Lucas has been lying about Star Wars since 1978. The Ewoks vs. stormtroopers battle in RotJ was inspired by the asymmetric jungle warfare of the Vietnam war, yes, And that’s it.
The first film is an obvious pastiche of five very well-known sources, plus the films Lucas happened to like as a naive film student, layered with a freshman’s understanding of Zen Buddhism and Jungian philosophy. It’s not deeper than that.
About 1982 I took my mature lady date to see the SW trilogy at a panorama screen theatre. We ate a lotta popcorn with all the other kids on a weekend afternoon.
