, and the Muslim pirates who came to dominate the Mediterranean.

      Goods had to be transported by road increasing costs and dramatically increasing the time it took to transport goods, so that they would not be stolen by Islamic pirates, and the seamen captured and enslaved.

      Islam was a major factor in the creation of the Dark Ages in addition to disease (eg. the Black Plague).

    2. I like how he described “security” during the Dark ages consisting of stone walls and gates. Yeah … we’re rapidly returning to that … along with HD video cams.

      Hard to argue that one, sadly.

      It’s one thing to give a platform to odious views…it’s quite another thing to give a platform to odious views but *not push back* on the person espousing those views, which is a rather clear signal that you agree with them.
