The people who want to ban Round-Up are the people who want us to eat fake meat.
And defying all odds, farmers who sprayed first generation (now banned) crop herbicides from open tractors are still around in their 80-90's. https://t.co/8GDpyelrvi

You’ll eat your cockroach clusters and like it.
Cockroaches are sexist!
My name is Simon and my goal is to make people smarter, not angrier.
Yes farmer Simon … the people who DEMAND we eat grub worms are angry, unhappy people. They’re ignorant and irritable, and demand you be the same. Thank you Simon!
Can’t count the number of family & neighbors who won’t believe Round-Up is still sold at Cambodian Tire.
Also,
Farmers who claim to not use antibiotics on their livestock are liars,
or are killing their own herds. Ask if they withhold it from their kids too.
“Can’t count the number of family & neighbors who won’t believe Round-Up is still sold at Cambodian Tire.”
I was pissed off one time when I bought a type of brand name Roundup which is diluted vinegar. Next time I bought real Roundup. What I find more effective than the diluted consumer shit is urinating on the weeds, given all the nasty heart drugs and other crap I’m taking. Grass dies and stays dead.
Or they’re small farmers whose animals aren’t so constantly exposed to infections that they have to be fed antibiotics daily…until those animals are moved to commercial feedlots.
My understanding is that EU farmers are looking at Canada to learn how to cut farming costs because Canadian farmers are so cost efficient and use so few chemicals per hectare. That’s also why Canadian produce is now finding its way into the EU, Canadian farming efficiencies meet or exceed EU green standards.
Amazing how many anti-GMO types were so pro-mRNA shots. Someone should have asked them exactly how do you think the mRNA’s shots are made?
And I can’t believe how many pro-GMO types are so anti-mRNA vaccine.
1. The evidence that GMO foods are harmful to eat is almost nil.
2. The evidence that mRNA vaccines carry more risk than traditional vaccines is greater, but still insubstantial compared to evidence to the contrary.
Most of the resistance to mRNA vaccines is from the right of the political spectrum, and they are doing exactly what they criticized the left for doing on GMO crops — not following the science.
Ah, yes. The “Science”™.
Yes, science. That thing that’s largely responsible for our ridiculously long and affluent lives by any historic standard.
If you’ve got something better than science for determining the safety of vaccines, please let me know.
Most anti-vaxx sentiment isn’t any more rational than anti-GMO sentiment. The detractors just know.
Calling the current system of research, where grants are controlled by a government that manages the direction and effectively silences all dissent, “Science” is as mind numbingly stupid as calling the western economies “Capitalism”.
True, but so is pro-vax sentiment.
Why it was so hard for people to understand that the COVID vaccines could work only in some places, only if travel restrictions were rigorously observed, is hard for a scientific observer to fathom. It wasn’t “A vaccine that works against this strain of virus may be of some use in these places where this strain is still circulating; won’t help in other places where a new strain has become predominant.” It was “Vax good” or “Vax bad.”
cb370:
Amazing the fantasies that anti-vaxxers dream up.
Extensive COVID research was done all around the world. Even if you conjure up some illusion of North American governments having an iron grip on research (a fiction), you would have to explain results from India, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Israel, and so on. No one has the power to control the results of global research.
But even North American research is often funded independently of the government and the pharmaceutical companies. And even when that research is funded by the government, the government does not have control of the results of that research.
Priscilla King:
Wrong. The COVID vaccines worked everywhere. There were endless studies from around the world examining the effectiveness and safety of the COVID vaccines, many of them controlled, randomized, and double blind. Here’s a meta analysis of 25 of them:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8148145
Deaths due to serious illness were on the decline long before vaccines became a thing.
I was a firm believer in GMO, Golden Rice in particular, but after the covid shitshow I wouldn’t trust a word big pharma says and definitely do not want any of their ‘safe and effective’ products in my body.
Look at what has happened with Bovaer – Farmers describing cows with gastric problems, lower milk yields and cows dying after a few months on the additive. And what, if any, have been the effects on the people who drank the dairy products from those cows?
KM, you can trust ‘the science’ all you like, but while ‘the science’ is under the control of vested interest’s I’ll trust my own judgement.
Right. That’s due to advances in medical science, the very thing you’re dismissing when it comes to vaccines.
Medical science is now done around the world, and financed by a slew of different sources. It’s beyond the reach of vested interests to skew to any great degree.
I usually agree and always chortle at this site, but I had to register to call out a mistake.
I’ve been called the Queen of Glyphosate Awareness. I prefer the title “Celiactivist.” The movement is open to anyone who has a body and wants to keep the use of it. Yes, Bernie Sanders is one of us, but so are thousands of “conservatives.” I speak for myself here.
I DO NOT want you to eat fake meat…especially since afaik all of it’s drenched in glyphosate.
What you eat is your business. If you want to eat arsenic, that’s your right. Poisoning the air and water other people have to share is not anybody’s right.
I want you to stop torturing me, and yourselves, with reactions to poisons that aren’t even justified by any real benefit to agriculture. I am an Irish-American celiac and know firsthand that glyphosate aggravates celiac reactions for most (if not all) celiacs and causes pseudo-celiac reactions in people who don’t even have the celiac gene, which is rare. I barely knew what being healthy felt like till I was thirty years old and am fighting desperately to restore that wonderful feeling now. I’d like my Nephews to have a chance to feel healthy during their young adult years.
Bayer has changed the formula for Roundup twice this year. What’s sold under that name at Tractor Supply, Walmart, etc., these days no longer contains glyphosate. You might still find a glufosinate-based version but the newer stuff is a mix of new, untested, more likely carcinogenic PFAS. It still makes humans and animals sick. Glyphosate reactions are grotesquely various–animal studies were misreported as showing the stuff was “safe” because, although most animals tested had adverse reactions, few had the same reactions. New Roundup seems to produce sluggishness and cold-like symptoms in most people exposed, in the short term, and has a very high probability of causing cancer over time.
The change was made, NOT because Bayer has any compunctions about killing people or about insulting those people when they object to being poisoned, but because overuse has caused “weeds” to evolve resistance to glyphosate. Spraying glyphosate was actually breeding the nastiest weeds (kudzu, Spanish Needles, jimsonweed, bermudagrass, and horse-nettles all thrive on it) before it started failing to kill good edible plants like burdock (gobo) and dandelions.
I want people to know that, when all “herbicides” are banned altogether, there will actually be MORE food that people could safely eat and enjoy. If farmers aren’t too lazy to pick weeds out of fields or too stingy to pay local teenagers to help do that, the weeds actually have uses! If nothing else they can be burned for energy!
