  1. Sheesh! I thought it was bad enough that movies had been infected with this. Can’t say I’m terribly surprised. Many newer books seems to have themes that aren’t of interest (at least to me).

  2. First step in removing the parasite is to identify the parasite. A good example of this is when the gaming publications reported on these subcontractor companies hired by gaming companies to come in and make the video games more “inclusive.” As soon as the players became aware of this, they just boycotted the hell out of the offenders causing gaming companies to lose $Millions. The gaming companies learned their lesson.

Of course, the same ilk has wound their way into publishing. But, the publishing companies have a more serious problem that gaming companies. Not everyone can create and code a game. Just about anyone with two brain cells rubbing together can write a book. And, that same person can self-publish. Or better yet, some enterprising individual will set up a publishing company with all the bells and whistles online….and the big five can melt away into obscurity. Keep in mind what happened to the music industry. The biggest acts now self-produce.

  3. Meh. I make a good living from my own micro publishing company that publishes only my novels (31 so far). I get out the popcorn when I watch the trad pub industry self-destruct by giving in to the 21 year olds with green hair, an attitude problem, and a constant rage against normal humanity — you know, the feminists who run publishing. It doesn’t affect me in the slightest and I make more money than 99% of the authors published by the big 5.

    1. “I make more money than 99% of the authors published by the big 5.”

If you make -any- money you’re doing better than more than half of them.

I’m not fond of the way the algorithm buries my books under half a million AI “authors”, but my sales are still similar to Dead Tree Canadian authors. As Kathy Shaidle once warned me, I get dozens of sales. But in the next breath, 5,000 sales is a “blockbuster best seller!!!” in Canada, so if I do a couple hundred that’s not so bad.

First book was “Unfair Advantage” by Edward Thomas. I’m up to #3 now, plus a novella and a short story. #4 will be coming along soon. Any of them will give the “sensitivity readers” a case of the vapors. I’m insensitive. ~:D

Anybody wants to read about giant tanks and robot girlfriends, go to my blog. I’ve got some stuff for you.

      1. Giant tanks and robot girlfriends!? Are you some kind of a savant who can read my thoughts? Hahahaha ha ha

Yeah, the best thing for everyone to do is to just avoid the ‘outrage industrial complex’. These people are mental and emotional cripples. They started this all with the anti-bullying campaigns. Because weirdos didn’t like being called ‘fags’. Wahhhh wahhhh. So the “Love is Love” crowd deployed the “Hate Speech is Hate” nonsense. And the “Hate Speech is violence” absurdity. Now they are trying to redefine the First Amendment of the US Constitution as not allowing “hate speech”. As if? These people are retards … and should be ignored.

    1. I used to read three or four books a week. You know how many I read now? Zero. Because why? Sensitivity readers, that’s why. Big 5 books are all Woke propaganda now, just like the movies are.

Want to know the most popular fiction books in North America now? MANGA. Japanese comics in translation. Because no Woke, that’s why.

Now, the Big 5 know this of course, but as we see in the article they’d sooner go bankrupt than challenge the little pink-haired 20-somethings currently killing their companies.

I’m happy to help them by not buying their crap.

    2. Which is why I take most of my literature from Nobel Prize winners …

      Ophelia, she’s ‘neath the window
for her I feel so afraid
      on her twenty second birthday
She’s already is an old maid.
To her death is quite romantic
      she wears an iron vest
      her profession’s her religion
      her sin is her lifelessness.
and though her eyes are fixed upon
      Noah’s great rainbow
she spends her time peeking into
      Desolation Row

  4. Perhaps Trump will treat this issue as a Gordian knot. Issue an E.O. stating these organizations are violating the first amendment and are thus unconstitutional. Then, eventually, the supreme court would concur. Lots of gnashing of teeth and rending of garments, and heads exploding. It would be awesome and the problem would be solved.
