Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I think he’s very proud of his daughter playing with the band on this tour, his wife Polly wrote most of the lyrics from this new album, “Luck and Strange”

Yes, he’s very much “still got it”
Take that Roger Waters.
David Gilmour played the bass on any of the Pink Floyd albums which were “tricky” or asked above the bare minimum which Roger Waters was able to give. Decent lyricist and songwriter, but a dismal bassist and human being.
This was done to save time. Waters did after all play the bass lines live.
Keep in mind Waters was producing the album, and he spent 90% of his time running the boards and directing. So to imply that he’s some sort of incompetent, and needs Gilmour to bail him out, is the opinion of an idiot.
Roger Waters has plain, indeed flagrant, shortcomings. We should limit our focus to them. As a bass player, he fairly met the terms of his employment. Our criticism should be directed elsewhere.
Sober up Warren…
I wasn’t meaning to “imply” Roger Waters is incompetent. I said with certainty that he was dismal.
As he was playing live to the crowds, it may be “good enough” for those high kids and easy enough to look past his less than technical expertise while high and the flashing lights and whatnot.
I didn’t mean to overlook his garbage politics which he typically raged about, perhaps while trying to keep an audience from focusing too much on his dismal display of bassmanship and widespread acknowledgment of being known as an “asshole” … it’s been 40 years since he left Pink Floyd, and Gilmour has said repeatedly that he’d absolutely not ever perform nor share a stage with him again, though it’s hard to tell if this is because he’s an asshole, or incompetent. I’m pleased you didn’t find fault with me referring to Waters as a dismal human being as the research for that seems complete.
The Wall took a year to record, not quite “Chinese Democracy” in studio time, but saying Gilmour played bass in studio to save time can’t be taken seriously. “Directing” in a recording studio is normally referred to as “producing” … maybe that’s what you meant.
Referring to an other as an “idiot” because you disagree with their opinion? more lol…
Here’s a great version with Van Morrison and a couple of members of The Band, plus dueling guitars:
