I am not sure they’ll be able to arrange an election right now but if the Carney Liberal government does then these are some of the reasons why:
– the NDP is leaderless so they might be able to flip a couple seats
– having a minority government means that parliimentary committees can compel the government to release documents and data. Obviously there’s things they are trying to hide.
– they can’t freely implement Carney’s political agenda in a minority government. Whatever they have planned requires a 4 year majority government to force through unpopular legislation.
– the Canadian economy is not just weakening or at the start of a regular recession but after a decade of Trudeau Liberals it is on the edge of collapse, especially in central Canada. The Liberals want an election before that happens.
