Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Day of Wreckin’n

It costs £174.50 a year to obtain a BBC license for a color TV. Technological atavists who are bargain-hunting can snag a license for a black and white TV for only £58.50 per year. For the year ending March 2025, the license fee raised £3.8 billion, 65 percent of the Beeb’s total income.

There is growing resentment about the fee. “Some people ask,” said one news report, “why they should be forced to pay for the BBC if they do not use its services.” Good question. However, it now appears that the BBC may need to significantly increase its fees to avoid insolvency.

That’s because Donald Trump is preparing to sue the storied news and entertainment company for between $1 billion and $5 billion. That “B” for “bankrupt.” “I have an obligation to do it,”

  1. Conservatives should sue the CBC, but the Liberals would just dig a little deeper into our pockets to cover any fines.
    Defund the CBC.

  2. I’d expect this BBC VS Trump trial to be with a judge only, though for what it’s worth “I’d sit on that jury” …

I view the BBC far more often than I should and I think their anti Trump bias has been ramped up lately, any sniff of a scandal is mentioned regardless of source

    1. They’re just ramping up for the mid-terms, less than a year away.
      Expect more!
Democrats and their Public Relations Dept (aka Mainstream Media) are desperate, as the investigations are just getting started.

    1. Let me answer your question!

” They did it because they despise Trump and wanted to harm his chances of winning the election. So far, the BBC has offered a lukewarm apology but no money.”

Same with EVERYONE in the TDS Trump-hating media. I mean, after all, if you don’t do all you can to stop “Hitler” … then you are immorally complicit … Right? No, we don’t hate the media nearly enough

  3. “why they should be forced to pay for the BBC if they do not use its services.”

Many Brits have been complaining about that for a good many years; it’s not a recent thing.

  4. It appears Licence Fee payments use the honor system,
which the barbarians must truly appreciate:
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cz9k27yy839o
… conveniently “BBC is also The TV Licensing Authority”
… “officers visited 2 million addresses over the previous 12 months
… “costing £166m… and found more than 64,000 people watching live TV without a licence”
… “Critics point out that the poorest households pay as much as the richest”
… “Anyone who is blind gets 50% off”

Hot topics of conversation around the bangers and mash table:
… “should TV licence fee non-payment be decriminalised?”
… “use of a television receiver without a valid licence can lead to prosecution, a court appearance and a fine of up to £1,000. In some cases, where there is a refusal to pay the fine and where all other enforcement methods have been tried, a person can be sent to jail.”

  5. The CBC and CTV in Canada are at least as bad as the BBC. In fact, I would say the CBC is much worse. They are very consistent with misleading and defective ‘journalism’. I feel guilty using the word journalism in combination with the CBC, It’s an insult to real journalists everywhere. In September 2024 the CTV proved they were just as bad by splicing audio from two video clips together to make it seem like Poilievre said something he didn’t. Just like the BBC. Misinformation and outright l ies are definitely a feature of left wing media sources and pathetic uninformed Canadians just lap it up.

    1. Recently (last year or two), I think ctv has even become worse than ceebeecee.
Ceebeecee is more blatant and obvious, while ctv has become more sly in their manipulation, which is more dangerous when your not watching for it.
Our local radio is now broadcasting that Liberal mouthpiece Vassy, all Saturday afternoon. Even though they claim not to receive gov’t Media handouts,,, they may as while be getting them. This radio station’s News dept, simply cut an’ pastes everything from ctv, so were getting the same garbage all over again.

    2. Add Global to that. I remember one story on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing where Trump announced the Artemis project, a moon gateway to for the subsequent exploration of Mars. Big time announcement right? Not for Global; they basically ran the story that Trump didn’t know the difference between the Moon and Mars. And Dwana Friesen saying with a cutie voice that “Astronomy is difficult!” I could not believe it. The next step in manned exploration reduced to an “Orange man is stoopid” story.

  6. Fck suing them.
    Nuke em.
This American President or one in the not-too-distant future is going to have to nuke that Shithole in order to contain the pathogen that it has become.

  7. Do people who get their TV from the internet have to pay the license fee? I’m guessing yes. My TV, like a crapload of people out there, is just basically a 46 inch monitor for my computer. When does a computer become a TV?

    1. “When does a computer become a TV?”

When the regulator decides they can dig a few shekels out of your pocket and get away with it.

I think the regulators would have a hard time calling it a “television” if you don’t have cable or a TV antenna. But they probably do anyway.

  8. It would be a cryin’ shame if the BBC were called to account for their bullsh1t, after all these years. Same for the CBC, TV-Ontario, NPR, and a few more of these taxpayer-funded lampreys sucking the life out of our nations.

    “Bankruptcy all ’round!”
